Northern Ireland Thread

That part i dont understand in the slightest. What does he think more time will achieve?
Probably hoping the DUP somehow get more support so they do better at the polls. There's nothing I'd love more than to see DUP or SF lose their position as FM/DFM. Hoping for an alliance miracle.

Potentially a very big day today with what looks like the protocol getting sorted out. Will this mean the DUP finally back down so we can all get on with it? Of course not. They already have created a new red line last night about EU laws and essentially none of this is really about the protocol at all - it's about the fact they will never go into government while there is going to be a Sinn Fein first minister. I honestly do not think Stormont will ever return unless they can change the rules about getting it up and running without the DUP.

The DUP once again are showing everybody in NI that they couldn't give a single feck about them.

Hes been the face of the police recently catching all those big cases. Always on tv

It's almost certainly the dissident IRA
Can we be certain though after all the recent threats from unionists to return to violence. There's literally been posters in my estate saying that put up by them.

Hearing it was a GAA training session and he was coaching it. So it certainly points that way.

what a disaster.
Footy session. Soccer. Youth. Im between sessions when the next age group comes and thr younger ones go off. Loads kids witnessed it apparently

Just came to post the same hopefully everyone has been misinformed here locally

Simon Byrne said critical but stable so hopefully good news

Hopefully for sure. Certainly fear the worst when you hear of someone shot multiple times. Really hope there's not going to be loads of kids traumatised by what they've seen or heard.

Ps: crazy that this thread started after an attack on a police officer also in Omagh. Ronan Kerr who's brother used to post on here

That is brilliant news - hopefully they have enough evidence to put those guys away for 20 years.
Can't imagine any of these 3 being the shooters. They are probably just 3 high ranking officials in whatever version of the ira we have these days.

Purely speculation on my part

I’m thinking its mad loyalists after the threats of violence’s last week

Apparently there was an attempted hijacking in Derry last week, and a ‘viable’ device was found at the scene. Wonder where that was headed
