Blocking the view of keeper surely is a foul. But it’s far from that in this case, no excuse.
Neh absolutely no excuse, should be cruising against Villa at home by then. Think it is an offside though but it doesn’t excuse the poor performance.

See? Exactly. If it wasn't for this, we would have won comfortably, probably 4-0 or something. We were coasting all game until refs ruined it.

I dont think we deserved to win, however football is a low scoring game and if your goal is wrongly disallowed or like in today's case the opponent's goal is wrongly allowed to stand, there is a good chance that we're talking about a point swing

Glad to see some of the more reasonable 'Ole in' guys posting some good, nuanced stuff. The others, who are a wee bit rabid, are off in their echo chamber in the general frothing at the mouth.

Him blaming VAR after that performance is rich.
It is. Villa have done evrything we could have wished for with how they played and we still couldn't score a single goal. Their goalie wasn't even a superhero.

Also they cut us right through 3 or 4 times and were good value for that one goal.

Man City - Pep Guardiola
Liverpool - Jurgen Klopp
Chelsea - Thomas Tuchel
Man United - Ole Gunnar Solskjaer

“One of these kids is not like the others, can you guess which one it is?”

A minor point, but one I noticed as soon as Shaw wasn’t right. Why was Telles not on the bench, but each of Lingard, Sancho, Cavani and Martial were? Martial was never going to get on despite multiple injuries or chasing a goal, but Dalot isn’t a left back as the game showed. Lingard, Sancho and Cavani were all sufficient for attacking changes.

Totally different footballing philosophy. We need a top coach with passion.

Conte is a counter attack type of manager. He's also very self destructive. He burnt bridges with Juventus, with Italy and with Inter. He's got this his way or the high way mentality both with the club and his players.

Needing two or three more world-class players, in addition to the many we have already, only highlights Ole's limitations as a manager.

If he can't get a team containing a rejuvenated DDG, Shaw, Maguire, Varane, Bruno, Pogba, Cavani, Sancho and Ronaldo - all of which would be considered world-class or thereabouts - to outperform the likes of West Ham Young Boys and Villa, then serious questions have to be asked.

Sarcasm mate. I am Ole out from his first full season as I already knew that he is no match for United.

And yes, it’s criminal to perform like this with our star-studded team.

saf would have done exactly the same to take pressure off the squad. absolutely correct way to do it in the media. he will tell the players that it wasnt good enough
He probably will, like he probably has done numerous times over the years.

It’s what happens afterwards that is the problem, which is the exact same performance over and over and over again, despite getting a DoF, despite getting an amazing group of talented players and despite getting three fecking years.

I wonder what Ole thinks honestly. I suppose no manager would ever willing put his hand p and acknowledge he won't be able to take the team higher, in this game you HAVE to back yourself to be able to win titles and be a success.

I'm sure he thinks that he has done well turning the team of players we have into a better unit than it was when he came, but I wonder what he will be thinking now, he got the tools and the team and the backing to contend but he is coming up short so far.

In his own words a while back he said he would not hold the club back or something to that effect...really doubt he would actually step away from the club if he can see it's not going as he thinks it should, he will just keep going till the club sack him.

I've seen everyone seems to agree that Ole recruitment is his saving grace.
Is it really?

I think bar Bruno, almost all his buys is underwhelming at best. This is related also with his tactics. Seems like the tactics he wanted to play doesn't really make sense with his buys.
Maguire: have stated several times that Ole wanted to play a higher line, but instead he bought a player who's slow for a world record fee.
AWB: he wanted to play with attacking full backs, instead he bought a full back who's a good tackler, average defender and anything but good at attacking
Sancho and VdB: all his years at United, he made us plays fast counter attacking football with focus on the wings. And then he went out and bought two players who thrives on possession football and patient build up. It doesn't make any sense.

Are we going to have to wait to be out of Europe and the title race again, to even consider a change?

It’s just so frustrating. Wasting years with some great players on the hope that a coach might improve in the job, or that the pure quality of the players might mean it doesn’t matter so much.

There will always be days like today, and when the coach isn’t good enough, even when the players are world class, those days will come just often enough to mean that we never really challenge for anything.

We should be taking advantage of the fact that Ronaldo is here and we have some fantastic options to really make a go of it. We are holding ourselves back.

Please don’t write off another season with this. Make a change! It’s a coaching job at one of the biggest clubs in the world. No one is sending Ole to the gulag! It’s ok to change coaches if it isn’t working.

