On another note, I can't remove the grin on my face since the game.. just the thought fills up with warm giddy feeling  Can't wait for the next champions league match now. Done with the last year's CL finalist, now onto the CL semifinalist. We have a great chance to top the group now.

Like I said last night, I bet many clubs have sit up and noticed Ole after this performance. Just needs to win some trophies now!

I think Ole has surprised me a lot since his appointment as caretaker manager. I thought he was a very very average manager, who will struggle against big sides, and get outsmarted against oppositions all the time.

But Ole has proved to be a very astute manager. Within almost two years now, he has completely changed the ethos and look of the team. We have a clear identity on the pitch(win ball back quickly and play direct fast paced football on the ground, with a fluid attack). He has shown his tactical prowess time and time against smart coaches, managed egos and players well, and is making astute signings.

Credit also has to be given to Carrick/Mkenna and Phelan, they have done a good job. I think they can do better though. I will give Ole till the end of the season, and re-evaluate again. He has earned that trust. He is no mid table manager, maybe his ethos matches with the club, but he surely has been the best manager for Utd since SAF.

I love that he clearly just went screw this, PSG ain’t all that, and changed the entire shape and proceeded to be the better side (I mean I am sure that was probably the plan pre match but let me have this).

I see what you and @Tarrou are doing. Pushing the whole ‘positive threads’ mantra.
Like I said, the fact mods are closing them tells you all you need to know. And that goes for the threads made the other way too.

I'm just pointing out it's normal behaviour for a supporter to support the team

after bemoaning the cultists you sound a bit cultist now

"positive threads mantra" ffs

Well done to Ole last night, prepared for the game very well, and got the change in formation spot-on. They were there for the taking and the game was there to be won.

Funny to see people like Castles trying to force a negative spin on this.

FIVE at the back, low block worked well last night against a PSG on the front foot

we are a counter attacking team

We won because we changed shape, brought Pogba on and took control of midfield. Strange comment. It was sensible to start conservatively and then go for it once we'd weathered the storm.

Also there's nothing wrong with counter attacking. Are you old enough to have seen Sir Alex set up to play Arsenal? You must hate the numerous counter attacking goals we scored under Fergie.

As an aside, Miguel Delaney's tweets on Solskjaer exactly what I expected to see this morning. I wonder if he sees the similarities between himself and Castles? It's a bit weird to see journalists so openly campaigning for their favourites. Castles for Jose, Delaney for Pochettino.

United were the better side set up with 5 at the back ( Setting up more defensively against a team that played in the CL final 58 days previous is sensibleto me ) , when PSG started to get a grip of the game and get themselves back into it Ole changed it and we were the better side again . Well done Ole great game management .

Just two weeks ago there were so many calling for his head. Our performances were shite and he got many bad tactical and line up decisions. But he has proved he knows how to change, adapt and turn the table. We've bounced back pretty nicely from that Spurs humiliation.

So happy for him, Ole all the way

What has that muppet said now?

- How is pointing the obvious strange?
This team plays better with a deep defensive line playing on the break. We struggle when we play against teams who high press (get in our faces) or sit back and park the bus

- Where did i say counter attacking was 'wrong'

- I bet im older than you.... Witnessed live and loved many counter attacking goals from the likes of Sharpe, Kanchelskis, Giggs, Ronaldo, park, Rooney etc down the years

- Twitter is full of morons

Nah it isn’t normal behaviour to see United win and the first thing you do is run on the cafe to make antagonising knee jerk I told you so threads. That is the opposite of normal behaviour. Just encourages this incessant tit for tat method of posting.

Ole and his team was tactically absolutely spot on. A 3412 formation made us look like a well organized team with a good game plan. I can’t give him enough credit for this. 10/10.

From my perspective Tuanzebe and Shaw was the key that we looked so solid defensively. Their acceleration and speed made us less vulnerable against vertical deep passes and AWB and Telles covered our flanks with excellence.

There are still question marks how to effectively use Pogba. He’s not effective enough in a two man midfield. It was obvious that he’s more suited to a diamond formation where we can get the best out of all of our creative players.

All in all this result gives Ole breathing space and time to best figure out how to move forward with Pogba.

how many times has that happened though?

surely its mostly just people happy with one of our best results in years

Magnificent tactical showing. Well done to all. Let's show this spirit for remaining of the season and we will be up there with the best, and win trophies.

Wow, just checked his twitter feed. That man is miserable as feck. We've got a great goal keeper, who'se only just coming back in form - and we made him the beast that he was/is trying to be again. A right back who's great at tackles. That's Ole's luck.

But Tuchel's not lucky that he's got 300 million pounds worth of attacking talent in Mbappe and Neymar. What sort of cognitive blind spot has that man got?

We played far better than them and deserved the win. If anything PSG's shots were down to individual brilliance more than our own. Ours came from periods of domination.

Michael Cox of Zonal Marking is another one who never misses a chance to talk Ole down. I really don't understand what Ole's done to make so many journalists hate him so much.

