We have the best squad we have had in years and Ole cant coach them, its sad as we might not get the chance to win anything with this team, if SAF had this team years ago we would be winning the lot, Sorry Ole as a player you were great as a manager you are lost, should have won a trophy last season and you cocked that up to

Worrying signs started against Roma and Liverpool back in May imo + Villarreal of course. I guess after 3rd and 2nd finish it's not awful decision to keep him, but after these few months we've had this season so far, there's no reason to wait for too long anymore.

Exactly. The second leg vs Roma and the game vs Liverpool never got the focus they should have. And it inevitably led to that poor final.

The Ole in crowd are as daft as the Brexit mob who still insist that is was/is a good thing for the UK.

This is no longer a blip of bad form - Ole genuinely doesn’t know what to do with a group of quality players. He looks lost.

Just before Ayoze Perez was about to come in as a sub, Rodgers was on his ears, explaining the tactics. Never see that kind of passion from our coaching team. All we see is a quite word or two from Carrick.

Can this stop now please.

Nah feels different this time.

It does tbf, but you just never know. If we somehow manage wins against Atalanta and Liverpool over the next 8 days, the narrative totally switches once again. Although it looks unlikely, it's the kind of thing that's happened during his tenure.

Can't really argue with that. I'm expecting a draw on Wednesday and a spanking on Sunday though.

Maybe, but I thought this so many times before and he pulls the results out of the bag. Beat Liverpool next week (yeah, i know, probably not going to happen), and most is forgiven.

Yeah that turned out bad for Chelsea or Bayern. Or wait...
This is the curse with this club - the attitude being displayed by the OP - too much sentimentality and too little in the way of objectivity. People talk as if sacking an underperforming manager is sacrilege but we have seen three top clubs do it and succeed instantly.

The issues within the club are complex. We have an incompetent board protecting an incompetent manager because sacking him just two months after giving him a new contract will make them look like the idiots they are. So we are basically prolonging the agony of sacking a club legend, expose him to ridicule and sacrifice another season just to make Woodward and his Glazer overlords look good.

Another baffling decision today I just can’t understand how he goes against common sense.

I'm really not sure about Atalanta, but I'm fully expecting a defeat against Liverpool. However, us winning the next 2 games and going through the motions all over again, wouldn't surprise me. It seems to be how his tenure has played out, literally anytime there has been real pressure on him. But I do agree, it feels different this time.

It was so crazy that so many fans argued that United did the right thing by giving him a new contract . It was an absolutely terrible decision and anyone but United plus those handful of fans could have seen this situation coming . It sums up United though because we just make bad decisions after bad decisions. Just think about the fact that they extended the assistants this week !!! . Does anyone at the top of the club actually watch this team play or know anything about football at all .

Longer he is here the more of a mess he’ll leave behind, yes it makes everyone at the club look incompetent but that’s going to happen when they have to sack him anyway.

This whole rebuild and cultural reboot has always been devoid of any substance and whoever succeeds Ole has a lot of work to do.

When did you guys realise Ole wasn't the right guy? For me it was Arsenal away 2019
Few games after he joined. The results were good but it was clear that he isnt a modern manager at all. We were never gonna be a team that presses high, knows how to press and of good positional play, despite the initial good results.

He has done far better than I expected ultimately, but he is just very average.

I think a big loss against Liverpool while under all this pressure will be the end of him here, like it was for Mourinho.

Same for me, and we finished that season in relegation form. I wanted Pochettino

Crazy to think that Arteta might outlast Ole, or that Spurs, who are apparently so bad, could be above us in the table tomorrow, having already played City, Arsenal away, and Chelsea.

Possibly, but I don't really expect our owners to be that proactive. It took until 16 December to bin off Mourinho, while he was in sabotage mode. Our tough run of games goes right up until the end of November, so the earliest I see him being sacked is December. I hope I'm wrong though, because we clearly left it too late with Mourinho. If things stay this bad, he has to go soon.

Yeah thats what i noticed in the Arsenal game, i'll never forget that match i swear. We went behind and you could just see Ole had no idea how to get us back in the game tactically. Also i agree with the latter part.

If we hadn't appointed him the best he would have done is get another job at a side facing relegation and probably go down again. Even if he'd eventually been approached by a Villa or Everton it would have raised eyebrows let alone Manchester United.

Not a good game for Ole to install confidence in the fans or the board. Few more losses in succession in the next month and we will be out of the race. Not that I believed we hqd a strong chance, but it won't do well for Ole's reign if we slip off so early.

By the end of his care-taker tenure.

I was one of the few who was carried away by our results early on, and never did pay attention to the under-lying stats. I wanted him to get the gig, but only in the summer. But, we messed up by appointing early.

Our run of form towards the end was terrible, the thing which struck most to me was he failed to arrest the decline when it started. This is something we've seen repeat over and over in his tenure, once we hit a bad patch, that run goes on for few games. What made it all the more bizarre and bemusing was the fact, he spoke of a total cultural reboot, which meant a 3 year project with lots of incoming and outcomings. And, funnily, fans lapped that up. The same set of players who went on a 12-13 game winning run few months ago, were not needed at the club.

When Ole's reign will be re-visited in few years time, we'll be asking the question, how the feck did we think it was a good idea to have him at the helm to do all of that?

It finally feels different to me as well. I think he’s hanging on by his fingernails this time and I just don’t think we’ll get the results he needs.

I don’t agree with anyone who says another coach would have us winning the league with these players. They are good players but the quality is thin in CM which is a critical position.

There’s a multitude of arguments about what’s wrong and whose fault it is but the inescapable truth is we’re losing too often.

That was the last time my support for Ole wavered before I fully backed him with whatever excuses and good feels.

My instincts back have since proven to be correct.
