Diogo Costa at Porto would be a better signing and long term investment for United, he's arguably the most impressive goalkeeper in Liga Portugal right now and also hugely decorated at youth level. Superior ball control and distribution vis-à-vis Vlachodimos, agile and regularly makes implausible reflex saves, high involvement in defensive actions outside his area, 5 years younger and will only get better with experience as his decision-making and game-management improve. Not many top clubs need a goalkeeper right now: Madrid has Courtois, City has Ederson, Liverpool has Alisson, Barcelona has ter Stegen, Chelsea has Mendy, Paris Saint-Germain has Donnarumma, et cetera — so United could get a relatively clean shot with the activation of his €60 million release clause. Very likely to be Portugal's first-choice goalkeeper for the foreseeable future as well, for what it's worth (as he has already surpassed Rui Patrício and José Sá).
