With regards to Ole performance against Liverpool, he did not pass my assessment that I placed before. The substitution of Lingard did not make any sense, when he knew he was not fit. Sanchez would have come on and used another sub later on to alter the game. However, Ole did reveal to me, how good our current defense is and how he has done well to organize our leaky back line. I already knew that Linderlof and Smalling were our best center back pairing, but young and Shaw showed to me that signing fullbacks may not be too much of a priority. Shaw in particular impressed me. Either way, Ole did not lose and did well to nullify Salah, so good performance and results at the end of the day.

That has nothing to do with your emoticon post, but I already stated that the squad Pochettino inherited was a mid table squad. There team averaged a 6th place finished so, he did not inherit a top team or an expensive one like Ole did. The players Pochettino bought in were not comparable to what United bought in. Pochettino developed most of his players to become good players, whereas Ole is yet to be tested on the market, but his predecessor bought in a lot of high profile players.

I don't think he made a mistake with Lingard. If he was on the bench then his injury would have healed and the only reason he wasn't started was because he might have just been fit to play 30 minutes or so. They wouldn't have put him on the bench if his injury hadn't healed. So the fact he lasted 20 odd minutes I don't think you can blame on Ole or his substitution.

But agreed it was a great team display given the players who were missing from the start and then the forced subs. Also worth saying Ole is starting to show he has the tactical knowledge I thought might be lacking in whether him or Poch. The win over Chelsea and this is showing he (and his team) and getting there!!!

Very happy if we offered him the job now after this tough 14 days or so

I know it sounds stupid but it would actually be a harder job to follow Solskjaer than SAF as SAF was retired and no chance of coming back. To bring someone else in instead of Solskjaer after making the decision to get rid of him would leave the new manager in a nearly impossible position.

You are right, and nobody expected this, I think some still find it hard to believe.

He has had different problems to deal with and has risen to them all.
The life is back in the club and its fans, the media and even opposition fans have
grudgingly agreed he has made a difference.
I even read a Liverpool fan describe him as the type of manager United should have.

I doubt any one could have done better, and in premier league history, no manager
has ever got 26 points in his first ten matches.

PSG did not go well, that night PSG were another level, imagine what Ole could do
with a transfer window and pre season training.

I think it says a lot about Sanchez's standing at the club that a half fit lingard got picked ahead of him. That a player who's fitness was a gamble was viewed as less of a risk than a fit Sanchez. There's a few players in the squad that the manager clearly views as being dead weight. The fact that Sanchez and Fred are two of them shows how badly we need someone who knows what they're doing in charge of transfer business.

I do think Oles style of play requires a greater fitness than Joses, LVHG and Moyes style, and they are not prepared for that,

Gomes, chong and greenwood if he's fit will be rubbing their hands together for the palace and southampton fixtures. The sheer amount of forwards who are injured/doubtful means that they've got to make the squad. Garner might fancy his chances of making the squad as well if matic and Herrera are both out.

Ole was brilliant tactically today, the Lingard risk was worth it IMO. We had injuries beforehand,during the match and rashford was limping. Yet with depleted resources and players people here complain about constantly we nullified liverpool and created the best chances.

I never set that standard to assess Ole in every game. I understand there are times when anomalies happens, so to do that it would be ridiculous. I only set this assessment to see if he can put in a complete performance against a top team and as the stat showed, he didn’t with Liverpool being more dominant in most area of the game.

Maybe they knew he was a risk and that Rashford could run it off, wouldnt it be better to put in Lingard for Mata instead of Sanchez, so that IF Lingard was injured they wouldnt be a man down, all things concidered? Lingard sub aside, Ole showing he has the stuff to make the job permanent.

Even the Lingard sub shows that he was brave and was trying to effect a positive change. We know Sanchez is crap and Ole said in his post match presser that Jesse was deemed fit enough for 60-75 minutes. So yes it was a risk and Ole took that risk with a view to be positive. I fully respect that.

My biggest fear was that he might get a lesson or two from the other big team managers but so far we never looked like we were played of the pitch by any of the other big teams. If we can bring in someone who can help him do a good job in the transfer market and spotting the right talents he will have a great managerial career with us as well.

Against palace I'd keep the back four from today then have Fred, McTominay and Perriera, with Pogba behind Lukaku and Sanchez.

The biggest compliment I can give him other than everything that has already been said is just how much confidence tactically I now have in our defence (don;t want to jinx it!)

Just watch the way our players understand instinctively which areas to cover to protect that box when we're being attacked.
Always vigilant tracking of runners without being obsessive, players back into a nice shape and essentially showing teams down the wings to stop teams playing through us which ironically was all too easy under Mou.

Often you'll see the top RF and RM cover each other if either of them goes to press. If both go, another Mid or the CF often drops to cover the space created etc. Just really interesting how Ole is settling us into a traditional post-Quieroz SAF defensive shape where players are growing and learning what to do when x player of ours goes and loses the ball; we rarely panic and always have covers available.

Can't wait to see what ole does now he has injuries aplenty and look forward to him being backed by the board and assemble a squad to fight on all fronts.

First, some easy ones to warm up. Then step up the challenge game by game. Then, throw in some injuries to key players to see how Ole copes. And lastly, add injuries to key players during a match to verify a correct answer to the challenges.

Whoever comes in is going to lose games against the top teams so it's unfair to apply a unique set of criteria to OGS. Every one was saying we need to how he does against PSG, Chelsea and Liverpool, Well he's had a W, D and an L and wasn't really humiliated either. Very unlucky with the injuries.

I guess people will just keep kicking the can down the road waiting for him to have a run of defeats so that they can bleat on about Poch.
