What is this pretence that Klopp and Guardiola are some sort of protectors of football? Both were incredibly cagey in their responses, they were hardly outspoken. Klopp ranted about Neville as a way to sidestep the issue and Guardiola talking vague references about how football needs competition, well, there’s a bit of irony coming from a manager with his spend record :wenger:

I found Pep talking about greed while taking UAE backhanders hilarious personally.

He could have speculated and talked about the idea as such.

Anyway yes I do not think we should read too much into this regarding Oles opinion about it. Although his response feel similar to Tuchels that it is the owners making the call and he is just doing his job.

He was put on the stand before the news was even announced. Seems a bit unfair.

How many of you can go in front of the press and blast your employers?
You guys are hypocrites.

I have quit jobs for moral reasons.

I also came into a fight with a boss one time verbally and got fired for speaking my mind up about problems at the work. That was a part time job though and I had other jobs so it might have been easier for me.

The press would never care about me anyway since I am a nobody earning pretty low wage. Although I do not mind players or owners earning money. It is more the principle about what they are ready to do for it that scares me.
If they piss on us supporters for it I do not want to be a part of it since it is our money they take.

Ole is a nice guy though and great with people, but I think being too diplomatic with the Glaziers is only going to see the Glaziers win.

Yeah, Pep’s the biggest hypocrite of them all and yet some want to hold him up as a figure of football purity.

Yeah he is a huge hypocrite and we know that. The City owners are disgusting, but I mainly focus on the Glaziers since this is my club.

Would you say anything if you got put on the spot immidiately with something that you just heard about, and had none of the details on though?

You do understand that sometimes its better to take a minute to think about what's going on before you start shouting?

Ole was told something after the bloody teamsheet was handed in. He leads a full match and is immediately asked questions by the press after the game.

And you find it reasonable that he should have taken a public stand without even knowing fully what's even going on?

Basically you want Ole to speak out and lose his job because you want Ole out. But then another manager will come in and tow the line. Or they speak out and lose their job. Sounds like a great plan.

You mainly focus on Ole. For a manager you have always quite clearly held very little regard for, you seem to place a hell of a lot of importance on him as the sole defiant voice against the evil Glazers. Why don’t you go off to the Pogba thread, the Bruno thread, all the other individual player threads and call them a bunch of spineless cowards for not criticising the board at every opportunity? Maybe every incoming transfer we make should be attacked as eating out of the Glazer’s palms as well. They all quite happily take the Glazer’s money as well, quite a lot more of it in fact.

Would you say anything if you got put on the spot immidiately with something that you just heard about, and had none of the details on though?

Depend of course on how much I would know. A superleague have been talked about before.

It was not easy though for Ole since he probably did not want to upset anyone as well as being honest.

This is just more bashing the manager because of the owners instead of for anything wrong he might have done. We’ve had “supporters” blasting the manager for the football on offer for over 2 years now all while fully realising the owners hadn’t given him a strong enough squad to challenge and with poor players having to start for us until bruno arrived a year ago. people still laid into him as he made something better out of a mish mash of 3 different managers players and last summers failed transfer window backing him as he took the squad into the CL. Ole and the players have handled themselves with dignity since he came in but Ed has since left his job and people are still finding something they don’t like reading between the lines. That’s why we will never get the fan ownership model. Our “fans” can’t agree on the simple stuff for long enough to see anything through. Stop getting divided on stuff like this and think of the bigger picture.

The owners are the problem here not Ole or the players.

When the society has a justified unrest, a lot of innocent people get unjustified sticks , blame, and hurt. It’s a shame that Ole is one of them here and he is targeted by some of our own fan base!

There are many who have done it way more than Ole though. Even in this situation Pep did speak out against it and Klopp more than Ole did.

It is clear that Ole is Glaziers dream manager. It is so weird how everyone just defends him cause they like him and that is what Glaziers like. Someone that is not going to challenge them to change.
Did you watch the entire 8 min presser? Or just relying on those 2 statements?

If you listen to the entire thing, Pep went on to defend City's owners saying despite having been hit by the pandemic, they've not furloughed anyone. They, like UEFA, took a decision keeping themselves in mind. And after this went on a rant about how Lewandowski got injured in the international break.

