The timing is good, have no issues with that.
Rather have it done now and gotten out of the way.
There's alot of issues within the club that need to be sorted immediately.
Next season starts now.

Decision made itself. Congratulations Ole, I was sceptical when he was appointed but he’s been fantastic. He’s impressed me tactically - where I didn’t expect him to be as strong. He managed the Spurs, Arsenal and PSG games brilliantly. He adapted tactically against Palace I think where he switched formations mid-game.

Good news. Now lets not half arse it like our last two managers have said we do. Get a DoF in and set a transfer strategy for the summer and beyond, otherwise we'll be back here again in a year or two.

Fully deserved.

Apparently, the board thinks that there is no point in delaying the appointment and that it will only help the players to have more certainty around the club.

Top 4 will be big success. The CL will be out of this world.

What happens when we end the season trophyless and outside the top four?
Still not a problem because we're top of the league since Ole took over and had great results in the cup competitions as well. We just accept that Mourinho left an almost impossible task and Ole has done brilliantly just to put us within reach by showing title winning form in his time here.

Negatives
- Distraction during a crucial top four race
- Too early to know if OGS will cut it at the top level. Could've waited until after the Barca games.
- Weird that he gets the position after two losses in a row. If they had already decided to appoint him, why didn't they announce before? Was there something good in our two losses that they hadn't seen before that tipped the decision? This just further sends out a message that the club rewards failure/mediocrity which is what has been happening with player contracts the last few years.
- If he fails between now and the end of the season, it will cost us more money to sack him. Was there a negative in waiting? It's not like signing him up early saves us any money?

Positives
- No Poch
- Positive momentum, no more speculation, purely focusing on that top 4 spot now instead of this 'who's going to be the next United boss, what do you think Smalling, Pogba, Jones? etc.

- No one is expecting us to win that Barcelona game with this team, it's unfair to judge Solskjær on that tie. There will be people stating he isn't good enough for us should we go out of that tie but if Mourinho was still here the narrative would have been the players aren't good enough to beat Barcelona. If that notion gathers enough momentum and let's say, Spurs go through to a semi-final, we all know what people will be saying. He's already proven he can cut it at the top level, time and time again.

- It's been the international break, time to sit down with all relevant parties and discuss the details and plans going forward. You're being incredibly dramatic and narrow minded if you think anyone see's Solskjær as being rewarded for back to back loses with a new contract...

- He's already succeeded so how can he fail? Our expectations after Jose was sacked were an outside the top 4 finish and a trophy-less season. Now we're in with a shout of getting into the top 4 so should Solskjær be punished for his own success? I think not. Let's remember that it was shit storm when he came in, we were flagging and looking terrible. He's got a bunch of players that he's only worked with for a few months during a season to play well and win games. Regardless of where we finish this season, he should get a free pass and be judged next season when he's had a summer transfer window and been backed with his own players. Not only that, actually had a preseason to work on tactics and formations.

There is nothing wrong with this decision today. He was always going to get the job so lets move away from the speculation and play some fecking football!

Sir Alex as DOF please.

1) There is absolutely no chance this team beats Barcelona unless they go full Mourinho and play 11 people in the box and send a single counter at the end of the game like Chelsea did. Unfortunately Messi is having a boss of a season. The tipping point was PSG, they decided after that game that Ole was the man. Literally any result against Barca is a huge win. They are just an incredible team, and we have big holes

2) http://solskjaertabellen.com/ - This is the table after Ole came. Manchester United has been the best team in the Premier League since then. They award success, not mediocrity. The reason the announcement comes now is to avoid distractions during a crucial part of the season. The national team break was the perfect time to do it.

3) He wont fail, or more to the fact: The players wont suddenly stop being good players. This isnt a team that could start losing all their games for no reason. I dont even understand why this is a concern. If you havent noticed, the brass have written this season off completely. This is why we did nothing in the January window. There is no expectation from the manager to end anywhere. The real work begins next season and next transfer window. The negative in waiting is that everyone and their grandmothers have been talking about when the appointment is going to be, from players to pundits. Its distracting to wait when it became obvious it was going this way. Plus this way the players get an immediate sense of stability. Having a boss they know will stick around is incredibly motivating especially when he's universally well liked, which appears to be the case. One distraction less for the players and the club.

Announcing this now is good cause players know who's the manager and the ones who need to can sign new contracts. Also it's instrumental he's backed in the transfer window. I hope Ed will not be like ok I appointed you, you're good enough and don't need much money.

Deserved, hopefully for you this will snowball another purple patch.

Why now? What happens if the season goes to shit between now and May, will he still be the man to take us forward then?

Another example of the how poorly run the club is tbh

What are you on about ?

Why not now ? and how is that another example of "how poorly run the club is tbh".

It's a great time. He can now focus on next year's transfers and get on with the job instead of focusing on speculations.

Spot on, there's no point in having that speculation hanging over everyone in the run in. Glad it's decided and people can stop fantasising about Pochettino now. Time to support the manager guys!

Glad it's been done, he deserves the job full time and a chance at it. I get we've had 2 bad results in a row (thought we were unlucky vs. Arsenal personally) but before that there was huge improvements with a team that looked lost under Jose. He deserves a chance to get a few other players in and build his own team and see what he does.

I don't know if I agree with it being too early, maybe there was pressure from players or anything and security for others, never know what's happened behind the scenes.

Hopefully start of a proper structure at the club now.

Hope this goes well, appointing Ole isn't enough if we don't do major changes in the way we run the football side of the club and that starts with a DoF. Hopefully this is a step in the right direction.

Let's hope Phelan signs on to stay too. He's also had a great impact since coming in. Moyes made a big mistake when he let him go.

Personally think it's good timing. Should give the players a lift and any player on the fringes will be trying to prove they deserve to be here next year. Healthy competition keeps everyone performing at the highest level.

Fantastic news, absolutely buzzing. At first i was sceptical, but for some time now i've been a believer. In Ole we trust. If things turn south, i'll still back the man. Refreshing to have someone who absolutely loves it here. Well done, on to the next.

This was bound to happen and well deserved by Ole. If you look at the last 3 managers we have had none of them has come close to having the effect Ole has on fans, players and the club. I think Ole is a very smart man and I´m sure he will approach things in similar way as Fergie did. By that I mean Fergie always had the sense as all good leaders do to surround himself with the right people with different skills to himself. I could not be happier and having a manager that´s in it with all his effort and commitment as opposed to someone that lived in a hotel for his tenure does matter. I bet Ole is the proudest man in the football world today having got the job full time at the club he loves.

Great decision! Finally doing things right as a club.
I say this as I strongly believe that if you are doing the right things results will come, and Ole has slash down that. If we made a decision solely on the basis of results it would have been stupid, as some speculate he may run out of luck, but now it seems we are appointing him because he is clearly the right guy, and no better for can be found at this point of time

The only reason the end of this season isn't already shit is because of Ole. He's the reason we even have a glimmer of hope of making top 4 or going further in the Champions League.

Are we really about judging managers after half a season and not a single transfer window to make a single squad change or upgrade? I don't understand why some fans are so negative. I can't wait to go to the game on Saturday against Watford and Old Trafford will be bouncing after this news.

For the reason I said

What was the point in doing it now instead of at the end of the season? It's not like Ole was going to be snapped up by someone else in that period.

I hope it doesn't bite us in the arse like that stupid mid-season Mourinho extension.
Molde's season starts soon so they had to appoint a new manager. It basically forced our hand, and wasn't fair on Ole or Molde to make them wait for a decision.
