Gaming Nintendo Switch

If I were to buy a switch, should I go with a full switch console or switch lite? I already have a PS4.

I guess that depends if your planning to do most your gaming on the bus or train while travelling or sit at home in front of a tv.

Picked up NBA Playgrounds 2 for just over a fiver. On sale in the store at the moment.

Also that 51 worldwide games gives you 4 as a freebie. The scalextric one is strangely addictive. Shame there isn't more tracks.

Zelda progress - 2 Divine beats beaten and the master sword retrieved. Also got a house fully kitted out in Hateno village. Gonna polish off all the open side quests I have before tackling the final 2. I guess I should finish those memory/picture quests too.

Surprised not to see more love for Yooka Laylee and the Impossible Lair on here.

A really good old school style platformer.

wait what?

Anyone got any good games on the massive sale going on?

I bought Bastion (Played a bit and so far its amazing), Transistor (Meant to be more of the same as Bastion, just in a futuristic setting), Unravel Two (Co-op with the missus), Mark of the Ninja, and Titan Quest (Was between this, Torchlight 2, and Diablo 3, but figured it's only £10, which is heavily reduced from the RRP on Switch, and used to love it on the PC).

Any other games anyone know, worth getting, less than £5?

Thanks. I got one due to your original post. I am now putting my PS4 up for sale!

Happy days!
Nice! I upgraded from a Switch Lite. It arrived yesterday and already enjoying being able to play on the TV. Unfortunately had to lose my Animal Crossing save but was able to copy everything else across.

For anyone else looking, they briefly had more stock today at the same price. Not sure if that is them getting more stock in or someone cancelling their order though.

Zelda update - 3 divine beasts down and just the one in the Gerudo area to do. Also one more memory left to find.

I saw a green light shooting from a mountain range the other night, teleported over to a shrine near it and lo and behold there were a ton of those blue rupee bunnies and a blue horse/unicorn thing that ran off when I approached it. Weird. There's so many little touches to this game it's great. Don't have a problem with weapons breaking like others have (there's tons of em although shields seem harder to come by). The only issue I do have is it feckin rains far too much. Been plenty of instances when I've wanted to climb something and then a thunderstorm has kicked off out of the blue.

Oh I grabbed that 51 worldwide games as well the other day after a recommendation from a friend. Only played a few so far but have enjoyed them all. The bowling is pretty much Wii Bowling, the darts is surprisingly addictive and the tabletop baseball is a blast online. Haven't even touched any of the card games yet.

Enjoy it whilst it lasts. I miss getting lost in that game. Also yes it basically felt like as soon as you saw something you wanted to climb it spawned rain.

Might try the worldwide games thing!

If you have hud on, it's shows when it'll rain and with it off (which is easily the best way to play) you can learn to predict it.

Either way a lot of people forget you can build a campfire and rest past the storm, nearly always even half way up a mountain ;)

Can you? Won't the rain just put it out?

Find a bit of shelter, most mountains have trees/recesses. Throw some wood down and a piece of flint, then hit it with a sword and you can cook/rest and skip the storm.

No that's too sensible. I think I'll continue to attempt a vertical climb whilst sliding back down and swearing at the tv. I know how to make a fire you heathen!

Good stuff. It gave me gaming back when I got mine. Enjoy. :)
This is exactly how it made me feel. I've had a PS4 for half a decade as a paperweight pretty much. Only played FIFA when my mates were around and that's it.

Now I'm furiously browsing the amazing games I plan to buy.

Can't wait for Mario Kart and Smash Bros to arrive next week!

Living somewhere with a shared TV isn't great for console gaming. The Switch solved that. I even got my partner to play games.
Another thing I hadn't thought of till I moved to Ethiopia in the beginning of the year: If you're playing on the TV and there's a power cut, you don't lose your progress. I'd never thought about that, but when you have power cuts several times per day the Switch is a godsend.

Make sure to grab a micro sd and get some stuff before the nintendo store sale ends on Sunday.

can you lovely peeps hit me up with some kid friendly titles. We've bought the girls a switch as a surprise for being so good with the home schooling. They're already in to gaming, so it doesn't need to be proper easy. I'd just rather it wasn't overly violent or sweary.

Animal Crossing is definitely on the list

Animal Crossing is a great shout.

I would imagine they'd enjoy Mario Odyssey.

The EShop has regular sales on there so maybe check for games on there once a week or so.

You will mostly child friendly titles on the Switch anyway.

Resident Evil is on sale on the switch store.

But anything Mario related would be good: Oddessey, New Super Mario Bros, Mario Maker, Smash Bros, Kart

Pokemon or Zelda if they want an rpg

Kirby, captain toad and Yoshi's crafted world. These 3 games are cute as hell and easy to play no matter their age.

Fun too.

cheers guys, I'll see if I can hoover some of these up pre-owned.

While I'm at it, I better find some dad games too. I mean it would be a bad idea to let them take it to bed with them.

It's a shame you've just missed the e-shop sale, but I'd definitely recommend trying to pick up Lego City Undercover or Lego Incredibles on ebay as they'll be under £20 and have some resale value in the unlikely event that they don't enjoy them.

Edit: I second the earlier recommendation of Captain Toad too, athough it's not multiplayer like the Lego games.

Overcooked 1 and 2 are good fun as multiplayer games for all involved. Very simple idea but challenging and are a good laugh (when your partner isn't usless!)

I'm new to the switch but a lot of my mates seen to buy the games digitally, saying there are sales on every now and then.

I looked at the price of a few games digitally and physical copies and the difference is quite a bit. In some cases, even with a sale, the digital price will only come down to what it costs physically any way. Example, Ultra Street Fighter 2 is £35 digital and about £25 physical.

Plus if you have the game, you can sell it in the future or keep it and it would add value when you eventually sell the console.

Not sure what the benefit of digital is in this case apart from not having to swap discs.

Was a tough decision between Pokemon Shield and Luigi's Mansion for my next game but decided on the latter :D

Should keep me going until lockdown eases a bit more and my birthday gets here :)
