No, I agree with that and we should have done more buisness but it is Woody's job to do recruitment. Don't you think they have other transfers planned than those who actually materialized? Say what you like about Ole but in my view the incompetence lies with the board and Woody. They are the reason we are in the mess we're in, Not Ole regardless if he's the right man or not for the job. No matter who you'd bring in now he would need time.

Well exactly. Do people really think the board had the money ready to go and Ole told them he didn't need any more players?

Indeed. Which makes it even more infuriating that he was only allowed to bring in 3 players. People can critise Oles tactics and team selection (a very fair critism imo), but his player transfers have been very good and have been our best players this season imo. I'd be more than happy to see him become DoF for example. Whether he'd accept that position is a different matter.

Clearly there is some plan in place. But it's inexcusable how management has accepted to throw this season in the process to clear out unwanted players. Add to our woes that we'll probably need to replace Pogba next summer as well.

True. I just feel he should've made a fuss, get a few more faces in, anyone even if it was on loan as they would've been better than what we have. Instead he kept reiterating how happy he was with the squad. Its incredibly frustrating when it's clearly visible to every man and his dog the glaring weaknesses in our squad.

The most important appointment, even moreso than the manager has to be a sporting director next. Woody is not up to it. And please, no more shoehorning ex-players into important roles.

I have one fundamental question.

Is it too much to expect players to be coached better and to expect players to pass and move better? I mean even end of Fergie years we were abysmal with that. Only time we were decent with the ball was LVG years but that was just sterile recycling of possession with no intent.

Why would he work as DOF?

Did you see the mess he created at Cardiff? Maguire and AWB are hardly hidden gems. Anyone watching premier league football could have told us to go for them. Hardly DOF worthy.

I still back him. I can see what he is trying to do with signing british players. I would give him the season. Sign a proper ten like Maddison, sign a top RW maybe Sancho and a MF. See how things pan out early next season.

Have to get rid of Mata though. Riding the gravy train.

I hope it gets better but would not surprize me if we are have a new manager next season.

I don't care where they finished last season, what we put out today isn't better than those names. I said we'd struggle for goals in the summer when everyone was happy about selling Lukaku.
Are you actually seriously suggesting if you put the attacks of those teams in our team there'd be some significant improvement? Ole knew we were selling Lukaku and Sanchez and made the decision to apparently not replace them.

There’s no point in blaming Ole. Its not his fault that he was given the job permanently.

We've not looked convincing since his initial few games.

In fairness, it was a streak of what, ten wins in a row? Including an astonishing comeback against PSG with reserves. Whatever else can be said, it's clear that he isn't so bad that the team is incapable of performing under him. I think that if there wasn't something completely rotten at the core of the club, Ole would be a serviceable manager, but not an exceptional one. He's the kind of manager that a well-run club could have for a couple of years and be fine, but he's not the kind of manager who can single-handedly keep a sinking ship afloat.

Yeah, I agree with this. We’re probably not going to win anything with him, but I think he’ll leave us in a much healthier way than he found us.

Genuine question.

How many managers in this league would you say are worse than Ole? This isn't me shitting on the guy or demanding that he be sacked, just a genuine question.

If better clubs come in for those players there is no chance they will join us.

Sack him and then what. New manager will have to work with Ed who will gladly decide which players should or shouldn't be bought no matter what the manager says or needs.
Whoever thinks a new manager with the structure being complete shambles will solve anything is pretty naive.

Liverpool will be his last game as some of us predicted this summer. We will play defensive football at home against our biggest rival and lose( yes, sounds ugly). That will not be forgiven

We could do worse than setting up to play on the counter attack though, lets be honest its comfortably when we look at our best.

I'd say our best front 4 is probably Rashford, Martial, James, Pogba (but you lose what he brings to midfield). I'd say that is 6th best in the league.

However today's front 4 James, Rashford, Pereira, Mata, there's at least 12 PL team's first choice front 4 i'd take over it. It's terrible.

We've not looked convincing since his initial few games.

It's pretty damning, that the best we performed was when he immediately came in and his influence was minimal. Then the results and performances have gotten worse the longer he's been here and the more opportunities he's had to make a difference.

He def said something out of order because if that video was longer you would see Ed turning around who was sat in front of him saying something to him.

Listen Phil Jones is Phil Jones.

Watch this and go to 0.57 seconds

 I love that Jose says that Lindelof is not that good in the air and two seconds later Lindelof misses his header in the warmup. Fecking brilliant.

Exactly. That's the thing to make me worried the most. I don't see anything to suggest it'll change either. I suppose we can rejudge when we've got a more fit squad, he's not working with his first choice players right now.

And he sets formation and lineup. Even manages trainings.
Come on, you think that Ed's type of signings were Harry, AWB and especially James? You think that Ed would sell big names like Alexis and Lukaku? Ed is a huge problem but we are throwing everything on him now. Soon i expect posts that he decides how team will play or decides what 11 will start

Hard enough as it is with the cretins we have playing for us but my god, we make it harder for ourselves by hiring such an amateur.

Agree but certainly not the attacks of West Ham, Palace, Soton and Wolves who like I said we've failed to beat this season. Teams like Bournemouth, Leicester yeah probably.

People really cant be deluded and think this is it purely due us lacking Martial and Pogba.
