Quarantine period + travel ban from China + worsening virus situation: he could be available to play from around late March/early April onwards.

I really don't understand this potential signing.

We’re desperate for a Striker, if Martial is out for any length of time we’re well and truly fecked! Can’t put all that pressure on a 18yr old Greenwood. Ighalo isn’t my 1st, 2nd or even 3rd choice but think he can do a job until the end of the season and that’s all it is a reinforcement for 6 months there’s no obligation to buy at the end of it, at least from what’s being currently said.

I can not believe the negativity in here to a risk free deal.

what did you expect?!

I hope those who are defending this signing will stay firm on their stance few months later in his own performance thread.
We're defending it on the basis that the alternative is a) nothing or b) paying 30-40m for some player thats not good enough, but will end up here for 5years.

Not if he's shite, people moan about Lingard but you think a trash striker from a bin league is going to be better? It's insane, at least the likes of King and Piatek play in proper leagues.
But he's not shite. He's played in the PL and was decent. Piatek struggled for game time at AC Milan and they sold him within a year of signing him at a loss. He got 6 goals in 24 games. Ighalo had a better than 1 in 3 goals to game ratio in the PL and was top scorer at the African Cup of Nations - youu
know, that tournament with Salah, Zaha, Mahrez etc. in it?

You’re right, both us and Dortmund were mugs for going after that Norwegian and Austrian league show pony.

Desperation signings are awful to make.

And we had all month essentially. Is Ighalo really the best option we could find?

He never played in the second division, changed clubs when Changchun were relegated.

We need a striker, Rashford's injury has forced a desperate need for a striker.

It's not ideal but I like that we brought someone in.

We need striker since we lost Lukaku and this is what we can do? This must be new low right?

Sorry about my second division statement, transfermartk lied to me and I lied to you because of that. :-)

Watched him live at Watford numerous times and if he shows anything of his former self here he could be awesome. Get ready for the Iggy Scoop.

I rather take this than fecking King for 27mil. on long term contract, specially when he is already injured and coming to us.

So what is pro of this potential deal : He is on loan, which buys us time to make a plan and list for strikers (if you run proper football club, then again, proper club wouldnt be in this situation on the first place) till summer for better option on permanent deal. Maybe paying 1/3 of his wage is to much but fook it, what else we can do now.

My only issue is that they waited for deadline day for this shit, same goes for Bruno by wasting 3 weeks for feck all, never mind the feck, everyone said at summer that we are thin and asked where are replacements for Lukaku and midfielders we lost.

You’re right, both us and Dortmund were mugs for going after that Norwegian and Austrian league show pony.

Not the same though.

Haland is young and progressing.

Ighalo is 30 and likely 'peaked' as a footballer.

Primarily we were looking to sign a player on loan, which indicates this would be a stop game signing, so not, it's it a valid comparison.
Each of those players were also signed on loan for Arsenal.

What a stupid thing to say

A- no one expects him to be starting games
B- no one is even expecting him to be that good

That being said it's an emergency signing in the event an emergency happens which we're a Martial 'injury' away from happening

Luckily there's a two week winter break coming up but go continue with your shit.

Haaland played in a team that plays in Europe and competed with Liverpool at Anfield, don't be dense, it's not the same as a 30 year old who has been wasting away in trash bin league for 3 years.

That was years ago, you don't get better playing in a trash league like he has done for 3 years, and scoring for his country doesn't mean much. The PL is a monster and it eats up players that have been in slacker leagues, it even makes it hard for actual quality players from good leagues, Higuain for instance is twice the striker this guy is and he struggled here.

Good for you kid, I'll be sure to flip that when the kool aid chokes you.

I honestly don't get people like you. A decision has been made, try to get behind it instead of slating him before he's kicked a ball. He proved himself in PL already, for a newly promoted team void of creative support. Now he's got fecking Bruno behind him.

I'd take him at this stage. Shame about cavani. Would prefer him on 6 month deal. But I'd take almost anyone at this stage. We need a striker as an option

Saving this for when he's on the bench in 2 weeks time

If we haven't committed to anything beyond a loan then there isn't any real downside. "Better than nothing" is a low standard but it's one this deal definitely meets.

Of course the fact that we're at this point is yet more evidence of how badly we screwed the summer transfer window but hey, we all know that already.

I'm not as against this as I should be really. He is coming in to sit on the bench as an option for when we play the crap teams and need another option. Personally I probably would of went for Giroud but I'll take this over nothing.

Even if he's totally crap it's still a gamble worth taking. He's just here to be a body and lessen the burden.

If he scores 1 or 2 goals, I'd call that a success.

If it's all gone through, let's get behind him. He is going to go all out to try and snag a contract with us at the end of the loan, and clearly knows how to put the ball between the sticks. Can't wait to see our new signings on the pitch.

Don’t bother.

I like him, strong, got some skill and pace and scores goals, he's the ideal January signing to bolster our biggest weakness and then become a squad player after the summer.
