I doubt the plan is to renew DDG for multiple seasons on his current salary. If that's something actually being discussed among the top decision makers at the club then it doesn't matter who the manager is, nobody will ever overcome the stupidity of the club executives.
This is why I think it's such a monumental decision - almost like a crossroads-style moment for the club.
Are we going to demonstrate that the new SMT have learnt something from past failures and are not afraid to move-on popular players at the right time?
Or, will we take the Woodward and Judge approach of treating players like an accountant would treat 'assets' and constantly renew the contracts of players who aren't required and have little to no 'real' monetary value.
