Sorted my pre-order from ShopTo and all paid up. I did the pre-pre-order thing, but didn't get an email, so if anyone has done something similar it's worth checking the 'back-order' section of your account to see if you can pay now.

Sold out in Argos ffs. The problems I had to get the PS5 pro disc drive before Xmas are about to be revisited with this, aren’t they?
Think I managed to snag an Argos one as well despite my bank saying they'd helpfully blocked it as it looked dodgy. cnuts.

I mean the difference here is that Sony doesn’t want you to own a disc drive and purposefully aren’t making many of them. Nintendo actually does want to sell you a Switch 2 and they’ve been coming off the production line for a while now. If you miss day one, stock will refresh quickly I’ve no doubt.
The console is expensive and is releasing in June, not Xmas. It’ll be same as PS5 Pro where the day one supply sold out and then a week later you could easily get it and have been able to ever since. And the gossip with the Switch 2 is that Nintendo had this ready to ship in Sept 2024 and then delayed the launch, and have been manufacturing units nonstop ever since and thus have millions and millions of them ready to distribute. I certainly wouldn’t panic about missing out at Argos.

Pre ordered from Shopto but got put on the back order. Was confident of getting first shipment as I registered what felt like minutes after they opened the process so am a little disappointed in that sense.

I know someone who registered last December and won’t be getting one at launch.
It was literally hours after they announced the console back in Jan. I want to say 16th/17th???
Of course I don’t know what their process is. I think I’m a silver member so maybe they are prioritising their gold members. Really not sure how they registered back in December when it wasn’t announced. Maybe they had a very vague option somewhere that I didn’t see.
I would keep an eye on pre orders. Hot Uk deal is a good place to check when they go up.

I doubt Steam Deck will be capable of running Switch 2 games. Seems like Switch 2 is going to be a fair bit more powerful.

Yes and on pc. I played breath of the wild In 4k/60fps with mods years ago

I've actually got the mario kart bundle even though, i've never been a huge fan. Wish it came with donkey kong, tbh!
Speaking of which, ngl, I was disappointed to find out that it's apparently 1080p. It is 60fps, though.
