Yep it's a pity, and it's just unfortunate everyone is talking about Trump v Clinton and not the fact that this is far more likely to be a Mossad blackmail op. Maxwell still isn't indicted. Why is that happening?
Conspiracy sites are going nuts over this one. They have been on the Epstein accusations for years and this has fuelled the fire.

No-one knows where she is for one thing. There have been reports that she’s significantly changed her appearance, but she’s extremely rich, probably has fake passports and has disappeared.
I want to know why Barr is even involved given that his father had links with Epstein.

Why is the first thought of some on here that it was a "Mossad Op"? Makes no sense at all, and I can't think of a single convincing reason why the Israeli foreign intelligence service would be involved in this.
Apparently that isn't true. His father had left the faculty before Epstein's appointment and there are records confirming. Daily beast had been reporting it as though it were true.
Well, if you want to delve into conspiracy land there's a theory that Jeffrey Epstein was working as part of a Mossad operation with Ghislaine Maxwell to get compromising photos and videos on the most powerful Americans and world politicians. Maxwell's father was an alleged Mossad agent and Epstein had links to various prominent Israeli businessmen and politicians.
The flip side of that is that Epstein had compromising videos/photos/information on prominent Israeli politicians and businessmen and they silenced him.
Because people will find a way to blame "the jews" for pretty much anything.
You can't expect internet conspiracy theorists to not blame the jews.
He committed suicide because he was so upset by Jeremy Corbyn's antisemitism.

Not that I believe any of this conspiracy guff btw, this is all just pure wild speculation, but wouldn't you say any country having that kind of leverage (video evidence of sex with minors) on the world's political elite extremely valuable? Could be used to blackmail for political favours or hush any form of criticism very easily.
I know you're just playing devil's advocate here, but I think my next question will show what is usually left after all is said and done:
Why would it be the Mossad who is launching such an op? The intelligence service of a rather small country, which has a lot on its plate in its own immediate neighborhood. Why is the first intelligence service that comes to mind Mossad? There are many others who would seem a more suitable target. There is only one obvious reason to point the finger at Mossad.
There's been some chatter about Ehud Barak being implicated, no? Isn't he running against Netanyahu?

I think it emerges from:
1. he had close ties with prominent Israeli politicians
2. the opposing attorney was also Harvey Weinstein's attorney and had hired Mossad agents to track Weinstein's accusers. There were question marks about his role from before the suicide.
3. Rumours from some previous case documents that Epstein himself was working for the FBI or CIA, thus putting him on the orbit of intelligence agencies.
Based on the people who could have been implicated, I think it is likelier to be a domestic op. Anyone from Dershowitz to Clinton to Trump and his circle or even the FBI/CIA getting rid of a bad asset.

He also had ties with prominent members of the British royal family, the scientific community, hell, even an important Austrian scientist. So that is not an argument for "Mossad did it".
How can you hire Mossad agents? That would mean they commit treason, since they are the intelligence service of a country, and not for hire.
Rumours put him in the orbit of the FBI and the CIA, and YET the first agency to be rumoured to be involved is the Mossad? That's not logical.

It says it in the headline: ex-Mossad... That means they are no longer employed by Mossad. I mean, lots of people that were involved in intelligence agencies or military or police become private investigators. That doesn't mean that they are still involved at all with their former employers.

One the phone to my sister earlier and there was a lull in conversation, so I went with 'so, do you think Epstein was murdered?' she repeated the question to herself at which point my brother in law shouted 'YES' in the background. With an 'if he's actually dead' follow up. He's a long term conspiracy theorist (not lizard people but not too many degrees away from that) and I think is quite excited that everyone suddenly agrees with him.

The thing is: conspirative actions of all shades have always existed in politics and inside the networks of executive power. And the circumstances of this case are certainly strange. But, to turn a popular saying on its head: Just because they're after you doesn't mean you're not paranoid. The difference between the attempt on a realistic view and prejudice/nutterism is usually quite discernable.
I'm arguing that this view has been massively mainstreamed and what is commonly considered believable has significantly expanded with Epstein's death. That many people who formerly believed the powerful didn't/couldn't do these things have had their view changed.
Not that the flat earthers are mainstreamed.
