Is Ole a good appointment?

I think the long break due to Kos injury helped us. We definitely need to get sharper if Oleball has to be successful.

And like already mentioned, loving how Ole and his team celebrate after goals. There is genuine happiness for the team/players/fans etc. as compared to individual happiness/satisfaction before.

I dont think the club should make any decision on the managerial situation until the end of the campaign. Simply because whilst Ole is in this trial/interim period we are clearly seeing the best out of him. There is no need to make any decisions right now. Things are ticking along nicely at the moment.

Just saw him say they shouldn’t give it Ole and if he wins the CL and gets too 4 then they should consider it but think about Matteo at Chelsea before they do.:lol::lol:

Bitter much?
Boy am I sick and tired of people comparing this to Di Matteo.

Look at the history, the poor cnut was sacked for being 3rd in the league, 4 points off the top and hosting City who were first like 4 days later. He got sacked for the loss in Juve, despite their largely decent league form, having already beat Spurs and Arsenal away in the league. Literally the first sign of a wobble and the lunatic at the top chopped his legs out.

If Ole is 3rd in the league in mid November, 4 points off City and hosting them in 4 days time, I think he'll probably keep his job, as any sane team would do.

Ince can feck off.

Yeah. Full marks to Gabby Logan for practically laughing in his fecking face.

I can't wait for a top 6 home game now. Old Trafford will be bouncing!

If we keep up with attacking football and confidence we'll beat PSG and Liverpool at Old Trafford. City are on a different attacking level though.

If Ole signs couple of defenders ( full back and C.B ) we can achieve something with him but apparently we won't get any so hopefully we get no injury specially the midfield trio.

His biggest tests will come when he see how he is able to respond when United fall behind in a match and or how they respond to a form slump.

Ole should be given the job now. He was a really good reader of football games according to Fergie and one could say he got a masters degree in football management learning from Fergie. How he has turned us around speaks volumes about his talent, drive and ability to get the best out of players. He has managed to do so by playing prober football and putting smiles back on the faces of players, staff and fans. Were any of the previous managers able to come close to this? No is the obvious answer and I wonder how a certain know it all person is feeling seeing Solskjær having the players he deemed not good enough playing like a Man Utd team should. Ole is United and United is Ole and by that I mean attacking, positive, give youth a chance and show class.

For me, I will need to see the end of the season with Ole. As much as i love him and want him to succeed, i need to see more of what we saw tonight, the beating of a top team from a tactical point of view. I would hate it if Ole fell at the last hurdle because of not having the tactical know-how to be the UTD manager. He is everything I want in a manager.

Don't get that tbh. Let him fall a few times. We may lose a few games (big ones) - but he'll learn from them. Fergie got caught out in Europe so many times - but that didn't stop us from winning things.

According to the new ArsenalMania conspiracy theory, Ole has nothing to do with us finding form again, and its all due to Fergie grabbing the reins from the shadows:
They missed out on one thing : It's actually Mike Phelan. He has a pdf full of Fergie quotes and important notes He had put together over the years, it's a cheat sheet. He printed the important bits and stored it in his shorts just before the match. The tactic We used the other day was basically a copy paste of Fergie's tactic vs Arsenal, only with different players.

His biggest tests will come when he see how he is able to respond when United fall behind in a match and or how they respond to a form slump.
Sorry, I don’t understand these terms. Could you rephrase that?

He means we need to come from behind and get through a rocky patch.

Or we need to overcome a deficit and grind out a result after a sticky wicket

Or be shit and win and be good after being shit for a bit.

I think you missed the joke there

The thing I'm most impressed with is how in the space of a few games Ole has a settled eleven. If we were to play Man City tomorrow everyone could name the team (bar Lindelof's partner maybe). In Joses tenure I never felt he was happy with his eleven! Settled teams build cohesion- its not rocket science!

This for me too, although having watched him behind the scenes and at match day I do like his demeanour. I would like to see him become the manager but lets see him on a longer timescale, it's not an easy job being a manager but I like what I see at the moment. I thought he may be a soft touch but now think he has an inner strenght, dignity and certainly has a football brain.

