i'd forgotten about Kilvert's Pure Lard and the Central League

I remember the press release and throwing a strop that we'd even created Fred. The club made a big hoo haaa over it, and then at the end of the game during the trophy celebrations Eric lead the team on a charge and jumped Fred, and took his head off.

This mascot thing seems very much earlier than 94, but it's certainly a football match and a United shirt, so can anyone try and pinpoint a date as to this as I can't recall us having anything like this in the 80's.

That pic must be from 91/92 at the latest - the mascot's wearing the Adidas kit.

United used to give out tickets for Central League games for free to local schools. As I remember, they didn't open the Stretford End for home games and we could sit in the stands if we wanted to. Saw David Herd make his comeback in a CL match after he broke his leg.

Chips fried in Kilvert's Lard and served with a couple of runny eggs and bread and butter. Always had that on a Monday.
 
I remember sitting in the "posh seats" for reserve matches in the 80s - A and B stand as was. Think I remember season ticket holders getting the central league games for free.
 
Can anybody confirm something for me...

With the old letters for stands, am I right in thinking L was the highest letter, in the SE quad, and then it started with A at the East end of the South stand, going round clockwise from there? And the whole of the Stretty was the E stand?
