Unless it's from an official source I shan't take it too seriously.

And even if it is, I'll try to remember to run by you personally to check it's authenticity!

Hopefully you never have to check that for the sake of the club.

Out of interest, since you're so hot on the stats, what results would we need from the next few matches to avoid the 'worst start in decades' stat?
Think I saw it somewhere(so you should have the benefit of the doubt) - if we don't win the next 2 it will be our worst start since the season Big Ron was sacked.

In 14/15 Van Gaal had 8 points after his first 6 games (also lost to MK Dons), the same as Poch's Spurs.

We did also take until the last week of the window to get him Blind, Rojo, Di Maria, Falcao. Might have been someone else aswell.

Yeah, but we're on the same points now from the first 4 and we won 2 out of the next 3. If we don't manage to win in one of our next two games it would be officially our worst start in PL.

Ironic that we won 6 on the trot after that bad start - one of his best streaks and generally finished top 4 that season..

I knew you'd come back with a 'but' and an 'if'.

After winning 2/3 games, we dropped points in next 3 games. First 10 games we won only 3 games and ended up with 13 points.

I think if what people expect from Ole is winning major trophies it's not realistic. People were over the moon after that PSG game and started expecting more from him, which I believe was very short sighted. He might win EL, FA/carling but that's all I think. He's no genius tactician, nor an experienced manager.

But it's not all doom and gloom. There's one very positive thing We can expect from Ole even if He doesn't win trophies - He builds a team for the future of the club. He's relentless at letting go players that's been here for too long without anything to show, He trusts the youth, He signs young talented players that fit the profile of the club and He instills attacking football and pressing.

All those things combined make sure the next manager will be in a very good place to continue after him. And by next manager I don't mean the older generation managers who play outdated football. His playstyle and paradigm is leaning towards modern managers, the kind of managers you want in the future.

Jonathan Wilson suggests that Solskjaer is one of the worst two managers in the PL and provides a great assessment of why he is out of his depth:

Ole doing a good job?

- 3 wins the last 18

- Worst win % of any permanent Man Utd manager.

- Worst start to the season in almost 30 years.

- Best player want out, clear limits in the team.

- De Gea hesitant to sign new contract

- Breaking negative records left, right and center

Can't argue with the facts.

I'm not sure if I'd go that far. But based on my own eyes, the results since he was made permanent and his indecisive nature during games - I suspect he probably is in the bottom 10 for sure.

“Give Ole a preseason”

“The double sessions and high intensity training and pressing will bear fruit”

“wants the fittest team in the league”

for fecks sake

Is that really true? He relentlessly gets rid of ones he doesn't fancy, that I'll give him.

Give me a break, this I presume is the same Wilson that was positively fawning over Ole after PSG? Very easy to be wise after the fact when you don't even have to be held accountable for your words.

I'm more than willing to listen to arguments that Ole isn't the right man, but at least give him the time to build his own squad and judge him on that.

Having a squad that isn't his, where the only three additions he brought in are coincidentally three of the best performers, and a board who thus far haven't backed him anywhere near to the same extent as what they did with LvG and Jose isn't the time to do it.

I just have to laugh at these people who think sacking him will cure all of our ills. You think Poch or anyone else would be willing to come to this mess? More fool you if you do. Ole is building for the long term and we've played more than well enough to win every game we've played. Yes we've not gotten those wins, but it's par for the course when we have the youngest team in the league. Take the short term pain for the long term gain.

Sacking yet another manager and starting all over again will guarantee at least another 3 years of being in the wilderness.

Most of us doesnt even know what system he's trying to play.

I'm backing Ole, but I find it confusing that after the good start to his tenure, he's reverting back to making quite a few of the same mistakes that his predecessor made.

- Playing players out of position, sometimes to accommodate worse players.
- Playing a subpar formation that leaves us overrun at times.
- Buying yet another left winger instead of solving the RW problem.
- Relying on low technical ability, average players in key positions.
- etc.

