Danny Welbeck, Kiko Macheda and Zoran Tosic have been named in a strong Reserves squad to contest the Lancashire Senior Cup Final on Monday evening.

The Reds face Bolton Wanderers at Leyland's County Ground, as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer looks to retain the trophy he won in his first competitive game as a manager last summer.

Welbeck and Macheda lead the line as the Reds' second string boasts the rare feature of two strikers, while Cameron Stewart, Magnus Eikrem and Matty James joining Tosic in midfield.

At the back, James Chester skippers a defence of Corry Evans, Craig Cathcart and Joe Dudgeon, in front of England youth goalkeeper Ben Amos.

On the bench, David Gray, Ron-Robert Zieler, Oliver Norwood and Sam Hewson are joined by striker Josh King, who has been in fine pre-season form for United's under-18s.

Monday's match, which will be shown live on MUTV, brings United and Bolton for a third cup final in just over a year. The Reds have beaten the Trotters in the last two Manchester Senior Cup finals - including last May's triumph at the Reebok Stadium.

Prior to last August's victory, a 3-2 thriller against Liverpool, the Reds hadn't won the Lancashire Senior Cup since 1968.

United: Amos; C Evans, Chester, Cathcart, Dudgeon; Stewart, Eikrem, James, Tosic; Macheda, Welbeck.
Substitutes: Zieler, Gray, Norwood, Hewson, King.

I might just have a drive up there to see that, looks like a very exciting lineup!

Me too. For some reason, I didn't think it was at the ground in Leyland. I live about 5 minutes away from there and was looking forward to going next week for the league game, but with Kiko, Welbeck and Tosic starting I'm gonna try get there tonight. Hopefully get Ole to sign my programme from his testimonial too :D

Do we know what time kickoff is? Bolton website says 7.45, but MUTV are starting at 6pm, which would seem a bit early. I thought it was usually around 7pm.

EDIT: Lancashire website says 7.45.

£8 for Adults  Robbing bastards.

Ah this might explain why Tosic wasn't on the bench against Birmingham.

I trust that the goals/highlights will be available online sometime tonight?

no macheda/welbeck/tosic against burnley then .
hope someone streams it .

They are not needed, but I am surprised Cathcart is playing, maybe, he may be taken off at half time.
i know they arent needed .. but they are more likely to get games against teams like burnley .. was hoping to see them involved .. or even in the 18

Their appearance won't affect their chances against Burnley (unless they have a 'mare), however Burnley are to be respected and won't be easy away from home and it's their first home game of the premiership so they will be up for it, not really the time to play a weakened line-up, especially considering the problems at the back.

They need to be kept ticking over and a good competitive game is probably what they need and hopefully they will play well and share a few goals and give the manager a selection headache.

Hopefully we'll get to see king and norwood later in the game. It should be a good game - boltons teams strong enough but i'm going for us to win it 2-1.

Scrappy game so far, the only real chance falling to Welbeck after he somehow managed to knock over the brick shittuhouse. Welbeck prominent early on. Macheda struggling to get into the game but his link play has been good when he has received the ball.

if someone could PM me a stream, if they have it, it would be appreciated.

0-0 at half time. Pretty even game, Welbeck had a half chance early on, and as TD said, Amos made a good save from Riga near the end. Other than that there's been a few decent long range efforts but in general things have broken down in the final third for both sides.

Cameron Stewart is finding it very difficult against J Lloyd Samuel, Tosic has been lively when he's got on the ball. Him lecturing Nicky Hunt after a studs up challenge on his calf was a highlight.

Eikrem and James battling well in midfield against a combative Bolton pairing. Cathcart and Evans coping well in the centre of defence, Cathcart looks very classy.

Yep, sums it up well, Tosic has looked a threat and even though there's not much in it I think we are playing the better football.

I've sorted everyone who PMed and everyone in this thread for a stream, if anyone wants the link let me know very soon because 2nd half is just a few minutes away.

Bolton are far more direct and we've played some great stuff in front of them, but just struggled to penetrate and wasted a few good opportunities with poor final balls.

Bolton defending very well though and getting men back very quickly so it's not been easy. Hopefully the 2nd half is a bit more open.

Cathcart, Welbeck and Tosic (who picked up an injury after having a shot blocked- twisted ankle apparently) off, Josh King, Sam Hewson and David Gray on. It's Josh King's reserve team debut, watch out for him, a real talent.

Not strictly Josh's reserve debut, he made one sub appearance last season ;)
