I said it a few games back, once the floodgates are open, he can't stop scoring

Had Lukaku tried this the first touch would have been a back pass to their keeper. So many pleasing elements to Ighalo's all around game. He's a big lad but it's far from being all brawn. Silky touch. Bargain!

His hold up play and general play outside box is very good, such a good player.

Will be interesting to see what posters who wrote him off before he even kicked the ball thinks of this move now.

His touch is way better than I was expecting and so is his composure. I’d like to see what he does if he hits a bit of a dry spell. But so far, its been a master stroke from the management to bring him in.

Might have been his last game for us. He's been fecking excellent.

We scored buckload whenever he started. Coincident?

And his hold off is just pure sex

I forgot which minute, but @GifLord had it on the match thread.

Fantastic goal. Looking an astute signing, should be a no brainer signing in the summer - loves the club, excellent rotation option, physical presence but not immobile meaning we don't have to radically alter tactics when chasing a goal.

Keep it up Odion

Feel like I have to apologize for him for not wanting him here after every match. He blew out my expectations, completely.
I don't think it was unfair to be a bit mithed by it at first, I certainly wasn't enthusiastic about it either - but he's done SO much better than I expected.

He was always good at Watford but playing at China who knows what level he was at. Just shows that sometimes all a player needs is an opportunity to rise.

Absolutely beautiful first goal, gutted he didn't score the 2nd! he looked so annoyed with himself.

Sign him and a right winger "sancho" and let him Martial and Mason share the mins next season for centre role. He's is a great option. Very impressed.

Feels blessed playing for his favourite club—credit to the scouts who have done a great job bringing him to the clubs attention.

It was absolutely unfair the amount of bile thrown at him, the club, Ole, etc. As if we turned down the likes of Haaland and Lukaku and insert X world class striker here to go for an out of shape guy from China.

Good player. Great gold up play, clinical finishing and doesn't mind sharing minutes. No brainer

What a goal that was. Amazing.

I remember we were linked with back in LVG days, when he had that great season with Watford in the Premier League. I’m interested to see whether LVG was interested in him or the club was. If it was the club, then we possibly underestimate the people we have at the club.

Marcel Bout was part of LVGs team and he’s the only one who is still here from the LVG tenure. Maybe Bouts responsible for getting Ighalo?

I agree with you in a sense, but lets be honest this could have gone very differently also, it was never a guarantee he would come in and do as well as he did.

Let's just be thankful that he's scoring goals, playing beautifully and is genuinely a fantastic guy. A great addition to the squad, who else is better that'll happily sit on the bench?

Great signing. We’d be mad not to sign him as a squad option.

What a loveable character. He is also a very good player. I'm yet to see him struggle with defenders, it's a great start. His goal was absolutely amazing. His movement seems to be great as our midfielders always find him with the quick pass. The whole team seem a lot more coordinated with him and Bruno on the pitch.

He’s been excellent the moment he arrived. Fantastic goal and all round brilliant performance.

I’m open to making this deal a permanent one.

If it was just China I could have understood the scepticism but he was top scorer in the 2019 African Cup of Nations. Had it been Mane or Salah who got top scorer in the African Cup of Nations nobody would be treating them like competition winners, so why Ighalo? Too many were too quick to write of a player still performing in international competition as recently as last year.

We’ve had our fair share of top tier talent that hasn’t delivered for us.

You can argue about what tier Ighalo is but he’s delivering for us.

Said it in the other thread, but he could have played his last game for us already, depending on what happens with the virus.

Would be a big shame, he's already shown that he's got some quality and he certainly gives us an option we don't really have otherwise. And this was his dream move, so horrible for him if it ended prematurely.

I'd be up for giving him a go on a 1 year contract, he looks good enough to be worth a place in the squad

How many years has he got left on his contract in China?

I'd say the club will definitely sign him for a 2 year deal unless the Chinese club ask for a ridiculous amount. He deserves more time.

Transfermarkt reckons it ends at the end of 2021, dunno if that's accurate. If it is though, then it's not much to buy out and we should go for it.

Could still end up being the most expensive transfer out of China though?