What was Ole supposed to do? There was feck all information floating around, the journalist knew more about the situation than Ole. Klopp and Pep had time to prepare for the subject, Ole didn't.

feck employers. I dare PS18 to go on a swearing rant against Niall or any poster here for that matter. And let's then see what happens

So, about football. We’re looking pretty snug in second place, 8 points behind City, so the title isn’t happening. However, if you’d been given our position now at the start of the season, or maybe rather at the end of the transfer window, would you take it?

I sure as hell would. It’s an insurmountable lead most likely, with only 6 games remaining, but it isn’t 19 points. We’ve been the second best team this season, simple as. Ole will keep his job, not because he’s well liked and a have a cult following, but because he’s earned it. It must be tough for all our fans who took a stance, and kept standing, no matter the developments.

Ole lost me respect when he didn't comment on the Myanmar Coup and then the final straw was when he said nothing about the Derek Chauvin verdict. And the less said about the cost of petrol raising the better.

Cnut Ole OUT.

On live TV? Thats a terrible idea.

Are you seriously suggesting he should have started rambling about a topic he knew next to nothing about.

Lets see how much the Glazer's botch-up will cost the club. Our transfer budget may shrink with any fines or the other clubs may boycott buying players from United?

Yes. He is suggesting precisely that. Clearly, he has never done a presser before or being interviewed by the press.

Can't believe he just sat idly by, as the nazis marched into Norway. We should aim higher with our managers.

No I would not take it, but it is a decent league season for sure. Still I would like to win it so not take being second never.

In terms of Oles management we could complain about specific games and periods, but overall it is a fine job.

I’m just looking at the here and now buddy. I think I’m entitled to a little positive summation of the season, seeing as I’ve had to drudge through shit covered page after shit covered page of knee-jerk reactions, premature analysis and blatant name calling and childish digs at our manager. Feck all of it. I can’t wait to see where the goalpost lands next!

Your dreams are your prerogative, but any sane person with a modicum of football knowledge wouldn’t demand the title this season, with this squad and the competition at hand. I’d have liked a closer fight, but did I expect it? No chance.

We're a lot closer at this point than I thought we'd any right to be back in September.

We have one of the 4 best squads in the league and much better than the likes of Burnley and Newcastle. Should surely be able to fight for the title if we can beat the weaker sides and get decent enough results against City and Liverpool? It was a hard season post Covid, but it is the same for every club.
We also had some annoying injuries, but not insanly bad.

Exactly. Are people really giving Ole enough credit for having this group of players playing better than expected and actually over performing rather than trying to shoot him down for getting close but ultimately lacking a little bit of quality to get us over the line? That’s an owner issue. Ole is over performing with what he’s been given

One should think after all the crap Manchester United (owners and director) pulled now, that other things than blaming the manager was on peoples minds. Nobody have any idea what happened behind the curtains, but I am 110% sure Ole was against the SL and concentrated on talking with and helping the players, who naturally was afraid of the consequences for them and the game.

Which is exactly what he should be doing. His job. He wasn't spoken to or asked his opinions before the ESL was formed, nor were the players. His job is to get the player performing and winning games, which he is doing well at.

The owners made the call not Ole. Ole's job is exactly what I said, and that is to make the players perform on the pitch.

Put it this way if he didn't do his job and he was too focused on the ESL, you'd be b*tching and moaning that Ole can't even manage the team on the field and he should be sacked.

He cannot win!

I find it very hard to believe there will be any fines. Threatening to leave, and actually leaving are too completely different things.

As far as I'm concerned, it's a disgrace. Like a friend of mine said "Some people truly think it's like a movie"

Well, yeah, that’s reading between the lines. Three different results for us and we’re in a dogfight for the title, four and we may well be leading. I’m not celebrating second here, I’m advocating something I asked for at the start of the season, reserve judgement until the evidence is presented. Looks pretty darn good to me, not perfect, that’d be the title.

For sure. After the transfer window I thought it’d be a race for 3./4. We’ve had ups and downs like the rest of football, but to me we don’t seem soft anymore, and we don’t seem to fall apart like a house of cards after a bad result. We’ve even managed a few good runs. It’s looking up for us these days I’d say.

Yeah we can still win it so we are fighting for the title. Just annoying we had games like Sheffield and West Brom which should have been 6 points and would have had us challenge for sure.

Really hope City can drop some point tonight and that we do beat our rivals Leeds and Liverpool next.

Not true, us and City especially had it worse than anyone else, hence why are start was so poor.

We deserve credit for recovering I think after the horrific start we have lost 1 game all season. We’re a good side! City are better right now but if we have a good summer we can win it.
