Stinking the place out recently and getting away with it really. Hasn't been very good since before lockdown.
Was he genuinely rated? I assumed it was a cult hero/banter type thing you had going on.It's as simple as that. Lockdown or not, Ighalo has never been good enough. We deluded ourselves into thinking so.
You never know with caftards between who is serious and who isn'tWas he genuinely rated? I assumed it was a cult hero/banter type thing you had going on.
When he first got here he was genuinely useful. When he started in the cup games he normally scored, and when he came off the bench in the more important games he was good at helping close out games. Basically what you want from a squad striker. Was he genuinely rated? I assumed it was a cult hero/banter type thing you had going on.

Since lockdown he's struggled though.
Yep. I'm glad he got to live the dream and provided a good option for a while. Fingers crossed he can get back to that form so he can finish his time well as it'd be a shame (both for him and more importantly for us) if it all petered out with him continuing to struggle.Yeah I think he was on a high after move to his dream club, and was in brilliant physical shape.
Most of his goals came in games we were dominating and far better than the opposition. He’s confident and on a high.
Covid break happens and he loses his form and that’s that. It’s been an ok deal in the end as it’s only a loan but I’m glad we don’t have him on a perm. Think he’ll be remembered as a bit of a cult hero/banter player.

Ighalo is one more example why you should never judge new signing after first few games. And he is completely out of shape.
Probably shouldn’t have re-signed him. He’ll be gone in a few months though so no worries.
This is the big thing for me. He seemed to arrive in decent shape from China, and now he's put on a fair bit.Ighalo is one more example why you should never judge new signing after first few games. And he is completely out of shape.
He came from Chinese league where the standard was low. Then the pandemic. From the info from Spurs document, you can see that even if you have a gym at home, it's alone ain't same at working at club training ground. Many players, teams suffer fitness wise after the restart. I think we can cut him some slack regarding fitness matter. This is the big thing for me. If i'm 31 and finally get the chance to play for United, I would be eating and working in the GYM every day like Ronaldo for a year.
I'm disappointed Ighalo has got this chance of a lifetime and seems to have got complacent, like just being a United player means he's made it.
Or he just needs match fitness??When he first arrived he did the job he was signed to do; give Martial a rest in the cup games and come on late in the league to hold the ball up, give us a pressure relief and close games out. He was actually quite good at it. We never lost a game with him on the pitch.
Whatever has happened to him since lockdown and the summer, he can no longer do those things and we won't see much of him again.

The role he is doing here, he needs to be able to perform to a reasonable level without playing weekly. Some players can do that, some can't. If he can't stay sharp enough for it then there's not much point in him staying.
Unfortunately, he seems to be turning on to be the kind of player I was afraid he would be, after a brilliant start that got me thinking I was wrong about him.

We should t expect him to score every time he starts. He wasn’t great, but he allowed Martial to be rested - and that’s very important. We didn’t have anyone that could play up front bar Martial, Rashford and Greenwood before he came in.
That seems to be his key attribute.
