Northern Ireland Milk Cup

The BBC highlights of the Armagh game are up on youTube.

Cheers charleysurf.

Pogue I did a bit of looking and found the highlights from the first game on the bbc site. Click for link

Petrucci is the guy who does the clever little flick pass to Brandao for the second goal and whom Macheda celebrates with first after he scores the first.

4 6.00 pm Manchester Utd 5 v 1 Cherry Orchard Riada Stadium, Ballymoney

Lovely stuff, comfortably into the semis. Watford also through, other two games in progress.

Goals and report from the first game here:

Interesting, Fluminense are out. Hearts, South Coast Bayern, Watford and United are the semi-finalists, the draw should be out pretty soon.

United on track for Milk Cup joy

Manchester United celebrated a 5-1 win over Cherry Orchard
Last year's Premier Section runners-up Manchester United are through to the Milk Cup semi-finals after beating Dubliners Cherry Orchard 5-1.

Oliver Norwood lobbed a sixth-miute opener at Ballymoney and further goals followed from Joshua King, Evandro Brandao (2) and Jack Dean.

United now meet Watford for whom Matty Whichelow scored a hat-trick in the 4-0 win over Drogheda United.

Squad:

1. Conor Devlin
2. Reece Brown
3. Cameron Stewart
4. Matty James
5. Scott Wooton
6. Ollie Norwood
7. Chros Curran
8. Davide Petrucci
9. Federico Macheda
10. Evandro Brandao
11. Robert Brady
12. Jack Dean
13. Timothy Cooney
14. Josh King
15. Nicky Ajose
16. Zeki Fryers
17. Ryan Tunnicliffe
18. Nicky Jackson

Tim Cooney could be the same Cooney who plays in goal for Birmingham City Academy.

We beat Cherry Orchard 5-1 tonight and now face Watford in the semi-final.

Scorers: Brandao 2, Norwood, King, Dean

Number 13 was definitely the sub keeper in the Armagh game so that'd make sense. The Cooney who played for Oldham is 19 anyway apparently (according to the beacon of reliability that is the Football Manager database).

Cheers. Managed to get my head around BBCi and watched them last night.

Hilariously brief highlights to be fair, impossible form an opinion on any of the new signings (not helped by the commentator consistently getting their names wrong) If anyone impressed it was Matty James and Macheda.

Still, it was a neat little flick to Brandao and the team, as a whole, look to be playing some good stuff. Looking forward to seeing the 5-1 highlights soon (on BBCi from Sunday, I think)

We've got Watford at 8:00pm today in the semi-final. Should we win that then the final is 8:15pm tomorrow.

The final is on BBC2 NI I think, for those who have Sky. Hopefully not jinxing us by talking about it, kick-off imminent.

South Coast Bayern won the other semi, 4-3 on pens, so if we win we face them and if we lose we face Hearts in the 3rd/4th playoff.

into the 2nd half

Manchester United 3 (Macheda, King 2)
Watford 1

According to "A View" on Red Issue:

"Now into the second half the scoreline at Ballymena Showgrounds is now

Manchester United 3 (Macheda, King 2)
Watford 1"

Final Score

Manchester United 4 (Macheda, King 2, Brandao)
Watford 2

Excellent stuff

South Coast Bayern in the final in Coleraine tomorrow night then.

Man Utd Meet South Coast Bayern In Premier Final

Joshua King crowned Manchester United’s charge to the Premier Milk Cup final last night with a double hit to sink Watford at Ballymena Showgrounds.

United, last year’s beaten finalists, will face California’s South Coast Bayern in tonight’s showpiece at Coleraine Showgrounds (8.15).

Twice winners Hearts and America’s South Coast Bayern required penalties to sort out their contest after a scoreless draw at Ballymena Showgrounds.

The Americans, who ushered reigning champions Fluminense through the exit door on Wednesday, delivered a spot kick blow, winning 4-3 on penalties.

United were a goal up against the Hornets in 11 minutes. Frederico Macheda capitalised on King’s pass to score. Owever, busy Piero Mingoia levelled from the spot after being sent tumbling inside the penalty area.

However, King headed home a Nicholas Ajose cross and repeated the feat from a Reese Brown centre.

Mingoia made it an interesting finale after he stabbed home a shot at the second time of asking when keeper Conor Devlin had blocked his first attempt.

However, Brandao delivered a fourth for United to set up tonight’s final against the multi talented South Coast boys.

Bayern keeper Robert Gogatz emerged a hero – if a fortune one – against Hearts! TV replays clearly showed he pulled down Hearts striker David Love outside the penalty area after half an hour but referee Colin Turkington baffled onlookers by red carding the Americans midfielder Jose Anguiano!

Gogatz went on to save a Shaun Hill penalty in normal time and then saved a penalty as the US team triumphed in the shoot out.

You won't be able to watch the broadband stream but there's a 'narrowband' stream available for people outside the UK but I have no idea what the quality is like.