Mourinho was far too focused on what the opponent could do, thus his constant changes from game to game. Ole couldn’t give a rats arse what our opponents can do, because what we can do is better and we’ll go about our own business and hammer them regardless.

Yep, it was every manager's standard response in the 70's and 80's, when interviewed about a bad result or run of results, that it was down to not being able to field a settled team, due to injuries and suspensions.

I mostly agree but we still have to see how the PSG, Liverpool and City games go.

If he beats Liverpool to knock them off the top spot he should be given a 10 year deal on Sanchez's wages.

At the very least those teams be approaching the game differently now than they would have a month ago.

Man Utd’s biggest worry should be whether it’s just a new manager bounce, look at Emery and his 22 game unbeaten streak but now they are a shambles. I think people are jumping to conclusions way too fast

It's not Emery's fault that the squad has been found out, right? It's well known now the fans are mad at Kroenke, not Emery.

I don't think it was stupid at all. If Moyes was going to succeed it would have had to be with his own staff because he lacks charisma and the ability to engage people and quickly build relationships.

There have been a lot of messages on here praising the other coaches and implying that it erodes Ole's achievements. If anything, that shows me that he can do this job long term.

He is the manager, he calls the shots, yet he has the humility and people skills to immediately form a cohesive unit within the coaching staff. He got to choose 1 of his 4 backroom staff, yet look how they interact on the bench. You can see it is a team effort and the ability to build that environment in such a short time is a testament to Ole's management skills. People talk about that as if it is easy. Delegating effectively is one of the hardest skills in management and it took years for even Fergie to do it effectively.

When you factor in a DoF coming on board, with any other manager you would worry about clashes of ego and dissention within the camp. I just can't see that happening with Ole.

Who knows how things will go for the rest of the season. There are many challenges left to come and it's unlikely he will win every game but it will take a huge collapse for me to want anyone else in the role full time.
I agree wholeheartedly, Ole is almost Fergie like in his man management skills and the way he is pulling everybody together, giving credit to all his backroom staff as well as the players...he could be the best thing to happen at United since Fergie was appointed!

I will honestly be disappointed if we appoint Poch at this point. We have waited 6 years to find a manager who plays in our style, who understands the history and traditions of the club but who is not afraid of the magnitude of it all. Someone who we as fans can identity with and get behind. Sure, there will be bumps and bruises along the way but as long as we have someone who holds on to the United ideals we will be just fine.

Absolutely. Until Ole came in, I could name most Prem teams best starting XI but not ours.

At the start of the season, Bayern and United were shocking, losing many games to the lesser team but went a lot of games winning streak at the same time, Bayern Munich has won their 6 league games in a row like us.

Have they hired Ole too?

Get the feeling from the recent games that we've been focusing less on pressing and possession, and more on counterattacking. Anyone know whether that's Oleball emerging, or mainly due to the opposition as well as players tiring?

Remember when Mou convinced the fans that we have shite players?...good times...

Dominating possession against Arsenal away and Spurs away is very difficult. Only City and Chelsea have done it.

Arsenal vs ManCity - 42% vs 58%
Arsenal vs Liverpool - 62% vs 38%
Arsenal vs Spurs - 59% vs 41%
Arsenal vs Chelsea 36% vs 64% (Chelsea were trailing from 14th min, so maybe the reason)

Spurs vs Liverpool - 60% vs 40%
Spurs Vs ManCity - 48% vs 52%
Spurs vs Chelsea - 40% vs 60% (Chelsea were trailing from 8th min)

So apart form City, only Chelsea had more possession at Arsenal and Spurs away, both times they were 2-0 down by 20-25 mins.

We have very clearly worked on pressing.

It's actually been quite nice to watch. Let the back 4 have it and press lightly, as soon as someone gets into trouble EVERYONE steps up like a shot and limits the options further forcing a long ball or turnover.

We have been pressing. Just that big teams keep the ball better than smaller teams so it's less noticeable. But against Arsenal we was pressing their keeper and defenders with 3/4 players sometimes . And if we fail to get ball we sit in compact shape with wide players coming infield ready to counter attack.
