Ok the topic title may look a bit too harsh but its also a fact that In my opinion SAF shouldnt replace an on form J OShea with Maine Road Hero G Neville

What do you think?

I agree. Gary Neville must now be behind O'Shea and Brown when it somes to the defense.

The guy is a liability.

Muppet Man Shut Up.

I have always said that Phil and Gary Neville should concentrate on the olde Panto season and give the football up during the Pagan Christmas Period.

It would be best for all concerned.

Sadly, he is better than Phillice, the younger and less talented brother. But if we are at full strength I would go with

O'Shea Rio Brown Silvestre.

now i got slagged off for my little joke on the brothers-even got called a scouse bastard my city mate told it to me after the derby (blue bastard). saw gaz and phil in toys r us in stockport they were giving away games - i thought it was funny

Considering the responses to this thread, could Gary be one of the nucleus who's going? I know that its a long time since I've seen Sir Alex so angry at a player as he was of Gary against city.

Probable.
But Blanc might be back too, so it could be O'Shea, Brown, Blanc and Silvestre.

Muppet is one of my favorite words, if not the favorite.

PS. MUPPETS

I agree and if Blanc and Gary both are fit that's the back four I'd play. If only Gary's fit I'd consider playing him at CB.

'kinhell, a player that has just come out of a long injury spell has a bad game and people want him chucked out of the door. FFS, I know he's made a few glaring mistakes in the past, but hasn't everyone, they are few and far between in Gary's case.

He's always been Mr reliable, works with Beckham along the wing in a way I've only ever seen Irwin do as effectively, and he is a very passionate and vocal member of our defence. Give the man a break, he's the best rightback that we have got.

Thank f**k for that, nice one mate.

Notwithstanding the error at City which admittedly was horrendous, Gary has been playing the best football of his career since coming back this season. He doesn't deserve the appellation indicated by the title of this thread.

what a disrespectful thread!
The man didnt get capped over 50 times for his country by accident!
If Gary Neville was put on the transfer list you can be damn sure the likes of Wenger would be sniffing around.
He's Englands best rightback FFS!
He made one bad mistake in a match riddled by mistakes by everyone and youse want to hang him from the nearest tree!
Are youse the same fans who called for Beckham to hang after 98 cos youse 'kin sound like it!

FFS! I'm not one to come out to defend players regardless but you are being fecking ridiculous!

If there's anyone whose commitment cannot be called into question that has to be Gary.

He fecked up, everyone fecks up at some point. But that's about it. I think he has been sufficiently punished for it.

I actually feel it was a bit over the top to single him out. I can't help but feel he was the weakest link in the bunch of those who deserved a kick up the arse.

Don't use him as a scapegoat we were collectively awful in that game.

COME ON GARY!

From Manutd.com:
Manchester United have been given a boost ahead of the trip to Anfield with the news that Gary Neville will be fit to face Liverpool on Sunday.

The Reds defender has missed the Reds' last two games with a thigh injury, but Carlos Queiroz revealed on Friday that he'll make the trip west on Sunday morning.

"Gary is fit," Carlos told ManUtd.com on Friday afternoon.

"Laurent Blanc is a doubt, however. We will have to wait and see when he has a fitness test on Saturday."

John O'Shea and Wes Brown could continue as the central defensive partnership if Blanc misses out, unless the manager decides to switch Gary or Mikael Silvestre into the middle.

He just 'fecked' up in the BIGGEST game of all!
He has to live with it like the rest of us.......only he doesn't 'work' or 'live' with any Man City fans!

I'm sure he got much more stick from Alex than you've had from City fans.

Sorry lads, never liked the brothers. Except for a handful of fleeting heroics I'd rather put O'Shea and Brown in there.

How many times have you seen Brown or O'Shea play there for the first team?

Sven was thinking of playing Wes at right back in the World Cup but had Danny Mills ahead of him. Wes is certainly a good right back, he was fantastic there when he first came into the side as he has pace in abundance, I think it would be exciting to add some pace down the right flank as Beckham and Gary aren't fast.

if they dont play Gary at RB then id like them to play O'Shea there. Wes has been good at CB the last few times, plus IMO OShea is better on the ball so would be better employed at RB.
besides that, last season when Wes was played at RB i didnt think he was particularly convincing. His crossing and passing left a lot to be desired.

If Blanc doesnt make the Liverpool match id play OShea/Brown at CB and Gary at RB. Gary needs to be in there as hes a talker and an organiser. The other 2 arent.

But how many times has he played there for the first team? We need experience in this match.
