You'd think the tenancy agreement specifies that the landlord has a right to give the tenant notice.

I mean, van Dijk having to move house some time before June 4th could prove to be a perfect distraction. Remember what happened when Rio moved house, got him off the pitch for eight months.

It's probably an Assured Shorthold Tenancy. They fix a duration - realistically the owner can't take it back in that period, unless the tenant stops paying rent or something. For a footballer it's probably an annual contract.

Still, it's very convenient that Solsjkaer has a house round here. I'm sure he can pick up a nice rental pad to keep him ticking over for a couple of months. Hopefully he'll have his own place back ready for the family to move into ready for next season, and the new school year.

There's always the Lowry, Ole might also enjoy Wings!

No wonder VVD lives in Manchester, he's safe unlike Mane. :D
Remember Neville saying something along the lines of this when you see the Liverpool players living close to and going out in Manchester instead of Liverpool. He said you'd never get United players doing the same.

What Ole has done till now after taking over at United has been really amazing but that is what was expected from any manager who is in charge of United. How he is going to fare in the next 7 premier league games will be the real test of his job at United.

Except for Liverpool and Tottenham, United under Ole has not faced a top 10 team in the premier league competition. The next 7 games are consecutively against top 10 teams in the premier league and with the injury list on the rise we will have to see how the results turn out. Come May if we are still in the top four, we would be favourites to win the title next year.

At 6:20 Rio talks about Ole's effect in raising not only team morale but also staff morale from the dinner ladies to the receptionist. Furthermore, Rio amongst others feel much more welcomed in the ground, he speaks of the time when he was a player and ex-players would come to the training ground and this would provide a lot of motivation for the players to emulate these legends of yesteryear. Rio says that some of the ex-players didn't feel as welcomed and the atmosphere at the training ground was much darker.

Ole it seems has really changed the atmosphere and it's something we need to consider for future managers. Ok, they might be serial winners but are they Manchester United managers, do they understand the club's nature? From the outside looking in, I get the sense that United is a family and I think we function well when we provide this milieu. I remember Robin Van Persie talking about how welcomed he was made to feel when he first joined the club and it's small things like this that go a long way towards players' performances. It can be the little extra boost which makes all the difference and we need a manager who can provide that.

What? Just that much?

He has to win every match in the game from now on till the end of time. He again has to win all the matches once the Universe resets. And then may be, just may be, we can offer him a one year contract with the option of an extension.

Heck who cares he has had the most successful start in the history of Premier League. That's nothing. That Paul Ince could have done with his eyes closed. :boring:

I'd wager my first born that he'll be named manager at the end of the season at this point, that's how certain I am that he's done enough to earn the opportunity

That is such a weird statement. Last season we finished second in the EPL. In the equivalent matches to the ones we've played so far this year (substituting Cardiff for Swansea, Burnley for West Brom and Fulham for Stoke) we picked up 21 points. This season we've got 32. And that's just "what is expected". So weird.

I think Ole also must win Britain Got Talent, just so that we all are assured that he has talent.

From Norwegian media TV2 tonight.

Ole has done a long interview with a Norwegian podcast "Fotballklubben"

Where he reveals that his contract with Molde is terminated.

From the article:

Not under contract with Molde.
When asked by the program leaders Aleksander Schau and Thomas Aune if he has a temporary leave from work in Molde, Solskjær answers:

- I'm not quite sure how it works. I think the contract has expired and that now I only have a contract with Manchester United. There may be another contract needed for that.

Solskjær extended the contract with Molde for three new years on the 3 December last year, before United came on the track, but the article on the new agreement is no longer available on Molde's website.

From Norwegian paper VG today.

Glazer meeting Ole again today, accidentally within the 15 minutes the media had access to the training...

Also tweets with pictures form Jan Aage Fjortoft, someone with full member status should link them.
It might be thar Avram (who is Ed's boss) is more involved this time when it comes to choosing the manager. Second time he is meeting with Ole.

So United have already paid his £8m release clause to stop Molde running the price up should he be successful in the job, meaning Solskjær is a free agent at this time and this was never a loan deal. Interesting.

Interestingly Simon Stone said this:

The interesting thing is Solskjaer's contractual situation with Molde is a near irrelevance when it comes to his position at United.

Should the club pay up the three-year deal he agreed with Molde on 3 December, it would come to around £1.5m. Safe to say that is some way below the figure it would cost to get Mauricio Pochettino from Tottenham.

Probably agreed a new contract but never got round to signing it, as he was at United a fortnight later.

His last contract ran out the other day.

We're in Paris at Parc des Princes with Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjær. How much of the plan and strategy do you have ready on the eve of the match?

Most of the plans are in place, let's see if those plans blossom tomorrow. We're missing a few players so we've had to discuss what we think is the best way to grab the minimum two goals we require.

