He isn't a top coach no matter how many laughing smileys people give me for saying that. Showed it very clearly today, with his lineup, with his tactics, with his subs. Just awful from start to finish. He has been riding his luck, and today it backfired. We will bounce back, but we will never win anything of notice with Ole. Home record: 4-2-4. Goal difference: 13-15. Go figure.

Frank lampard got sacked for less in my opinion. Lampard got chelsea to an fa cup final and to the latter rounds of the champions league. Ole has done nothing but scrap top 4 and somehow we are all ok with this.
No fecking way is this a serious post.

Genuine question. Did any of the Ole Outers genuinely change their mind over the last 6 weeks?

I've said it time and time again in group chats I'm in over the last 6 weeks or so I still don't believe Ole is good enough, but I have loved winning so much. Love to share screenshots if anyone thinks I'm lying

He's taken us on a phenomenal run as of late, but he does nothing to change the course of a game (like tonight) and is always sat down instead of on the touchline coaching.

I'd love to be proven wrong but I really don't see Ole bringing the title back to us. I'm screaming at him to change something all game long.

MMM doesn't work. Especially against deep defence. He must understand that already.
Also, rotation is needed but gk and central defenders you don't rotate in important games. Never. If Lindelof was fit, he should have played

In the end it is league performance that counts. We are still doing well results wise, while they are not. If we drop in the same fashion as they did I'm sure it will all look very different.

Win, draw or lose he's never good enough. It's that simple. Our competition is being coached by the Peps and Klopps of this world, why would anyone think Ole would win a title against them?

We've literally been the best team in the league over the last 38 league matches (today's loss may have changed that). Saying he's done worse than Lampard and done nothing but scrape top 4 is obviously over-the-top.

, arrogant? He played a team of full internationals bar Tuanzebe and Greenwood, against bottom of the league. Fully on the players this one.
Maybe a bit strong word to use for sure. But Pogba-Matic double pivot always lacks energy in these games and using the fourth CB for an important game is a bit casual. We aren’t City, we don’t win these games with ease, so let’s not act like it.

The lack of familiarity in our play and a clear strategy is still a major issue under Ole.

Our starting line-up was fine. Ole has done very well rotating our players over the last couple of months and the team he put out should have been good enough to get the result.

The substitutions were disgraceful though. It was incredibly obvious that we needed urgency, drive and the ability to push the team forward. Two of Cavani, Fred and Shaw should have been on at halftime, and it was so obvious that it was what we needed that I was stunned we came out with the same line-up. To then wait until the 65th just to bring one of them on, then wait until after the 80th minute to make the last two changes (bringing VDB on instead of Fred at this point was understandable) was ridiculous. That was a huge mistake from Ole today, and it was so obvious I don't understand why.
I agree with this

Unfortunately this isnt a one off and oles subs are often terrible and incredibly late. We were crying out for some proactive subs agaonst Fulham as well and only clung on by the skin of our teeth

Cavani can't start every match and this one was the obvious match to rest him. Waiting until so late to bring him on was the issue today, not having him on the bench to start with.

He didn't need a rest, he's played just 3 90 minute matches this month, but yes I do agree Ole taking so long to bring him on was also a BIG issue.

He blew it today unfortunately.

Can't help but think if we had Pep today, we would have blown that lot away.

We just get off to way too many slow starts. It's impossible to claw back every single time. We need to get off to better starts.

He needs to work on his subs management because it's awful. Subbing off Greenwood and letting Martial finishes the game was a terrible mistake. I'm not saying it costed us the game but still.

The main problem is it seems Ole trusts the main team, way, way more than he trusts the bench. Can't think of other reasons for the late subs thing. He's putting his full trust in several players and feels any other won't bring him the win, which is a wrong mindset if it's true.

Bad day at the office. Too many changes in important positions and still that lack of familiarity in our plays.

Plus, what does he expect VDB and Shaw to do with 8 minutes left?

This squad needs to be improved to beat the likes of Sheffield??
Obviously not. I think the squad needs to be improved if we want to realistically challenge for the title. Even the best teams will drop points against these sort of teams every once in a while, that is not the main issue. We haven't looked very convincing over the entire season, that's a big problem.

Nonsense, we were set up poorly from a tactical stand point, and Wilder knew it.

Not reacting to that until 82 minutes put it firmly
on the management.
I don't really see how we set up poorly, we've played some of our better games set up like this. Again, against a team bottom of the league, it was a more than capable selection.

Wilder just dumped men behind the ball, our top two goalscorers last year did absolutely feck all and our main creative player had a stinker. Yes, the subs were too late, but overall, no one performed even close to a standard that's acceptable.

Basically this. He will get top 4 though, which will be enough to keep him in the job and we will waste another season.

He's got to go now surely? Enough is enough. Is Neil Lennon available?

We've literally been the best team in the league over the last 38 league matches (today's loss may have changed that). Saying he's done worse than Lampard and done nothing but scrape top 4 is obviously over-the-top.
Do you genuinely believe this?

