Official : Carlo Ancelotti sacked by Real Madrid

If he was allowed to bring the players in that he wanted I'm sure they could have done a lot better but Perez thinks too much about marketing the club rather than what's best for results.

Ancelotti doesn't help himself either though as his teams have a history of blowing leads and he got away with it last year against Atletico but luck didn't strike twice this season.

2 points behind in the league, CL semi after winning it the year before, sacked? The man should be flogged in town centre, unacceptably shit results.

White, really....

To be honest Ancelotti is lucky he made it to his second season, Jupp Heynckes only won a champions league in his first season too and he got sacked.

If Ancelotti isn't an elite manager then neither are the likes of Wenger, LVG and quite a few others.

In fact Guardiola and Mourinho are the only two managers who would be a definite upgrade on Carlo.

Ancelotti hasn't either for the most part.

He went 0/2 with this Madrid side. Took over a first place side from Kombouare and managed to finish behind tiny Montpellier in 2012. 1/8 with Milan, including some 4th and 5th place finishes. Managed just 71 points with Chelsea in his second season. 0/2 with Juve.

Why would a top level coach want to go there any more? It's a circus.

At Real Madrid Carlo Ancelotti had a higher win percentage than Mourinho, I'm not saying he is a better manager but pointing out he might be more suited to the circus than Jose.

Why would our goalie go there?

Silly decision. Feel sorry for Carlo. Last season he achieved in his first season what many managers tried doing in a few more and was unlucky to finish 2nd in La Liga by only 2 points against a team with the best strike partnership and best player in the world, best striker in the world and best young player in the world

He didn't even finish 2nd last year.

My question is: do even the worst Madrid fans want their managers sacked once every year or two? What do they really hope to achieve doing that? They will soon run out of managers to sack if they already haven't!

The most recent survey of club members said that over 70% wanted him to stay. Perez is just looking for some scapegoats in anticipation of another Barca treble.

Because it's his home and his family are there, unfortunately.

I can still see why a player would want to go there (although they shouldn't expect any loyalty returned from the club if they don't perform), but it seems like a less and less attractive prospect for a manager after each sacking.

Elite is the wrong word to use. Great would be better Ancelotti isn't one of the greats of management and either is Wenger(Van Gaal clearly is though)

If they're looking at a short term move then Madrid is as good as any. Potential success at the highest level, working with some of the best players around, living in a beautiful city and with very little risk attached. There are very few managers who have left Madrid with worse reputations than when they first went in. Ancelotti's sacking doesn't reflect badly on him at all and he's just added another Champions League to his CV. Probably gets a nice payday too.

I think there's a misconception that most managers want long-term stability at big clubs. The majority of European managers don't crave that at all. Guardiola has said in the past that a 4 year cycle is what he aims for, for example.

So what we can deduce from Eboue's ramblings is that Wenger is in fact not an elite manager.

Their club is run by idiots not to mention their fans, who probably backed the sacking.

If finishing 2nd by 2 points and making it to the CL semis is considered worthy of a sacking them I pray to god some day they have a season like our 2013/14 one. The whole club would probably disband or the stadium burnt to the ground by their own fans.

That's City's next manager then.

Thank god I'm not a Real Madrid fan. Bloody idiots with no sense of respect and appreciation. He won them the 10th European cup and this is what he gets?

Barcelona and Real Madrid couldn't be any more different than each other. Their fans are class, they respect their players and their manager. On the other hand Real Madrid achieve much less and treat everyone like shit. Sir Alex once said he wouldn't even sell them a virus.

"I reiterate that I will take a year off and I have a serious reason to stop," says Ancelotti.

"I must have a back operation because of a (cervical spinal) stenosis that for some time creates a tingle in my hands.

"If I waste more time it could extend to my legs and this is why I have made an appointment to have the surgery done. I don't know how long the period of recovery will be.

"I will have the operation in Vancouver where I have a house with my wife.

"Two years at Real have been very tiring and believe me, very challenging. No one can imagine the toll it takes physically and mentally to coach Real."

Ancelotti has confirmed that he has already received offers from top clubs around Europe, with his spell at Real Madrid confirming his credentials as a trophy winner of the highest calibre, even though he failed to win the La Liga title with the Spanish giants.

"I can assure you that I've had plenty of offers from Italy, England, Germany," added the 55-year-old. "I'm sure they will not be lacking from here until next year."
