NHL 2011-2012 season

Headed to the Jets vs Bruins game tonight... Evander Kave will light up the B's

2-1 to the winnipeg. first game if the last sixteen that the B's didn't get a point. gratz!

Real cracker of a game too... great atmosphere in that building.

Jets over .500

Who would have guessed!

I'm a bit worried RHN is closing in on the dreaded 43 points (yes, I know he's 11 away, but it's close enough), I think the Oilers lost 3 or 4 players for the season on that amount of points. He's been like a points machine so far, we can't lose him or Eberle either.

It's so nice to feel positive about the Oilers once more, prior to results from last night the Oilers were doing OK, but the OK Barons were top of the AHL, and are still there this morning... In the WHL the Oil Kings are top of the Eastern Conference.... What a turn around in 12 months... Yes, things might stall, but hey it's a good feeling and the future looks wonderful....

Enjoy, some of "us" are still stuck in a nightmare that won't go away. If it weren't for Montreal and Calgary Avs would be real laughing stock right. 1 or 2 wins in the last 20 matches vs NW opponents. I guess division games isn't important anymore. And what the hell is Minnesota dong?

So Crosby then.. To me it seems increasingly likely that he'll never get back to the player he was.

Lindros all over again?

When he did play, he looked pretty good. I think they should have been playing him every other game though... just to get through that first phase of his recovery.

I hope he's ok... I have tickets to the Jets vs Pens game on Dec 23rd... looking like a bit of a long shot at the moment.

Yeah, it's a shame when it happens.. especially to such a talented player.

Now Giroux is out with a concussion as well.. Something needs to be done about this. I love big hits, but I watch hockey for the skill.

Whilst I agree something needs to be done, taking hitting out of the game will turn ice hockey into nothing short of basketball on ice, and I don't want that. What would help is something no one in the NHL will say as they know the NHL won't go for it and that's bigger rinks. Players are taller, stronger and faster than ever before, and in the confines of the NHL rinks it's lethal. That added size of an Olympic rink gives players a bit more freedom. Of course the NHL won't go for that as few of the clubs would want to lose any spectator revenues by increasing the size of the rinks.

Yeah, they won't give up the revenue.. also big ice hockey just isn't as fun to watch IMO.

Another cracker at the MTS centre last night

Jets 2, first overall in the NHL Minnesota Wild 1

Jets quickly becoming unbeatable at the "phone booth"

If they keep up this home record they might actually have a shot at the playoffs after all.

As good as it is having the "Jets" back, I don't know how much I want them to do well this year? It would be nice to see more Canadian teams being successful, but it's Winnipeg....

Still after a mini break the Oilers are back tonight and so is Taylor Hall, from what I am hearing. The kids line is back, wonderful news, now let the fun and games begin again.

the Oil play the Jets in mid feb... should be a cracker

As long as the Oilers can stay fit and are playing well still. It's normally around this time of year we start to tail off. It would be nice to see us play a full season for the first time in a while.

Jacques Martin fired this morning, too bad Gauthier did the firing and isn't gone with him.

Anyone catch the first episode of 24/7 with the Flyers and the Rangers? Great sports documentary.

Bryzgalov is such a legend.

Here it is btw

The Rangers players seemed a bit stiff and formal. The Flyers players seemed more at ease with the cameras. More Lundqvist is needed he's a class act but like most Swedes he is probably more comfy away from the cams. Neither team is really among the the teams I'm most curious about though, would love to see behind the scenes at Leafs,Detroit,Boston and Vancouver. Montreal and Chicago would also be fun.

Don't think HBO would want to do it with a Canadian team tbh. Agree on Lundqvist though.. definitely a class act. I'm sure there will be more focus on him in the following episodes.

Tortorella is one angry man. Ripped Gaborik to shreds on the bench. Would hate to work for a boss like that, but I guess his style works in the NHL.

It's really interesting to see the teams from the inside and HBO sure knows how to make good tv. Too bad Pronger is injured and out for the season (or worse).. he's always fun in front of the cameras.

the B's absolutely spanked the flyers today (in philly). 6-0...makes the 9th game this season the the B's have scored 5 or more goals in a game. GO B's!!

HBO should have been covering Teemu Selanne's return to Winnipeg.

Game of the season.

Headed to the Jets vs Habs tonight at the phone booth

Should be another cracker.

The thing is that the Oilers did this last year and are repeating it this year all be it with a different station. Check out Oil Change on the Oilers website. I've not found this years yet to watch, but I will do soon, perhaps Sunday might be the day. However, last season was really interesting, starting from pre-draft right through till the end of the season.

8-0 B's over the panthers.

Watch the Panthers slowly start to fall apart in the east after such a good start.

After watching the Crosby-less Pens last night, they will take some beating if they ever get him back

I watched Oil Change last year. It was very interesting, although not as well done as 24/7.

Anyhow, the WJC's start today! Should be great fun as always. Definitely one of the most entertaining sports events of the year. Looks to be a pretty open tournament this year with a lot of good teams. Looks like any team out of Canada, USA, Sweden, Finland and Russia could win it this year.

Well, this thread died. Looking forward to the WJC final between Sweden and Russia tonight. This year.. is our year!

Shame that the game starts at 2 so no pubs will show it, gotta sit at home and watch it I guess then the last episode of 24/7 will be up for download shortly after the final. If Sweden dont win it this year they will never win again!

This is the year! Swedish WJC boom-bust cycle is at it's zenith.

I like this team, not the most talented we've ever had but I love how they never seem to give up. Russians are dangerous though. Kuznetsov is an unreal talent. No more sleepwalking through the first period please. Gustafsson has to be better today. Hopefully the crowd will cheer for us like they did last game against the Russians.

Yeah, awful schedule but what can you do? Will be a tough day at work tomorrow.. again.

Isn't it a red day tomorrow, trettondagsafton?;)

I have this bad feeling Russia will win in a shootout. Zibanejad, Forsberg and Gustafsson needs to step up tonight.

Has Ziba been drafted yet? He reminds me of a young Forsberg with his physicality.

Yes he played 9 games for Ottawa Senators this season before they send him back to Sweden to develop some more.
