Yes that might be a good first eleven, with exception of Matic but that's fine. What do you think about the rest of the squad? Do you think the squad is good enough to get top 4? How much creativity is really there? Othe than Pogba/ Rashford and Martial who are both inconsistent at best who can we expect goals and assists from?
tell me where the goals are going to come from... we don't have an out-and-out goalscorer. to think Marial or rashford will get 20 in the seaon is about as realistic as thinking we are all going to become millionaires after brexit!

Moyes
Van Gaal
Mourinho
And now Olé

And you still don't get it..

That isn't the point. Ole came up big promises back end of last year, he hasn't delivered anything.

The blame lies on Ed Woodward and the board, but Ole will not be immune to any of it.

I still think Ole is going to do a good job. Seems like i'm in the minority.

I feel the same.

Ed hasn't made it easy for him though. Top 4 would be an excellent achievement with that group of midfielders.

What will Ole's excuse be now when we are rotting in 7th place?

Last season was - can't wait for pre season, whip the boys in shape
- Some players will not play for Manutd again
- need 4/5 bodies

Pre season - he mentioned he is happy with the work in the transfer window.

What will Ole blame? we won't accept "the other team was better than us" anymore. You have had a pre season to prepare.

Failure is not an option.

Maybe you won't, but don't use we when just talking about yourself. Ole wanted more signings, that much is obvious. Even after we signed Maguire, he mentioned that we are still looking for players. He said that if we sold Lukaku we will get a replacement in, and that is what he wants. But getting those players is upto Woodward who has screwed it up. He wanted to keep Herrera, but we could not keep him and that is upto Woodward.

Woodward has just messed up again. I said at the start of the window that I would want a clearout as well, but the chances of that happening and replacing them with Woody in charge was unlikely.

Let's say those assurances aren't meant, what can he do about it ? Resign after just recently signed ? I don't think he'd have the balls to do that.

You have something written into your contract. You certainly don't say at the end of the season that a load of players have to be replaced only to then say a couple of months later that you are very happy with the squad. Show some heart. Show some ambition. Show something other than the willingness to be a puppet.

If Ole doesn't have the balls to resign after his comments pre-summer and the way it's unfolded, he was never a Utd manager to begin with then.

Either way, these next few days will tell me a lot.

yeah his wife will probably stab his fecking eyes out or at least divorce him. Imagine walking away from that type of money to prove a point. Idealistic from a fans point of view — would make him a martyr and a hero in the eyes of many but totally unrealistic.

This is what I liked about Zidane leaving Real Madrid last year, he knew he wasn't gonna get backed even after Ronaldo was sold. Ole doesn't have that mentality, he'd probably sacrifice his name and reputation for the club. Considering what was being said towards the end of last season, Woodward did him dirty.

I agree. A manager like him, at the stage of his career (small reputation, his first big opportunity), was never gonna do that.

Exactly, I will not feel bad for Ole if he is sacked. He should have made demands before signing a contract and resigned if they were not delivered.

He has accepted this squad, and trusting the club.
You want our manager to be as fickle as the fanbase? throwing toys out of the pram for not getting a new toy. Fck me the state of people here. There's a reason we didn't go around throwing money at random new toys cause it hasn't worked for the last six years. We had specific targets to fill holes in the team, we got some and some we didn't. And I feel Ole has utmost confidence on the kids to fill the gaps when needed, and I do on Ole.

I thought the United fans wouldn't be as fickle fans as City, Chelsea etc, but I guessed completely wrong. I think you lot will start booing Ole as soon as United face their first bad result.

It has nothing to do with balls, no manager will just resign because he did not get what he wants. A manager's job is to get the best out of what he has, and there are plenty of managers out there who don't always get what they want.

It sucks, but hopefully he takes this chance to blood in some youngsters.

Mate no one since Fergie has.. Jose got shafted after he signed a 3 year extension.
No Mourinho shafted himself when he deliberately belittled our club, our players to big himself up. He was pathetic, I'd even forgive Moyes as he was just shite but not Mourinho. You make it sound as if the three year contract was shoved down his throat, he engineered that himself by having his agent leak about PSG wanting him and got paid quite well.

