It was different, yes. In his first period he signed some class players for the league's standards, with the like of Eikrem, Angan, Daehli, etc... The team were playing mostly 4-3-3, if I remember correctly, one-touch play in the last third so that you hardly believed your own eyes. I don't think people realise how far behind Molde were before OGS took over. Now, in his last period he wasn't able to sign the greatest of players and as a result modified his philosophy. Playing mostly 4-4-2 or even 4-5-1, our play didn't really scare anyone. What I remember is both myself and many others as being grumpy over his decisisions... especially subs throughout the match, just like we see now at Utd. You kind of felt the players didn't really care, and that's the worst feeling you can have as a football fan. iwould say his approach was modern. Attacking, aggressive football for the most part, however, this changed a bit in his last spell, probably mostly because of the players not really being able to play like that...
Yes, he was opportunistic and changed his plans from match to match, however, to my liking he became waaaay too defensive in his last spell, unnessecarily so. He made some really bad signings, players that would disappear without even playing a single game... however, these were mostly "low risk" signings we didn't really have to invest much into. Some signings were good of course.
When it comes to the youth, we really developed good players at his disposal... Eirik Hestad, Sander Svendsen, Tobias Svendsen, Erling Haaland, etc. Some of these are even locals, and no doubt OGS was an important factor in this. His experience from the Utd academy surely showed fruitful here.
Exactly, it's all relative. Come on, we beat Ajax twice in the group stage in the Europa League, absolutely crushed Fenerbahce and Celtic and won our group because of Ole's work. This is MOLDE we are talking about. We also nearly excelled into the Champions League against Basel.
