Welcome to Day 2 of the ODI snake draft round of 16. Some basic rules to consider while voting:

1) Judge players only on the basis of their ODI records.
2) Base your vote on which team you think is more likely to win an ODI between the two.
3) The ground for the match serves only as a representative of the overall playing conditions of its country.
4) The poll will remain open for 24 hours after creation.

KM has won the toss and has chosen to bat first at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.

Why I’ll win:

1) Explosive openers: While there’s a perception that both my openers are unreliable players, the stats say for themselves. Both of them has an average of over 40 and very good strike rate. If even of them get set, that means game over for the opposing team.

2) Solid Middle Order: Root, De Silva and Matthews are both capable of solidifying the innings, whilst all amassing quick runs themselves. So even if I lose an early wicket, I could turn to middle order to solidify the innings and take the game in the later stages for

3) Aggressive lower order batsmen: After the platform has been laid down by my top order. In Buttler and Russell I possess two of the most aggressive batsmen in the world right now. Buttler has England’s three fastest centuries in their history whilst Russell has an incredible strike rate of 130. I’ve also got Prabhakar who’s a very good batsmen in his own right.

4) Wicket Taking bowlers: In Donald and Ajmal I’ve two of the best ODI bowlers in a long time, both of them have an average under 25 and both are just world class. They’ll be ably supported by the likes of Watson, Gillespie and Prabhakar who are very good bowlers in their own right

5) Depth in bowling: In addition to the main bowlers I’ve listed, I’ve also got Angelo Matthews and Russell who bowl their full quota of 10 overs in their respective sides and have more than 50 or so wickets. If the ball is spinning, then De Silva and Root will provide me even more options.

6) KM: I’m a Caf mod and will infract you if you don’t vote for me.

Batting 2nd which I think suits my team just fine with Pollard and Faulkner who is one of the best finishes in today's game and with Rohit & Sehwag uptop anything is chaseable

Just a world class cricketer, would get into any team in any era, will look to bat deep can pull out a big shot when he needs to

2015 World Cup which was in Australia and New Zealand he scored 4 100+ in a row including 1 at the MCG, avg 108 had a 105 SR also 2nd highest run scored
Overall he has a 41.98 avg

Faf du Plessis
Someone who will look to bat deep as wickets are important to hold back for the big push late on, look to rotate strike and hit the odd boundary

A 360 degree player, very good at picking the gaps in the field

Big hard hitting West Indian all-rounder with a 100 in Australia, very good against spin bowling, give me a couple of overs with the ball

This is an outrage.
 
On to the match, I think my bowling is much better than him. My openers are better considering the condition(Sehwag has an average of 22.5 in ODI's in Australia). Sangakarra is better ofcourse but after that number 4 and 5 of my team are better. Both have the equal firepower in the lower order, however I've more batting depth and IMO my bowling is just better than him.

Tbf Andrew hall is also a decent batsman who used to play in the top order sometimes (I think). I think batting depth wise both are pretty similar though I don't rate pollard in ODIs (or any other formats for that matter).
 
still think I should win this though. The bowling lineup is much better than that off PS18. I think this is gonna be an empty thread BTW. PS18 lives in UK and comes online late at night.

Ps has a great top order but KM's bowling seals it for me. His batsmen will prove to be a bit too good for Ps' bowling unit in my opinion.
 
Tough one, leaning towards KM. Only problem is I on't rate his openers at all...
 
@KM should we even consider Ajmal? He's been shit since he stopped chucking

That's not a consideration to be made IMHO. At peak Ajmal was the best spinner in the world. He's a chucker but we are only counting peak performances. It doesn't say anthting about unfair means or.something.

Also I get the fact that my openers are a bit of a weak spot but I'm against Sharma and Sehwag ffs. Both of them are hardly solid too.

Sehwag is one of my favorite players ever but he has an average of 22.5 in about 20 matches played in Australia. The conditions must be accounted for in this case.

But we have to right? I mean I can't bring myself to vote for a chucker. It's why I didn't pick him.. I may be being harsh, but its part of what pushed me towards voting for the other team

Well that's your personal choice then but we are rating them as players not as human beings.
 
It's a cricket draft, not some cricket court of justice. When he was playing he got away with it for a long enough time to qualify for this draft.

He just got caught after. Who knows who else was doing it years ago when testing wasn't in place. The likes of him managed to pass the old tests anyway, so imagine how many there could be when testing wasn't even in place.
 
Saw KM's batting line up and was close to voting for ps but then saw opposition's bowling attack and meh.. very underwhelming..

Yeah, I think it has to be a factor. Ajmal isn't as good as his record says since he was chucking for at least some of that time. Just like how you can question a player's record if he didn't play against strong opponents or only in favorable conditions.
 
If we're questioning Ajmal's record then surely the same applies to Murali etc who were bowling in an era where rules weren't that strict.
 
I don't have any issue with Ajmal's action or he's playing here, in fact he's one of the important factor for me to go with KM.Boycott had got good batting unit but chasing /batting second against the quality of Ajmal/Donald and Gillespie should be an issue.
