Scouts watch video clips as well, if they couldn't attend the matches or if they needed to review something.
They would still need to review real match footage to apply context to the actions taking place. That's just a fancy way of saying you can't scout shit from youtube clips.

I think I read somewhere that they basically watch super cuts of all the actions a player is involved during a couple of games. If they think they see something in the player they will probably start watching them personally or send someone there who will track only the specific player with a camera for the entire game to better judge the player's behavior when he is not involved in any immediate action.

Like what? What off the ball things do you miss that can highlight a player has a good touch?

Oh my bad, I missed the context. With regards to touch, yeah you can probably determine how good that is from full highlight videos. I don't know how actual scouts do it but I'm sure they use video analysis nowadays, so something similar.

Seriously??... Also, I could ask the same for James.

I give martial 5 games before people start moaning about his attitude. The lad looks like he doesn't have it in him to work his arse off for the team. Not sold in him at all

It shouldn't take that long.

I have rapidly gone sour on him too, so count me in after just one game.

Somebody buy him please, they trying really hard to dump him in someones lap.

Sad to hear we're not in for him. Another right winger/attacker we're turning up our noses to.

In Lingard, Mata & James we trust.

How can Napoli afford 72 MGBP? Bloody hell.

If anything, this goes to show that the market has truly changed and we need to prepare to bid over 40-50m for literally anyone.

We were never interested in him as Ole seems only interested on British players

Napoli agreeing a 71m deal for Pepe must mean they are looking to recoup some of that money? Come on Ed, get Koulibaly now!!!!

If it goes through arsenal are getting a fantastic player. Shame we are not for him. We should be all over this deal.

Spare a thought for Zaha. His boyhood club offered 40M for him, he agitated for a move and then they paid 80M for Pepe.

Fills a big hole for Arsenal. They have even less actual wingers than us.

Lacazette, Aubameyang and Pepe would be a devastating front 3.
Hope they don't improve thier defence it we're screwed for top 4

80m is scandalous. Just when you think the market is slowing down up pops Arsenal mortgaging themselves to the hilt.

€80m  crazy stuff. Didn't think Lille would find a buyer for that kind of money after desperately trying to create a market and auction him, but good for them.

I see, thanks. Pff a RW, we dont sign those. Dunnot why people qq about it.

This IS the market now though. Everybody is having to pay this sort of money.

If we keep turning our noses up we just won't sign any players. Makes 80m for Maguire look reasonable.

 Imagine if Arsenal actually spend more money than us.

Neither are reasonable but in the end if you can afford it the question is about the player's quality and whether you actually rate him. Also they better be successful.

I have a good touch but I'm 40 with 2 dodgy knees and I can't run anymore . You see so much more watching a player live and that is why scouts go to actual games instead of sitting watching YouTube clips . You can make anyone look good on YouTube

Who has went for this amount of inflation though? This has been a shit transfer window all round and Arsenal rock up with what? The 4th / 5th biggest fee of the summer?
Big clubs seem to be calling smaller clubs bluffs on the outrageous fees. Its framed as mid table clubs not having to sell but its also mid table sides not getting what they asked for.
And up pops Arsenal. Their budget just isn't big enough for this. If he under performs they are screwed since I cant see them selling him foto a loss and spending the same again.
Its an outrageous risk

Arsenal are making some smart signings with a very limited budget. Surprised Lille accepted their offer if payment in installments.

Not really sure what makes him an 80 million pound player to be quite honest.
