O jogo : Ederson Being considered as great replacement of De gea

We replaced Carrick with Fellaini we might as well replace DDG with Anderson

No thanks.

We saw the trouble we had bringing the 6'4" De Gea into the PL and getting him acclimatised from La Liga despite his obvious immense potential, and now the problems City are having with the previous best keeper in La Liga.

Ederson comes from a weaker league and doesn't look to have anywhere near the potential DDG had to make the mistakes worthwhile.

If De Gea leaves our next keeper needs to be commanding the box from day 1.

I think he's quality. How many times have you seen him play? I've followed him career since Rio Ave days. There has been plenty of players coming from weaker leagues that have become decent. I´m clearly unsuspect because i hate Benfica and i´m pretty vocal in criticizing their constant overhyping of players (Sanches, Gonçalo Guedes etc) but i think this guy has the potencial to become a career gk for a top club.

Just the CL games to be fair. He looks good but thats not the point. The PL is so, so much more physical for GKs than other leagues. Can he handle that, and if not how long would it take him to learn? Plenty of top keepers come here and still struggle.

So which Premier League keeper would you like to replace De Gea should he leave then?

To learn? We are talking about a very specific position, more than learning, he has to adapt, get experience and keep evolving. Then it depends on his individual quality and not about the league per se.

Joe Hart was a goalkeeper for a top club for how many years? Been crap for City and Torino, two different leagues, for the English Nt as well. What does it say? It isn't about the league, it's about about his lack of quality. When was the last time England had a world class gk?

Oblák is a slovenian who came from our league and he's now arguably part of the list of top gk in the world, playing in the best league in the World (Euro coefficient wise) how do you explain that? Evandro was rubbish for Porto and couldn't get a game and now he is one Hull's best players in their resurgency. My point? It's not just about the league, it's about the potencial and individual quality in given circunstancies.

Plenty of world beaters came to England and failed (Schevchenko). Others with very little reputation came and conquered (Kanté). We also had supposedly Premier League proven players like Schneiderlin being awful at a top english club. You never know what you might get but you try to scout the best you can. What i do know is that he premier league proven motto is as trustworthy as trying to see Messi fail in a wet cold night at the Britannia against a Mark Hughes side.
