October Fixture Bonanza

We can't have played nine matches in a month too frequently.

2nd Away To City
6th Away to Omonia
9th Away To Everton
13th Home to Omonia
16th Home to Newcastle
19th Home to Spurs
22nd Away To Chelsea
27th Home To Sheriff
30th Home to West Ham

Predict them line ups!

We then have just two league matches in November, away to Villa and Fulham, then the next one on the 26th December, home to Forest. It's another reason to hate the world cup. October will be like some mini tournament of it's own.

The aways are not too bad travel wise - Other than Cyprus

Hard to predict results with that lot

I think it is same for all our rivals, number of games I mean. The depth in squad will be completely tested. In other news, FPL is going to be very tough!

The 2nd string will have to play the EL games. They're at least the easier games we have in the group. We should be able to win them without the 1st XI. Not being in the CL should actually benefit us during these fixtures over our rivals. The 1st XI will play the PL fixtures. Spurs and Chelsea only 3 days apart will be fun. We got a few tough away games in there.

if we win them all, I'll put money on us to win the title! (I don't think the bookies will be holding out much hope of seeing mt!)

I just hope we beat City. That would send a message..

I’ve never really understood the Thursday Sunday “fatigue”. Because there are UCL teams that play Wednesday Saturday which is the same gap. And even Saturday league followed by Tues UCL.
Exactly. I said the same years ago. Its still 2 games a week spaced out.

So far, we’ve acquitted ourselves more honorably against the stronger clubs — Liverpool and Arsenal — than against the weaker clubs — Brighton and Brentford. Have faith!

All this because some genius decided to fix a summer tournament in the middle of the desert.

Yep, and if only this was the biggest issue with this absolute farce of a tournament. What a catastrophe top to bottom. It's disheartening, to say the least. Really sours my sentiment towards the entire sport.

That’s a tough month. Those domestic fixtures are insane.

Yay! football to watch every other day.

Just as long as everyone doesn’t lose their shit when the team drops a few pints…be happy and enjoy the matches! :)
Hopefully things don’t get so bad that they start drinking during matches

Can I confirm something: fpl fixtures are showing Everton v Man Utd. at 7pm on Sunday evening (on BT Sport), is that right? I can't ever recall a PL match kicking off at that time before, is this a first?

Wasn't Villa v Liverpool a funny KO time when they got battered 7-2 early in season

That is right, first time United will have played on my birthday, usually its the international weekend.

Its the first time I've seen it at 7pm on a Sunday, I'm sure it was first pencilled in for 7.30 kick off but brought forward.

and still no kick off time for Chelsea away?

If we can win our next 2 games (West Ham at home and Villa away), that could see us 3rd in the league especially with the following 2 games coming up weekend after next

Chelsea v Arsenal
Liverpool v Spurs

Arsenal will do Chelsea. The other one is anyone's guess.

Genuinely think we are the 2nd best team in the league right now in terms of actual play on the field. If we can find a prolific striker that fits the system wont be long until we're challenging.

Yeah of course it would have been better to get in front of Chelsea, however being within a point is better than four that's for sure.

Not been an awful month really.

That is an ugly month with City, Spurs and Chelsea.

6 league games - would we take 3 wins, 2 draws and a loss right now? 11/18 wouldn't be a terrible return but not amazing either.

Realistically it's hard to get a prolonged "easy" run of fixtures these days as in a well distributed fixture list, every 4th game is against a fellow top 6 side.
So it did indeed end up 3 wins, 2 draws and 1 loss from 6 league games. 11/18 isn't amazing but considering the fixtures it's not a bad return, it's positioned us nicely ahead of Chelsea and Liverpool, and just 3 behind Spurs with a game in hand.

We won our Europa games too but probably made more hard work of them than we should have and I'd have hoped we'd have been able to rotate more.

The next 5 league games are Villa, Fulham, Forest, Wolves, Bournemouth. We absolutely have to put a winning run together here to solidify ourselves in 3rd spot. After today I'm a bit worried that we're fatiguing, hopefully we can scrape 2 more wins before the world cup.

It was the wrong time to suffer our injuries. When we had to rotate we couldn’t.
