I'll probably be laughed at for this, but if we're going to sign a striker to replace Berbatov, which I think we probably should, this is the man that I would want us to go for. I've always rated him as a player, think he's a very good physical presence allied to a decent technique, and I also think that he has grown as a player during his loan to Sunderland.

My rational is that if we're looking to sign a new striker it should be someone who gives us a different option, and we haven't really got that battering ram option. I think Bendtner is still going to improve, is a good age with good experience, and would be available at a decent price hopefully, what say you?

It's been a dirty day. I needed a laugh. For this, my thanks.

Please tell me you are taking the piss!

I suppose you wanted us to sign John Hartson back in 1998 as well?

I thought he'd been a bit shit at Sunderland, he was dropped for a bit wasn't he?

Regardless, no he'll never be close to good enough for United.

To be fair haven't followed their season massively closely, watched about 6 games and he's impressed me whenever I've seen them.

He'll never be good enough, look at those attributes!

Not only is he a very mediocre player, he's also a huge cock. Never in a million years will he be considered.

He'd be more useful than Owen, but I can't imagine he'd accept a role as 4th choice striker at this stage of his career.

So you're going on 6 games then?

I've seen him a lot more over the course of his career of course! I was qualifying my initial statement when I said he'd grown over the course of his time at Sunderland, which from what I've seen I would say he has, although 6 games may not be enough to judge this.

An ego larger than Puyol's hair. Wouldn't want that talentless prick anywhere near the dressing room. Arsenal still own him and I refuse to get their scraps.

Please, if we're signing a striker, make him a proven striker who can provide at least 15 goals a season if not more.

I'd say Dempsey is the darkhorse option. 29 is a perfect age, had a stellar year, wouldn't cost that much, and he's very physical in the box. Can take a freekick and is a professional who just wants to win.

I think Bendtner is underrated, but still, he is not United quality. We could use some player who is good as a sub since IMO Welbeck should be our first choice striker, and I don't see Bendtner as a game changer. He should stay at Sunderland, I think they are good club for him.

But if Arsenal are prepared to let him leave for a smaller club, what makes you think he's United quality?

Hardly set the World alight at Sunderland has he?

Thing is with Bendtner, he's still only 24. For a striker of his type they usually develop much later, just look how long its taken players like Grant Holt and Kevin Davies to become effective. I would take Bendtner over both of those at the moment, and I do believe that there's scope for improvement that will make him a real handfull in the coming years.

Would suit our style of play more than Arsenal's with our wingers, all the same I think they should be keeping him even though it looks like they wont be.

Are you saying that we should sign Bendtner on the hope that he matures into the next Grant Holt?

:wenger:

:wenger:

That's surely a wilful misrepresentation of what I'm saying?

And rightly so because he's shit!

If we are to sign a striker I'd much rather it be Huntelaar but I'll leave that to another thread.

Bendtner.

Dude, just stick to picturing David Nugent in the shower with 11 black men.

Is it? What are you saying then? It's not my fault if your post was vague, that's what I thought you meant.

I'm saying that this type of striker matures later than a lot of players, like Holt, Davies or many in that table. If Bendtner similarly is a late bloomer, which I believe he will be, he will be a very effective striker, perhaps even in Vieri's quality braket as he is already better than the two I mentioned earlier.

Are you Bendtners agent?

If so, feck off. If not, feck off.

Fair enough.

I don't think Norwich fans would even think of swapping Holt for Bendtner, ignoring their ages. Holt is a better player no doubt, IMO.

Holt has 14 goals in 23 starts.

Bendtner has 8 goals in 25 starts.

I'd take Vieri now at the age of 38 before Bendtner

Two threads, one about Bendtner and the other about Foster in the space of four minutes??

I don't like mocking people, but come on man!

Bendtner?!

Good God, haven't we suffered enough already today?

Replacing Berbatov with Bendtner, what an innovative way to weaken our squad.

I agree that Berbatov is a superior player to Bendtner, but he doesn't have Bendtner's physicality. I think as an option to change the game Bendtner could be more useful in the squad, and he's also got potential for growth as a player.

Surely even Holt would be better than Bendtner?

Brilliant. You can have Agent Bendtner as a token of appreciation for sending us Tweety a couple of years ago.

He's obviously a terrific talent but can't 'connect the dots.' Will experience and maturity turn him into a player he is capable of? Who knows. Maybe Will Keane will.

Bendtner is better than he is given credit for on here no doubt - but not United quality. He has scored some good goals for Denmark where the play suits him far more.

He has ruined it himself with his attitude, but given the right club he'd fit good in I think. At Arsenal he was played out wide often, where he is about as effective as when we play Macheda out wide.

He has had a decent season for Sunderland and I think he could turn into a decent striker if he stayed somewhere like that where he could be played properly instead of being fecked about at Arsenal.

I'm going out on a limb and say if he'd been playing with Sunderland the past few years he'd easily break double digit on goals every season. I think he would've this season too if he hadn't got injuried a couple of times.

Considering Arsenal's strikers other RVP are Park and Chamakh, that's not why he'd be leaving. He wants to be first choice is why.
