Nicklas Bendtner

Again not what I'm saying!

Sign Bendtner because he might one day be as good as Holt and Davies?

Have I logged onto a Bolton forum by mistake?

I'm saying that this type of striker matures later than a lot of players, like Holt, Davies or many in that table. If Bendtner similarly is a late bloomer, which I believe he will be, he will be a very effective striker, perhaps even in Vieri's quality braket as he is already better than the two I mentioned earlier.

German media reporting that Borussia Dortmund are interested in Arsenal striker Nicklas Bendtner as a replacement for Lucas Barrios. Article also says that Wenger could let him leave for around 5m Euros.

He has been given a €100,000 fine as well as a 1 match ban for flashing those Paddy Power underpants. Match he'll be missing is Denmark - Czech Rep on the 8th September.

Pretty hefty fine, but stupid stunt by Bendtner nonetheless.

Some other UEFA fines in comparison: £45K Spain 2004 (racism); £16K Serbia 2007 (racism); £10K Croatia 2008 (racism). Showing underpants; €100k.

They should have sponsored his socks and had a section on their website called Niklas' odd socks, where they'd have socks with odds sewn into them. Actually, that's a rubbish idea.

But in respect of a transfer, if he wasn't guaranteed to get a decent move before this tournament he will now.

Keeping it seperate from the racism I think it's fair enough. I nearly puked when Ronaldo walked up to the camera with his fecking nike symbol on display. You greedy fecking cnuts, we are already assaulted with ads and you twats are already fecking loaded.

The racism issue is retarded. Instant bans is the only way to go.

He had a message written on his vest, didn't he?

Thats a hell of a fine.

Even for a footballer thats gonna hurt. Will the Danish FA take care of that?

Think of the money earned by wearing them. That should cover the cost of the fine anyway. Paddy Power might even cover it for him.

The racism issue is completely separate, and shouldn't be compared IMO. They know Bendtner will have earned well out of doing what he did, so they've taken that money away. Simple.

Personally I think the fine and the one match ban is spot on. Bendtner has obviously been paid a lot of money to do this stunt, glad it back fired and bit him on the arse.

That's not to say that racism is less important, it isn't. The punishments for racist abuse from the stands should be greater, but perhaps simple fines isn't the way to deal with it at all.

It certainly tells a story about how restrictive they are when it comes to advertising that they can't control. They basically want to be able to control (and benefit) every avenue of sponsorship available.

The scale of those fines is just stupid and shows that UEFA run by idiots.
Yes stupid for having the advert but 100k fine :wenger:

I'll probably be laughed at for this, but if we're going to sign a striker to replace Berbatov, which I think we probably should, this is the man that I would want us to go for. I've always rated him as a player, think he's a very good physical presence allied to a decent technique, and I also think that he has grown as a player during his loan to Sunderland.

My rational is that if we're looking to sign a new striker it should be someone who gives us a different option, and we haven't really got that battering ram option. I think Bendtner is still going to improve, is a good age with good experience, and would be available at a decent price hopefully, what say you?
I'm feeling kind today...I didn't laugh.

I'm sure we could manage to sign a much better striker....least I hope so anyway. ;)

It's simply a case of greedy UEFA protecting their greedy sponsors by punishing a greedy player.

Personally I don't think football fans should be acknowledging any of these greedy cnuts, except to call them greedy cnuts.

Maybe if Bendtner hadn't have been such a greedy cnut, accepting financial gain for flashing Bookmaker sponsored monks, none of this would have happened though, eh?

Just a thought.

This a million times. I feel so sorry for Bendtner the greedy cnut, he must feel he gets paid so little. UEFA destroying his freedom of expression, the world needs to know he loves the gambling website Paddy Power and how it helped him so much.

In the end the money won't matter, I bet Paddy Power even will cover it.

He has said he'll appeal it already, I just hope it won't lead to a further match ban or something shit like that.

In the end the comparisons with other fines is what is fecking ridiculous. Porto gets fined 20k for racial abuse just around 4 months ago, it's pretty obvious to me the fines should be the other way around at the very least. But that is another discussion.

I'm delighted he had a good tournament though, shouldn't be any trouble for him to find a new club where he is suited to play rather than being fecked about out wide at Arsenal.

Isn't there any PL team that wants him? He had a good Euros. Wages won't be a problem if what he says is true. For him it's about playing regularly and being able to travel to London no problem. CL football is ideal as well. Maybe that's been an hindrance, Arsenal holding out for too much or just no takers in the league?

I think his wages are probably biggest problem. Bendtner is very good and underrated player IMO, he would probably be one of the best player in 10 of 20 premier league clubs.

If the total financial packages for him and RVP are considered, I think I'd rather have Bendtner for us tbh. (this is in no way saying that he is better than RVP!)

I'm not so sure. He just came out with the 3 requirements for his next team. Seems that CL football is a bigger issue.
He specifically said that happiness is more important. He's been on very good wages and unhappy at the same time and he doesn't want that. It's a tall order though. CL football and being close to London. That means Manchester clubs, Chelsea or perhaps a Dutch team in the CL.

Than he has a problem. He won't end up in Manchester, or at Chelsea( I would rather take him than Torres though). I hope he finds himself solid club, I like him, don't know why.

I don't know why someone like Spurs haven't snapped him up. They need 2 strikers, he's a good striker and would be very very good as the backup. Of course, he'll want to be first choice, so I truly can see him at a club that's mid-table; and him being one of the best players at that club. Criminally underrated; one of the reasons we almost won the league; he was sublime against City. Made Sunderland's attack look classy, held the play up, and I think he was the one who scored a brilliant goal.
