Why compare Ole to Klopp when Klopp has won the CL and PL in his recent time there. Also he has a defined style and they might have struggled at the start, but are on a very upward trajectory.
He was arguing that Ole had the same points as Klopp after 3 years. I am sure Ole has spent a shed load more on transfers at that stage. I was challenging him, not defending Ole at all. There is no comparison

What can Neville possibly say in defence of Ole based on the magnitude of signings the last 3 years? I understand and appreciate the other systemic issues caused by the Glazers, they are generally shit, but they have delivered on top quality targets for Ole. This is just a managerial issue now, and while he and other United legends will have to toe the line, it’s just best to call a spade a spade at this point.

Hes just going to way we need to find a balance. Thats about it.

I know you were not defending him. To me it is when we have dropped points and who against. It has to be remembered as well that Liverpool had a lot of players out last season, so dropped points they very likely would have won. They still thrashed us when it mattered at the business end of the season.

Of course he has got a freer ride than the other ex United managers. Not one of the his mates in the media has said anything directly about his incompetency. Of the media or ex players only Sherwood has been steady in saying that it is due to him that United is playing so badly. Only now has Hargreaves started saying about tactics. Obviously they are friends and he is not going to say much against his friend in the public. It is so obvious that as a pundit they have to say something because it has been terrible since the Leeds game. We may have won some games but we have not been in control of any game after that.

Neville has given him much more rope than he did with Jose, that i agree on, but Scholes and Keane have all critized him when it was called for. On the other hand you have the likes of Castles and Wilson who wouldnt give him any credit even if he won the treble

No United manager gets a free ride, they simply dont

It's not just the dropped points, the performance are poor, the tactics are poor. Even his man-managment is bad and people big that up as one of his strengths.

It made me laugh when they said they were having 5 subs for the rest of the Carabao Cup, that we went out of. Ole struggles with three subs nevermind the five.

We could have 20 subs and he would still pick the same players fit or not, still bring the same players off the bench. Big boys club

Spurs who have been absolute shit in the league this season are already ahead of us in the table if they win today despite playing City, Chelsea and Arsenal.

But..but.. 5 points away from the top ?

Think with Ole the more bigger name and better players he is given, the more he struggles.
It's not just that. Take yesterday for example, he plays Maguire who was clearly not fit instead of Bailly. Imagine how Bailly must feel. I have seen people say on here that Ole doesnt trust him, so why give him a new contract then. The club is a shambles from the owners to the board to the coaches.

One of SAF's main attributes was managing the squad, making all of the players feel important, like they have a part to play. Ole picks his favourites come hell or high water, and then has the audacity to say that's why we lost the Europa final because they were tired. Nothing to do with Ole running the same players into the ground week in week out.

I see nothing good in keeping him.

If we lose next week and Chelsea win it will be 8 behind the leaders, seven behind Liverpool. It could go very wrong, very quickly. The ones who run the club however will just write the league off as long as we can get fourth place. All that money spent for fourth place.

5 points away from the top is essentially game over isn't it?

I remember in a time when we were good, if we had a 5 point lead at the top it was pretty much curtains for the rest of the league

I was seriously annoyed about Maguire. He has run that lad into the ground, playing him and playing him. Now he is picking up injuries. He did the same with Rashford. Played him when he was obviously playing through pain. He has no concern for the welfare of his players.

No it's shit when all your rivals played a lot of big games already while your strongest opponents were Leicester, West Ham and Villa and they're all ahead of you in the table. Spurs played City, Arsenal and Chelsea, they lost 3 games in a row by 3 goals each and now look, they win today and they're ahead of us in the table even though we had a pretty damn easy fixture list to start the season with.

With the fixture lists of us and our rivals, we actually should have been leading the table before we start our upcoming tough run.

Next few months are going to be ugly. It’s going to be horrendous to watch but you have to hope that the pain will be offset by his and the back room staff getting the sack.
I don’t think the last few months of Jose was as bad as this on the pitch. It was the background stuff that made that period worse. These last few months have been football hell.

just listened to TalkSPORT and there are United fans wanting to give him more time and money. Do these people not watch us?

