That is the real dealbreaker for me. Same problems, game after game, and he just doubles down on the approach. It's a virtue to stick to what you believe in up to a point, I suppose, but we're now well past the point where that started to look like a gamble, or worse, like he didn't have any more cards to pull out of the pack. It looks pretty evident that the team has stopped believing in it - our defence in particular, which has been looking worse and worse for every game, and today was beyond atrocious.
The really horrible thing today was that we lose 5-0 in a game where both sides effectively stopped playing at 60 minutes, and where Liverpool didn't even really dominate that much. Possession was even at the break, shots close. But still they score 5 goals in little more than 50 minutes. All of them great goals and well deserved, but all of them also involving galactic-scale defensive meltdowns, from a defensive unit who clearly didn't feel confident handling what they were up against. Much of which comes back to our inability to exercise control higher up on the pitch, I would suspect.

Yes, it is. It's the definition of a demand made in bad faith. Not one single poster in here, or any of these hack journalists or Twatter outrage merchants would ever hold themselves up to the same made up moral standards. It's a demand designed to generate hatred towards another human being, trying to make it out like he's not only an incompetent manager for this level (which he is), but also a terrible human being (which he isn't). It serves only to absolve those higher up of the responsibility which is part of their jobs, and you're a fool if you're falling for it.

Even if the board has decided to sack ole they wont do it now because they'll want the new manager or the interim caretaker to have a soft landing. So they'll wait till our difficult fixtures are out the way by next month.

It's not a demand. It's a free world and OGS is free to do as he pleases at the end of the day. It's a rather an expectation from a purported club legend.

Just so long as it's not some short term big ego who veers into yet another fundamental shift in approach. Obviously adjustments are needed to how we play, otherwise there wouldn't be a need to replace OGS, but it should be broadly within the parameters of fast attacking football.

This is why it's unlikely a sacking is on the horizon. This isn't even close to rock bottom for Ole. I'm actually expecting another run that leads to no trophies. He's a wizard of zero expectation football. He'll however go back to being a pumpkin right in time to bottle a trophy opportunity. Haven't seen a manager so allergic to the pressure of expectation.
I'm not being funny, but there are many replacements better than Ole. Give a chance to somebody and when the next obvious choice is available, assess again. Just don't rest on our laurels whatever we do.

I bet others could roll off a list of interesting managers that are worth a shot. We honestly have nothing to lose and there will be no sentiment towards these managers so, if they fail, we go again. That is how it is done. We'll either strike lucky giving a chance out or will maybe win a trophy on the way to finding our Klopp or Pep.

Seriously. Anyone expecting OGS to resign of his volition on the evening of a catastrophic result lack not just realism and reasonability, but also an appreciation of what responsibility means. This is a decision for the club to make, at the time of its choosing. He can fight it, laconically await it or work with the club on the decision on a basis of mutual consent, but for him to make that decision off the cuff on his own, with no preparation or warning, would be stupid and irresponsible.
I also can't shake off the feeling a lot of the delusional confidence in Ole behind the scenes comes from them, especially that new contract. Someone must have told our clueless board the players would mail it if they thought the manager was leaving.
Worst part is if he wasn't renewed Neville and everyone from old United would have blamed the poor start on the uncertainty of Ole's position. We've seen just about any and everything get turned into an excuse for Ole.

The reason I agree with you is that we seem to think we need a manager to build a dynasty and who’s going to be here long term, but if that’s the case why are we signing Cavani one Summer and Ronaldo the next. We need a manager who can get the best out of us now.
You can disagree as much as you want. One thing is the brand of football going on, another thing is shitty negativity that is just plain wrong. Yes the timing for that thread was not my finest hour, but most fans will agree that Ole has done a lot good as well. It’s just not going to work out with him if we want the next level.