He needs to stop making these types of mistakes to progress. The whole reason we were flying at first was because he came in and did the opposite of Mourinho, putting our best players in not only their best positions but also their best areas of the pitch. He shouldn't start changing that now that he's the permanent manager. I can see a few patterns of his coaching appearing so hopefully, he can build on those positives while eliminating the poor decisions.

High press and counter attacking... how's that possible?

This is how modern football is going.

High Press counter attack when you don't have the ball

Possession football when you do

I don't think it is that hard to understand. When the opponents have the ball, players are pressing yet also are ready for the mistake and to counter quick. By winning the ball up high and the team is not set.

When we have the ball i.e goalkick / throw ins, we keep possession and try and break opponents down.

Not sure of a complete system yet, but he is coaching a few patterns, eg. Pogba's long ball to Rashford. I remember them mentioning the work on both the ball and the run in training.

We don’t play possession football. Well we do but with no sense. So we just give it the opposition back to allow us to be able to score a goal.

Why not make Fred the Red manager. Give him 3 years, and then judge him. Sacking him when he’s proved his out of his depth after 6 months and one window won’t prove anything.

Agree with a lot of what he says.
1) Appointing Solskjær was genius.
2) Making him permanent showed no football understanding
3) The 99 and SAF references were great... at first. But the longer it went on the more it showed Ole weak.
4) No pattern of play, no constructed attacks.

We dont need stars on every line. Saf is the master of it. He has one or two star players on every line and filled the rest with good squad players that he "fooled" into thinking they're very good players.

Motivation. He never sideline or critized anyone. He kept it to himself. But he hold grudges. We hear nothing and suddenly x is sold. That is management. Ruthless and cunning but effective. Nice when you have to ruthless when you need to.

Ole is only ruthless when he should embrace everyone. Fool then into thinking they have a plan. And sell them later on when he's ready and had his replacement line up.

I agree with a lot of Wilson says. However, he (Wilson) began constructing this 'Ole as Fergie-obsessed acolyte' shortly after he was given the job permanently, and since then, has stubbornly held on to that line (the Psycho bit, while amusing, has clearly been carefully crafted. Wilson might be a tactics buff, but the comedy doesn't really come as easily to him as it does to the likes of Glendenning and Ronay.)

To be honest, I don't think Ole has really been guilty of clinging on to Fergie ideals - he obviously has an idea of a 'United' way, but what true doesn't? I'm not sure if Ole is good enough to take us to the next level, but labelling him one of the 2 worst managers just seems a bit over-the-top and attention-seeking. I'm not sure we'd be doing any better with the likes of Steve Bruce or Roy Hodgson.

First of the 3 matches that will decide his fate. Win all 3 and we are flying.

I think senior players in United can tell how out of depth Ole is , they used to listen to Mourinho explaining his tactic and detailed analysis of enemy opposition. Now what they heard is only about running hard and having pride to play for the club.

True. But steve bruce and roy didnt get a sniff at becoming united manager. If they eventually by miracle got the seat they'll be sacked pretty much on the spot if they win 3 in 16. Lambaster every steps they took. While ole got people defending him right left center

He probably is.

Anyone can fecking talk. Go and do what you say you are going to do.

I'm resigned to us finishing 10th this season given our wafer thin squad and such incredible lack of quality, though I don't believe that's on ole. The signings that he's made have been good and he's got us playing football the right way. He can't really help it if the gk makes a blunder or players miss penalties or if they get injured.

At this point, I'm willing to give him more time because he seems to have the right idea about the kind of football we wanna play and the type of players we need to get in and get out.

Job done today with 3 points but I don't see any attacking football, just peak Mourinho ball. Negative from the start, only rely on counters, be unbelievably efficient to go a goal up, and then spend the rest of game creating little before hanging on for dear life to protect a narow lead.

3 points with key players missing and a pen scored, we might of had more points if we actually scored those pens.

Poster above doesn't know what hanging on for dear life looks like and this was not it.