Not only that. It absolutely doesn’t help the club at all. I’m gonna tell you - I don’t care about where we finish this season as long as I enjoy watching united again. That’s all I ask from Ole and in honestly I think that’s all any fan should ask of Ole at least for this season . If we fire Ole we’re not winning the league for 50 years at least.

Okay sorry I wont accept him saying "the other team was better than us" It will apply to 3 games this season.

I will accept bad results but bad performances? Thank feck we have fans like you who will accept it.

Ed Woodward has failed, I agree but Ole was "delighted" with the transfers done prior to Maguire.
Yes, he said they are working on deals, never did he mention he wants players in.

Lastly, he said, we will replace if we lose a player. He replaced Lukaku with Maguire.

Just because you are willing to accept crap, I certainly won't.

I agree. A manager like him, at the stage of his career (small reputation, his first big opportunity), was never gonna do that.

Yeah a lot of reasons not to resign. It would be an absurd decision from his personal point of view.

Zidane did it last year but obviously the situations are very different. Marcelo Bielsa did it numerous times (2 days after at Lazio even). It is very rare but it can happen under certain circumstances.

I still think Ole is going to do a good job. Seems like i'm in the minority.

Not just you bud. Lots of spoilt whiny fecks throwing their toys out of the pram because they didn’t get their quota of shiny new presents.

Well, I guess the transfer window is over..... No right wingers or even attackers to say the least. No doubt we had the funds to purchase them. Arsenal got Pepe for £72m over five years. A deal we could have easily afford. Moreover, Bruno and Dybala who could do a job there in an inverted role. We sold Lukaku, so we have the fund, so I don’t understand why Ole thinks we will be better of with lingard or Mata on the right. Maybe there was no British right attackers available this summer.

Edit:
I just remembered we got Daniel James . So we did get an attacker, but not a right winger. From pre-season, I don’t have much hope from him besides being a speed merchant that can annoy players with tired legs.

Conveniently ignoring the fact that we tried to sign Dybala and he asked for insane wages and agent fees, and Eriksen who apparently told us his heart is set on Spain. Pepe to Arsenal is obnoxious, but I'm more annoyed we didn't seem to be looking at more "unknown" options like Chiesa. To your point about Mata and Lingard: based on pre-season, we're more likely to see Mata as a 10 and not on the wing (thankfully). Sadly, that means we'll see more of Jesse filling that hole, which I would have preferred to avoid this year. It isn't ideal and we are both in agreement that we should have brought in better players than Lingard to fill that role.

Again, though, we come back to my original point, which is: how do you know that Ole didn't want to sign a winger and wants to persist with Lingard and Mata out there? Has there been a report that leaked his transfer list? Or a report where he's quoted as telling Ed "nah Ed, don't worry, we'll be great with Jesse and Mata on our RW"? I can't understand why people like yourself are so in love with this idea of using "young and British" as a dull (and rather thoughtless) stick to bash Ole with. If anything, people should be pissed off at Ed for not bringing in reinforcements for our wide areas (besides James). I find it hard to believe Ole is chuffed with the idea of relying on Jesse as our starting winger this season, especially after a lackluster preseason from him. Assigning blame when you don't know the full story is foolish and really grinds my gears.

Right you are. Can you actually imagine this team without Pogba in it?

Batten down the hatches, that's the stuff of nightmares! :nervous:

Probably won't have to imagine. Given his proclivity for going AWOL on the pitch I suspect we'll see what it looks like fairly regularly.

Yeah a lot of reasons not to resign. It would be an absurd decision from his personal point of view.
No wonder they offered him a permanent deal quickly, they knew they could basically deal with him much easier than someone with higher pedigree. Woodward and his team have been manipulating things for a while now.

Well, we already know Zidane has got balls anyway.

On one hand, Ole may love the club, but this isn't the same Man Utd anymore. He is dealing with Woodward who will sell him down the river at the first opportunity.