Seen this a few times. Maybe i’m missing something but didn’t he kind of leave because the club planned on selling all his key players? Which they then proceeded in doing so after he left the club.

What the feck is this shit? We bring in a never ending production of line of quality players and it's the same old excuses. Do we have to wait until we hit rock bottom before we change things? When are we gonna behave like a big club and appoint a real top class manager?

Ok. I leave tactics to the real managers.

But, how on earth did he not sub Greenwood? He really needs to send a message to the players.

No point in having Ronaldos movement and finishing if we play like this. Awful.

I went from Ole-in to out with that game. Same old problems, can't deal with a high press, over reliance on individuals in the final 3rd.

Just given the sheer amount of talent at his disposal, we'll get top four but no way we can take the next step under him.
Hi Teja welcome to the Ole-out group, we meet every Thursday, please bring your own toilet seat.

Maybe but with SAF you knew there was something good on the horizon.

it was also a different time when it was a 2-3 horse race, now it’s a 5-6 horse race & the worse teams can put up a good fight too.

Durign SAF’s reign. No chance.

saf would have done exactly the same to take pressure off the squad. absolutely correct way to do it in the media. he will tell the players that it wasnt good enough

Will he? He never seems to tell them during a game. Fred could decide to kneel down and have a wank in the centre circle and I think the most the manager will muster is to whisper his disapproval before continuing to sit biting his lip

I think going forward, we just need to play Pogba or VdB deeper. I get that we probably won't be as solid as we usually are with McTominay and Fred, but you'd imagine we'd keep the ball better, which, as a result, pushes teams back more.

Today, Villa pushed onto us because they possibly knew we didn't have the midfield to cope with it.

That being said, they did do the same thing against Tuchel's Chelsea a couple weeks back and got a lot of success from it, despite losing 3-0 - a game that didn't reflect the score.

This x100

McFred are only decent when we play teams that expect to beat us and and press high (City, Liverpool) where as vs teams that keeps their shape, those two offer feck all in terms of build up play and progressive ball carries or passes.

Yes, Pogba can be a bit of a liability in defense, but imo thats more than a good trade to actually get some ability on the ball through the centre middle of the pitch

Fred will literally cost him his job.

Ole's biggest flaw is in-game management and his inability to shape our midfield patterns or strategy.

At home, today, we were far too open and Dean did him tactically.

Despite the selfishness, he was the one closest to looking like scoring.

I’m “Ole In” and think the hysterical reaction as usual is well over the top. However- he needs to stop these streaks of bad form we go on and he also needs to find a way to mix it up considerably. We’ve become too predictable

At time I think, if they are happy spending millions to get into the CL, to then go out of the CL, to go into the EL, to then not win the EL to get into Pot 1 for the CL. You might as well save the money to spend on the stadium, so the fans can at least watch their football in comfort.

If Ole were managing a rival we’d all be laughing ourselves sick and praying that they keep him forever. We’d also be terrified of the day they appointed a top coach because of the squad Ole assembled.
Exactly my feeling last year about Chelsea and Lampard. I was laughing at them, but when they sacked him, I was sad, I knew they would get someone good in.

yea - i see the side and am also absolutely frustrated but think we should see how the season goes. if he cant deliver in the end it will be hard to keep him imo. but i think continuity is a big big plus many underrate. with a new manager everything starts again from the beginning. he will bring his players in and change the squad - i dont know why but the way chelsea does it dont function with us it seems

At Juventus he caused a proper fit because Juve didn't want to spend silly money on Cuadrado. His meltdowns on life TV would have made even the likes of Mourinho cringe.

He should go now. It is clear he is not the man. We need a proven coach.
Clearly! We just lost a football match and is only joint on the top of the table. Sack him now, before he can bring our top players up to speed after a COVID season end euro championship. Some of you lads are so melodramatic that your left wondering about sanity. How about just being critical of something and see how it goes this season?

We're in the same situation. Or Arteta with Arsenal. Ask yourself this, people, if we sack Ole now, which clubs would be in for him? And if City sack Pep or Liverpool Klopp, ask yourself the same question. This is all you need to know if Ole is the right man for the job. There is a reason why all of our rivals want to see Ole stay as long as possible. They can see the obvious better than we can.

There's no hysteria. He's in his 4th season and many of us who have had enough gave a long time for him to prove himself.
