Really quite excited about the prospect of O'Shea and Ferdinand.

I haven't watched the game yet but has O'shea done anything special to make him better than Blanc today ?

Moved without the aid of a zimmer? ;)

O'Shea is definitely the better defender. Blanc was skinned twice by Jason Roberts today while O'Shea was solid and assuring.

O'Shea-Ferdinand partnership should be the first choice.

Thought he was one of the best players on the pitch today. How about a song for him? The "O'Shea, O'Shea, O'Shea" stolen from Ole doesn't count. :D

Did you watch the game? Give us a run-down please

for the most part he was pretty composed and didn't make any mistakes. however blanc was given the job of man marking the lone (?) striker and so o' shea didn't have too much to deal with...there was one instance where o'shea made a pretty terrible pass but then won the ball back in style. i don't know if i'd go with o'shea and rio starting just yet, but with a little more expierence i think he'll be great.

OShea had a good solid game today and I think in the future he will be the one to partner Rio. He does need more experience, but that wil come.

OShea was our most solid player at the back. I think our defence had a good game today, no lapses in concentration, though tougher tests will come, and I wasnt happy with how Blanc handled Jason Roberts. A number of times he caught us out and should have had a couple - left Larry falling on his arse once or twice. Martin Tyler offered OShea some very high praise, claiming hes already first-team material.

I thought O'Shea was excellent. Very calm and composed and definitely the best defender on the pitch today.

i think for now it should be blanc-rio and occasionally O shea-RIo. but as the season progresses we will see less and less of blanc and i hope it becomes rio-O shea

he's damn assuring wasn't he ?? ... you probably think he looks a veteran rather than someone so new to the 1st team ...

He'll grow that's pretty sure ... I only hope he can get tougher as he grows ... He looks very "cultured" currently ... but to be the BEST defender you have to have very good skill & balance ... and at the same time, the toughness and ability to get that last ditch tackle works ( and I don't mean using the "hand" like certain Henchoz ) ...

Future is very bright for this young man ... If he can prove less mistakes proned compare to Brown, I think he will be the main CB sooner compare to Brown ... He has to take good care of himself at the same time ... finger crossed, all the injury jinx pls keep clear from O'Shea !!

Oh I did, but I guess my review isn't needed now. :)

Staying on the pitch when 2 other defenders were subbed for tactical reasons must have given O'Shea a big boost & might be a hint by Fergie that he's very pleased with his performances & has the confidence in him!

Altho' we might say that's stating the obvious from what we've seen from his recent displays, the same cannot be said of Fergie's treatment of Ole, can it? :(

I'm very pleased about young O'shea, He's really big potential for Utd

WBA are hardly the toughest test for him. Lets see how he does against Chelsea who actually employ some of those striker things some team experiment with :D

O'Shea did fine but as someone said he wasn't up against anyone.

he's also showed his toughness when he wrestled the ball from JFH's feet...
conclusion is: he's tall, strong, fast, composure(he's seems enjoyed the game very much), and can only get better  can you imagine that what kind of defence we'll have if Stam didn't wrote a Bio?
Stam - Rio with O'Shea and Blanc for cover

Nah but Fergie wouldnt have had Blanc and Stam in the same team (apparently)

got back late last night so this wont be long

o'shea was superb last night and i dont think he can be droped

he made jimmy looked a tit with great tackles and reading of the game, like when jimmy tried to stepover the ball on the edge of the box and john just read it and came out with the ball

he was class

I reckon Larry will find himself on the bench when Rio returns o'shea has got to of earned his regular first team starts :D

Excellent display from O'Shea, this could be his season! But Blanc will still be there, or there abouts, to provide the experiencefor both him and Rio.

and the have a great selection of songs, stand up if you hate Man Utd,what class

cant remember the name of the boozer but it was about a 10min walk from chelsea village

and by the way if thats why there in debt what a feckin waste of money

O'shea was without a doubt our best player last night.
I love watching him go shoulder to shoulder with strikers, he always seems to win the ball.
Him and Rio should defintely be our new "Daisy n Dolly".

The futures so bright....

He was as strong as Jimmy, not many players beeing that? IMO, John was our best player last night! Adn still more to come from him! Can't wait :D He will be our new Stam! Can you imagine John and Rio together? Awsome! Please stay injury-free though... :D

Definitely O'Shea & Rio for me - we need to get this settled back four and if it means taking a risk with a youngster and a new RB for a season, then so be it. The long term advantages could be enormous.

During the second half last night, night we competed so much better in midfield when the back line pushed up, but that's a risk with Larry in the team.

Good to see us change tactics and wrest control of a midfield when it's slipping away from us - that hasn't happened often enough recently.

A point at Chelsea against 11 men, the ref and a linesman isn't a bad night's work. A lot more plusses than minusses, I thought.

Strong, compose, comfortable on the ball, seems to be able to win the ball in 'no-win' situations. As Fergie said, the "future is bright" for the lad. I'd prefer Rio and O'Shea anyday, as I've said all-along...

just how good will our defence be, if he (saf) plays the same back four so they can get used to each others play! gaz nev, john o, big rio and micky sil, but it wont happen! just look at arsenal! the years they played week in week out together! thats what saf needs to do, let them grow together! all we need is a keeper who the defence can trust! like they did with god himself big pete!

If we had Carini, Brown O'Shea Rio Escude then we would in time get the best defensive four in the world. Silvestre I think could be a left winger, attacks more than Giggs at the moment, and he defends unlike Giggs. O'Shea has definitely won the battle to be first choice ahead of Blanc.

Right now i rate Gary as our first choice rb.Brown-O Shea-Rio-Escude/Silv is too inexperienced. We need someone with real experience ad that is Gary.

ONE DAY O'SHEA WILL BE A UNITED LEGEND, AND THE LEGEND AS JUST BEGUN(sorry for shoutin'but you wouldn't have seen me on the roof top)

We need Gary in the back-four for the experience. John should now be ahead of Blanc and Brown to play with Rio, but I think SAF will play Larry more.

He was absolutely awesome last night, and im beginning to see why Fergie thought he could afford to sell Stam.
Brown is going to have to settle for a fight for RB with Nev now because i think we've just found our future long term partner for Rio.