If he accepts it now, what's to think this won't happen again next summer too?

This is why he was made permanent very quickly.

I think this has caught him out when he made those bold statements. He remembers what it used to be like

Agreed. Hopefully it’ll bite them back in the arse and the fans/Man Utd pundits/ex players turn on the Glazers and whip up a storm. I almost see Ole as a sacrificial lamb at this point as I realistically expect him to fail unfortunately.

I am sorry but where in my post have I mentioned throwing money? Fickle? please explain?

Ole himself said there will be players who will not play for this club again.
Ole himself said he wants 4/5 new players.

I am not expecting a £300m spend, we have a net spend of less than £100m for a "rebuild"

The problem is not fans like me, it is like you, accepting 5th place.

The booing wont be aimed at Ole, it will be aimed at the club. Ole signed a contract in Feb/March and the reason we were happy, he can identify what needs done in the market. We signed a talent, and a RB. Maguire was also looked at last year, so you cannot say he was Ole's choice.

Lastly, going into a season with basic midfield and a inconsistent strike force. I am sorry, that does not fill me with any confidence.

Yeah and hook line and sinker. If Ed wasnt going to back him he should have let him go.
Dont even try to put any of this on anyone else than our dear ****Ed.

Anyone think a disaster this season might tarnish Ole's status as a legend? Hes been set up to fail, no doubt but we all know how erratic half of our fanbase is.

Much as the cnuts on here think they matter, they don't. The supporters home and away know where the issues lie...

Dybala was rumored to be a lukaku replacement. As I stated, he could do a job on the right but is not a right winger. The point still stands. Our lack of interest in Pepe or even Chiesa as you mentioned showed that right attacker was never on Ole mind.

To answer your question, you don’t need a leaked transfer list or report to know what was Ole priority. We spent £80m on Harry “slabhead” Maguire. £80m on Harry Maguire. We spent the most of any premier league club on a single player. This did not happen without Ole agreement. He could have utilized the resources at his disposal more effectively. We have 7 center backs and no right winger. Yet ole believed that centerback is more of a priority or that a specific player was more of a priority than addressing multiple areas of our team. If ole can get £80m for Maguire then, there is no doubt he could have gotten a right attacker like Pepe or Chiesa if he taught they were a priority.

Fully agree

Just because you are willing to accept crap, I certainly won't.

If the other team is better than us, it matters feck all if you accept it or not. Our squad is not good enough to get top four, and while solving some issues, others have gotten worse.

Every team has bad performances, but relying on largely the same poor team and a bunch of youngsters and expecting consistent great performances is delusional. Unfortunately we have fans like you who expect something this unrealistic with the squad we have.

Of course Ole is 'delighted' with the transfers done prior, the transfer are good, there just are not more of them, something he was expecting to get. Also, working on deals means he wants and expects more players in, if you don't understand that then the problem is you.

He said we will replace Lukaku with a suitable replacement, as in get a striker. We did not replace him at all. Maguire was not his replacement, and if you think that, then the problem is you again.

Just because you are ready to moan about everything, and blame Ole for things out of his control, don't think everyone else will.

fecking hell, the mental gymnastics with that  ignoring all the context with it being a question ON THE feckING INCOMINGS.

Seriously, shut your PC down and have a breather...

Window is closed so now the whining and crying that we didn't get this player or that player. Let Ole coach the squad and improve the players we have, the man loves the club and is passionate about making us better. He's not just here for a paycheck like Jose last season. We're not winning the league, that wouldn't have change with Bruno, Dybala or Eriksen. Ole's focus is on improving the club, he's standing behind his players. Getting the players to buy into his style and play for him will have more of an impact than any player we were linked to and didn't bring in. Fans losing their mind because we didn't buy Bruno, when they've maybe seen him play twice and now that's the end of our season ffs.

Anyone think a disaster this season might tarnish Ole's status as a legend? Hes been set up to fail, no doubt but we all know how erratic half of our fanbase is.
Only among idiots with zero sense of perspective.