Martial just doesnt work as part of any setup

He should be out of the team for a prolonged period regardless of who has to come in. His attitude is a terrible example to the rest ans should be punished

Tactics were equally shit tbh. Always go wide and cross. We had no other tactics despite having Mata, VDB who will excel at pass and move.
I don't think Ole wanted us to just cross, I think there was an expectation that Bruno would be more creative than he was and that Rashford Martial would take on players more than they did. That's why I think the players let him down.

It's the fact he fecks it up from a position of strength that gets my goat. Honestly I didn't have much against this starting line up but I thought bringing in Telles and Axel was not good. Simply because Bailly could have played.

My biggest issue was his game management. Even a blind man can see that it was not working with Rashford and Martial. He needed to change his tactics. When we are losing then you throw everything. That is the Manchester United way. I don't mind losing by three one if he had tried to win the game. All can see that we needed to move the ball quicker and we can't play to feet. This was a huge lost opportunity.

Shouldve made subs earlier and shouldve hauled Martial off at half. But the selection wasn't the issue nor should Ole be the focus after every result anymore. We've been good this season, he's our manager, we're scoring plenty and getting results so it shouldn't be a question mark unless we really collapse. He'll be here to stay for a bit.

He started Telles who only really offers crosses, doesn't offer penetrating runs like Shaw does nearly as much. We then went with Martial as our starting striker who is hardly known for his movement or heading ability. We randomly gave Tuanzebe a game. It was arrogance and complacent.

This is exactly why I am Oleout. How can he not sub Martial or Rashford is beyond me. We could of played for a week and not scored. What angers me the most is his passive management style from the bench. He will never go to the touch line and shout at his players to get a move on. The defending for the last goal was abysmal. Especially Martial, Scholes was right he will never be good enough. He’s had his chance now, sell him and get someone who is actually bothered about wearing the shirt.

has Pogba had a different midfield partner all season, its like Ole is just gambling until it goes wrong, Matic and Pogba? no!!!!! he needs someone mobile who can get him some room to get his head up

Basically this. He will get top 4 though, which will be enough to keep him in the job and we will waste another season.
I'm having doubts about that. Lose to Arsenal and we could easily drop out of top 4 if the rest of the bunch wins their remaining matches :annoyed:

He’s luck was bound to run out at some point, he has won many games this season while playing this bad.
Agree, something like this was coming. Look at our recent results...

Inched past Liverpool.
Scraped past Fulham.
Bore draw against Liverpool.
Scraped past Burnley.
Limped past Watford.
Toyed with by City.
Scraped past Villa.
Fluke win against Wolves.
Drew against Leicester.
Scraped past Everton.

Our last convincing performance was the 20th of December against Leeds.

Not because of the squad, which is a very good one with a lot of depth plus we’ve had no injuries compared to other teams.

Genuine question. Did any of the Ole Outers genuinely change their mind over the last 6 weeks?

Gone from fervent out to “well let’s see how it plays out” but wouldn’t say I’ve ever swung to in, always thought the apology thread was/is asking for ridicule.

Think players have let him down tonight, but the in-game subs situation has been one big joke for ages now. I’ve never seen someone so scared to try and take hold of the game, winning or losing.

Still think we rely on Bruno far too much, look how the threads turn on him after a bad performance. Admittedly he is frustrating, and has blown hot & cold a lot more recently, but has dragged this team out of the shit for the last year.

I don't think that this was because team selection. Sure, he maybe rested too many players today but still this lineup should beat SU easily. It was match preparation. We played like 3 points are done deal. And for that i blame whole team. Manager who didn't motivate them and players who went in game "so Arsenal is next?".

We beat them with pretty much the same team at their place. Ok maybe Tuanzebe, but he needs matches and he's not as shite as he showed today usually. We usually praise him for giving opportunities to young players.
He started Telles who only really offers crosses, doesn't offer penetrating runs like Shaw does nearly as much. We then went with Martial as our starting striker who is hardly known for his movement or heading ability. We randomly gave Tuanzebe a game. It was arrogance and complacent.
Pretty much what I said above.

I'm not sure what some fans expect of Ole. He is not an elite level manager, never will be. After 2 yrs he has reached and shown his ceiling...its like expecting Fred to turn into Fernandez! Our owners are also content with his level despite their protestations that they 'want to make Itd a title winning side again'. Cause and effect folks, you cannot escape that paradigm.

At the end of the season, regardless of our position (except if by a miracle we win the league or at least fight to the last weeks) we should thank him for his service and end his contract. He did a good job in building the foundation of a good team, but he is a mediocre/novice tactician.

Yes, the subs were too late, but overall, no one performed even close to a standard that's acceptable.

So no one performed even close to an acceptable standard, yet the manager made no significant change until the 82nd minute, and you think it’s on the players???

What is a managers job if it’s not to spot that it’s not working and change it @Lash??
He might as well just name the team and fecking stay at home.