I'm sort of agreeing with you there. I was making a point that if Fergie's teams had a 5 point lead it was curtains for everyone else pretty much.

5 points is a lot to recover, and added to that as you said, we still have a lot of tough fixtures to overcome.

Who is god's name do they think will now want to be coached by Ole.

I hate the board for letting this happen. Fans are turning on a club legend and it is only going to get worse.

How will anyone spin a reason for keeping ole if or likely when we crash out at the group stages of the champions league despite a favourable drawn group, there can be no excuses.

Ole will always be a club legend but he has taken us as far as he can to the best of his ability.

All in all, it's not a bad job that he's done and I do appreciate his work. But if we seriously want to win again, we just can't settle with 'not bad' anymore.

Not been backed, we missed a DM to survive against the giants of Young Boys, Atalanta and Villarreal. How can you stop the attacking force of Young Boys when you dont have a world class midfield.

I’m convinced most of these so called Utd fans calling in are oppo fans on a WUM. There’s no way any proper Utd fan can sit through this shite every week and think we’re headed in the right direction and more time and money is going to fix these problems.

Aye, he'll always be looked upon as an absolute legend as a player.

His managerial stint will be looked upon in a range of varying ways. For me, it's all a little bit indifferent. I'll thank him for leaving behind a good squad though.

Luckily I can easily separate the playing career from the management career so I will never have any ill feeling to Ole quite the opposite.

But he's done his job in fixing the squad to some extent now he needs replacing and remembering for the best parts of his playing career.

I’m almost certain that this will not happen with the squad we have. We will get to the ucl knock outs and get top 4 easily due to the sheer talent we have. Thats the sad part isn’t it. Our inept board will see it as sufficient and not care about challenging for league etc. Ole is here to stay thanks to their expectations.

Think with Ole the more bigger name and better players he is given, the more he struggles.

His initial remit was basically just to bring Martial and Pogba back in from the cold and coddle them for 6 months. And he did that fairly well.

But now he's tasked with balancing a squad that's comically top heavy. And top heavy through his own awful squad management.

He's made promises to at least three forward players in the summer, to give them more game time, that he won't be able to keep. They will all be sick of him.

Now he also has to manage Pogba, Bruno, Cavani, Ronaldo, Sancho, Rashford and Greenwood to cover four positions and he's failing miserably at it. Pogba and Ronaldo have already turned. Cavani is probably a bit disgusted with how he's been treated, coerced into staying another season only to end up being Ronaldo's back up. Bruno is clearly going a bit stir crazy. How long until the English lads start to turn on Ole? Sancho already looking disillusioned. Can also see Ole religiously sticking with Rashford and Greenwood on the wings now as they are both very much "his guys", much like McFred.

I'd imagine Donny and Eric are pretty fed up with him. He speaks with forked tongue. I wonder what he will do midweek. I am just waiting for him to rest everybody for Liverpool and completely misjudge that Atalanta are a good side and speed up our exit from the CL.

People here are in for a surprise if they think we're getting top 4 easily this season.

This team is currently in free fall and nothing short of sacking Ole is gonna change that.

You can almost guarantee for the next few weeks we'll see Cavani, VdB and Lingard all start both games vs Atalanta. Maybe Martial too if fit. Big names will be dropped and then brought back in for Liverpool/Spurs. Ole will do this because of the pressure on the league games and because he'll underrate Atalanta, but funnily enough I can see it accidentally working in his favour and the European team doing okay in those games.

We'll see McFred, Bruno, Rashford and Ronaldo start in all the league games. Pogba and Greenwood will be fighting it out for the last starting place.

I think we need to stick with him and assess again at the end of the season.

The Ole In mob will worship their man until the very end. It will just be more pathetic clutching at straws by them along the way.

I don’t think it is. OT will be chanting his name on Wednesday night. He has a lot of support. Why do you think Neville doesn’t go in on him - he plays to the numbers.
Hiring an ex players was probably Ed’s biggest win when he’s gambled. Have the fans turning on each other before questioning the club.

He has in the stadium, but they moan and groan to each other when not singing his songs, then say they want him gone once they leave the stadium. Ole thinks he is doing great.
