I fully respect people who are clear about not being interested in this trophy or even the FA Cup but if Ole fails to win us the trophies they are interested in - the Premier League and Champions League - does he continue to keep his job or is there a time in which you say enough is enough?
I certainly believe there are better managers/coaches out there who could do better with this squad. So should we settle for Ole if he goes three years without winning a single trophy?
Obviously this season has a long way to go and there are still 3 trophies to challenge for but I'm interested in how long he will get a free pass...are fans honestly believing he will eventually start winning us trophies in the years to come?

Oh right. I dunno, it's just one of those things I suppose. On another day greenwoods chance goes in, or one of his cutbacks gets to martial etc.
I mean tbf, you'd have to expect those players to score at least one goal.

It's a good job we got some luck/fortune to win the West Ham and Wolves games or this start would be absolutely terrible. Performances have been just as bad this season as they were before we spent all this money. West Ham were garbage tonight and had a very weak team out... How we not only turned it into a competitive game but actually lost, is ridiculous.
Well you know they are, united are a squad/team not one man. This has become almost tribal like I saw with mourinho when I wasn't posting on here just reading. We all want what's best for this club I truly believe that.
But some believe in the manager others don't. You'll get snide piss taking back and forth forever between the two camps and the same things being labeled and countered, but all we want is to see united top of the pile again.
For me when resting players you should always have your biggest winners in the bench for an emergency.
Fergie always did it with Rooney and Ronaldo for instance. Remember loads of cup game we played the second string and would end up bringing them on.
Ole didn't leave enough on his bench for me.
Probably including charity shields and super cups.
I consider myself a very #OleIn supporter. I would change my stance if we don't challenge for the title in the PL this season. CL is a cup competition and I don't have any serious expectations for his employment based on those.
But with Sancho, Varane and Ronaldo brought in this summer, even without a new midfielder, I think we should challenge. Important note: those expectations are based on us not having any more serious injuries to any of our key players

I don't agree with that. Greenwood and Bruno should've been enough, but the former missed his main chance and the latter was going for 40 yard screamers and full pitch hollywood passes constantly.
If that’s the case then it’s a stupid, inaccurate stat to tweet about when we haven’t even participated in either of those games since Ole took charge? You have to win a trophy to play in either of those finals.

Maybe. But I just don't see the harm in having Ronnie in the bench. I said it before the game and it turned out to be a valid concern.
All I know if I'm a manager who desperately needs to win any trophy then I would be bring him in case of emergency.
Us getting knocked out early is much different to how Klopp usually does for instance.

In the league we scored 5 more goals than Liverpool and 15 more than Chelsea last year.
Also we've scored the most goals this season in the PL, so far.
It's further evidence if needed of how lacking we are in terms of being clinical with the few decent chances we do create.

The biggest problem the loss generates is that we have a lot of players looking for gametime and now quite a lot less games for them to play in. Probably not a big deal but for the likes of Cavani, Lingard and VDB that's a major source of starts cut-off early.

Losing becoming a small trend this early in the season is poor on his behalf. There's no excuses this season the manager needs to deliver. Poor result.
Bingo! Suddenly that’s up to 5 games less that we can field some of these guys to keep minutes ticking over.
It’s weird how the expectations have been brought down so much at United. We put out an 11 completely different from the starting 11 on Sunday with every player having cost us a good amount of money when we bought them. Yet we all look at City as the one to compete at all fronts while we shouldn’t bother too much about this . Makes no sense

The fanbase has become used to seeing us win nothing & city win at least 2 trophies a season.

To be honest it’s only first season that our squad depth can be even comparable with the one of City - and even now I’d say they’re still quite ahead of us.

The only reason we are slightly better right now than two years ago is that he has better players. He has done nothing to evolve or develop our style of play. It's bizarre that so many here can't see it.
Maybe we should drill the players on not whipping in crosses vs a low block without Ronaldo/Cavani in the side?
Not sure why there is so much glee in so many post from our fans in this thread. I personally, have never cared a lot for League Cup but it's a competition which is easier to win considering you need to play just 5 games to win it, and with the final being in February, it can be a massive shot in the arm for rest of the season. In midst of a barren run, we can't be turning up our noses at winnable competitions like League Cup.

Surely that has to be taken out of context? Otherwise it sounds like the players either aren’t playing how he wants them to play, or he just has a sudden epiphany. The latter would be kinda hilarious tbf.
When Bruno doesn't play we don't look one iota better as a team than the first 6 months of Ole's first full season.

It is september ffs. We had an easy start in the league and in the CL. Resting is important, but resting doesn't mean you exchange the whole team. Rotation it the key here.

I just found it mentionworthy, that for all the often called "unwanted" knee-jerk'ism there are seemingly so many who seem to like that stuff.
Manchester Uniteds main sources for creativity are Bruno, Poga and Shaw. Sancho has been bought to add to that list but so far he doesn't. To leave two out of this three players completely out of the squad is risky. To not play the other one from the start is also risky. We shouldn't be shocked about that performance but it could have been foreseen. It is september, why are Pogba and Shaw not even in the squad. I don't want them as starters but in case you really want to win this game you make sure you have your most influential players in the squad, if you want to rest them, fine, have them on the bench in case they needed.
Chelsea who won the Champions League too. I guess when youve won a cup it makes scraping by the odd round more excusable.
He is making him look a bit silly with those type of comments especially after the game. Either they are not listening to him and his coaching staff or else they have not much of a clue as how to defeat a low block team?