Follow Manchester United and Ole Gunnar on Viasat Sport 1 tomorrow from 8pm with Morten Langi, Daniel Høglund and not to mention former teammate of Ole Gunnar Solskjær, Henning Berg.

Thank you dear.
. @JanAageFjortoft has met Ole Gunnar Solskjær in front of the big match in Paris. What the Manchester United boss said you will know tomorrow!
You......

What a difference a change of manager makes to this forum. Gave the place a wide birth when things were spiralling under Jose and really didn't want to talk about your team as i think some fans may have took things the wrong way.

Boy has Ole turned things. With his contract expired at Molde he must be favourite to take the job full time.

But what Im interested in reading from United fans is, what one thing out of the whole turn around has impressed you most about Solskjaer's management in his short time at the club?

8 million sky pulled out of their arse. BBC reported there isn't any agreed fee and also Ole's contract is worth 1.5 million.

This has to be the biggest troll post ever.

After 6 years in the doldrums our absolute priority is the return to the top of the English standings. So if he does a double, then that is miraculous work in 1 and a half seasons. That would make him untouchable for a few years!

To assert that we should be judging our manager on whether or not he makes the CL semi-finals next year, given the most recent history, given the squad...is way off the mark in my opinion.

Domestic dominance is first. European second. Besides, it will take a couple of transfer windows at best to identify and work on attracting the types of players we'll need to step up to the best in Europe. They're just not available in one transfer window. And how many of this top level signing do people think we'll need? Four, five?

Next season, if he get's us 3rd and within 6 points of 1st that is consolidation and sustained evidence of the ability he is showing now. Whilst an instant jump back to the top would make us all giddy, the requirement now is steadying the ship, returning it to the right waters and planning for the journey ahead
.

Very reasonable, spot on. This may sound like blasphemy, but if Jose actually showed steady improvement (and wasnt a vile bellend) he would still be here and most fans would back him to get us back to former glory. We have a decent enough first team, but the squad still needs a lot of rebuilding and trying to do that over the course of one season would both be difficult and unwise since you end up throwing a lot of money on players who dont really fit in.

Man management definitely. He's saying all the right things, letting players just play and express themselves. If they have a bad day he doesn't criticize them but actually uses that as a motivation for future games.
Of course tactically he has been great also imo, I must admit even better than I thought he'd be and things can be only better and better.

No, I think the article mentions that we paid up the 3 year contract that comes to around 1.5 mn not the 8 mn. Atleast that is what I understood

Interestingly Simon Stone said this:

Have to agree with Stone, his contract situaiton with Molde is pretty mich irrelevant. Whatever the status is the compensation is going to be a drop in the bucket and far less than what, say, Tottenham would demand for Pochettino.

Positivity.

Translation of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's interview on the norwegian podcast Fotballklubben

Why can't more interview questions be this perceptive? One of the best set of interview questions I have seen in a while. Of course Ole absolutely bosses the answers and gives several insights:

Clearly lot of work has gone into tactics, much of it we fans don't realise:

Do you disagree a lot? (the coaches)

No, we have very similar views in how we want to play football, but sometimes we discuss back and forth and then Ill take the final desition. The discussions are usually if we should press high or lay further down the pitch, wether to play 4-3-3 or 3-5-2.

What has been the biggest challenge in united? What has been the most important decition one?

It's been so fun, I think the decition to work on the diamond formation in dubai - we spent 3-4 days on it, that was perhaps the most important one. It gave us momentum, and it was the first time we really changed something other than attitude and "playing the ball forward". We played with a false 9, and we got a goal by doing exactly what we had practiced and drawed up. I think thats when the players realized "this could go places". David kept us in the game, and the goal was exactly like we worked on. Thats what I like about being a coach/manager, when you work on something and it works out just like that. It feels so much better than luck.

Copying the man-management skills of the best manager out there:

If a player fecks up and causes the opposition a goal, and you lose because of that goal, how do you handle that?

If it is a veteran - someone who has been at the club for 10 years, I go full out in the dressing room. No mercy. A young player (think Pereira vs Burnley), its more hands on shoulders, invite them out for lunch or dinner (he usually takes them to merriot hotel or san carlos). An older player, like Gary Neville after West Brom - we talked about it the other day, Neville asked Mike Phelan after the game, "Mick, What do you think". "If you want me to be honest, I think its time" he answered, and I think that was maybe the last game he played as well. Neville understood it himself. We could google if he played after that, but I think it was one of the last games.

Has started getting involved with transfers clearly he is here to stay:

Player-logistics wise, how much of your day is spent with that?

In january, it was none, as we weren't going to sign any players. Now the club is working on the players they want to bring in in the summer, and I've been a part of a couple of those. There is a lot of work that goes into this, and then I come in at the end of the process. As a manager now, I say where I think we should progress, what positions I think we need new players in, and what positions I think we will have great academy players in.