People really should stop giving Castles attention in general.

We have not really struggled against a low block since we signed Bruno. Since January, I believe we've lost 4 times, drawn 6 times and won the rest. Admittedly our defenders are not that press resistant and have a tendency to get caught on the ball. However, by and large, our worst performances have come when the team was visibly exhausted or undercooked.

Your comment was strange to me because you seemed to attribute our success last night with going five at the back. However, we won the game because Ole changed the formation and went for the kill with the Pogba substitution. Also, neither of our goals were the result of counter attacks. In fact we wasted our best opportunities to counter by trying to walk the ball into the net when the player on the ball should've laced it.

If you say you like counter attacking football, ok, it didn't come across like that but I'll leave it at that.

We beat Newcastle 4-1 the team who sits deep.

And We beat PSG 2-1 the top team.

We switched the formation to 4 at the back with 442 diamond when Pogba came on. Ole had tactically spot on against PSG 10/10 imo. Start the game with 352 to bring more stability in the game, the score still 1-1 so he brought on Pogba and switched into much more attacking system because we want to win and he was spot on with his approach from the start to the end, including the subs he brought on, the line up, the game plan, the switch game plan in 60th min.

We are flexible team with flexible manager. Counter, press & direct. If you want possession or total football we can hire LVG but I don’t think you want that to happen again surely.

The Pogba sub was prepared. You love to hear it!

I was coming to post on the same lines.

As good a coaching/substitution masterclass as any. Going for it by putting Pogba on and changing our approach to a more attacking one. Exceptional performance by Ole. Even as someone who isn't convinced by his coaching that yesterday was huge huge huge from Ole.

Why do people keep saying we played in a low block? I remember several times we played a very high line in the first half to get PSG trapped offside and we pressed pretty high from the very first minute. Yes once PSG got around the press we got back and got compact, but then we sprung forwards pretty quick and were always looking to get the line up the pitch quick.

It's almost as if people are seeing with their preconceived notions and the final stats sheet.

You might think that we were constantly under the kosh and playing in a low block parking the bus when you see that they had 61% of the ball, but we really were not bar 10 minutes in either half. Most of their possession came in their own half trying to build up and then losing it in our midfield. Add to that we had the better of the chances overall too. For every Neymar strike from distance there was a Rashford and Bruno effort. Both Mbappe and Martial had a similar mazy run down the left except Martial's shot was off target while Mbappe's was saved by De Gea. But PSG hardly got a clean shot at goal and all of their chances were half chances whereas we had a few very good chances that were 2 v 1 in their box. Both Bruno and Rashford messed one up. Hell dad Rashford been properly on it we could have won by 3

I think tactically we had the beating of them all night. It was for the most part a pretty end to end game - PSG trying to build up and us counter pressing (not all counter attacks have to be from deep y'know).

Another point to consider: Neither of our goals were from counter attacks for feck's sake. Both came while we firmly had possession in their half and were on the front foot.

Wonderful trip down memory lane.
Easy to forget Ole was able to score every type of goal, had an amazing first touch and his positional play was telepathic.
Also amazing how he was able to adapt and thrive in so many different teams and systems and with different strike partners.

Our strikers are SO lucky to have this goal machine as their manager!!

The Spurs game made me knee-jerk to Ole out for the first time (obviously back in now), but I completely agree with you. Mourinho had 0 long-term thinking. Ole is restructuring the entire club from top to bottom in regards to play style and culture. Even if he doesn’t ultimately succeed (winning titles, CL’s etc), the next manager will have a far easier job because of him. If he fails as manager, I’d give Ole the DOF role. The man knows football.

I just don't get it. Really good performance, with good tactics (possibly the most encouraging game from a coaching and selection POV that Ole has had), and then follows it up by a dumb team selection, playing 2 players who are blatantly not good enough for these games.

Hope he doesn't hesitate to make subs today, because we'll need them without a doubt.

Why does he have a favouritism of a 4231 and starting players like James.

Just when i feel happy & confident that he is going to change - we go back to the standard unnecessary shit.

You got to be an absolute moron to start Dan James.
Otherwise dont have too many complaints. It was always going to be a difficult game. Both teams played not to lose.

I really felt like he should have ended the game with the the diamond again and pushed up, maybe we lose if we do that but whatever

To be honest I get why he started James. He probably assumed Chelsea would leave gaps. What I don’t get was the incredible lack of intensity and purpose through the entire game. How do you go from Tuesday night to this? We weren’t playing against a great side today. Should have been far more put into trying to win that game.

15th in the league after 5 games is very concerning especially with a defensive Arsenal to come and then Everton. Much improvement needed.

7 points in 5 games. But we're doing bras and he's making big progress apparently

He’s a total bottle job. Setting up so negatively at home so early in the season is a disgrace. Showed little attaching intent and how the hell Dan James starts is just beyond a joke.
Wank manager.

No words to explain that team selection.
Even when he stumbles upon a blueprint he reverts back to his shit tactics.
Oh well at least we didnt lose.
