49ers and Cardinals? What were they smoking?

Don't sleep on the Cards - they will be good this year with Johnson back, Fitz still in fine form and an accurate passer. Having a guy who contributes 17 sacks doesn't hurt either.

There's nothing to sleep on, unless Rosen is as good as Watson last year, there's no way they are going to win that division. They are also not going to make the wild-card rounds. The NFC is just too strong.

Bradford will start (unless he's injured).

Until he doesn't and he isn't going to take them there either.

I think they could go 10-6. They have Johnson back and Bradford is a significant upgrade to an aging Palmer. So all things said they have a 3500-4000 yard passer, a 1k plus rusher, one of the best receivers in the game, and the NFL sack leader. That's a pretty good foundation for improvement.

I just don't see it at all. Whether Johnson and Bradford can stay healthy remains to be seen. Their o-line was perhaps the worst of the league last year, and they've already lost their starting C for the season. Justin Pugh, D.J. Humphries and a new scheme is probably not going to fix that issue on their/its own, which might mean that Johnson and/or Bradford won't stay healthy for long. As a Seahawks fan I know how much a terrible o-line can hurt your team, even with a good defence. Their receiving corps beyond Fitzgerald isn't that good either.

One way or another the Rams are going to win that division and beyond that I think that the Saints, Falcons, Panthers, Vikings and Packers will all be better than them. And those are the teams the Cardinals or 49ers will have to beat in terms of their records, if they want to make the playoffs. I just can't see that happening at all.

Ringer did their own version of the number of wins pool , they used some random system to decide the order of picks

I'm optimistic about our season i'll have you know, i'm hopeful for a playoff spot but truthfully i can't see past the Rams for the division.

Why wouldn't you be? Before Garoppolo arrived you were close to beating other teams that you marginally lost to. I just think other teams are stronger. It would really surprise me, if the second placed team in the NFC West will have a good enough record, to challenge, who's coming second and third in the NFC South and who's coming second in the NFC North.

Well they won 10 games last season and added Cooks ,Suh and Talib so they deserve to be rated highly

That's the thing, the NFC is stacked. Eagles, Rams, Vikings, saints, panthers can't be written off. Then you have the Bears who have really solidified their defence. The Seahawks who can't be underestimated. not to mention the Packers that are a wild card. I would like to think that we can nab a wild card spot but 7/8 wins will be progress.

And Peters.

I actually don't think the Packers are a wild card, they will be very good IMO. Jimmy Graham will be used better than he was by the Seahawks. Their running back situation is much better than last year with Williams, Montgomery and Jones. On top of that they drafted two very talented CBs.

I think you will take a step forward, but it won't be quite enough for a playoff spot. Could be wrong obviously.

First time I heard about the AAF was yesterday.

https://aaf.com

it's another professional league starting a week after the super bowl in 2019.

is there much being made about it in the states??

XFL is coming back in 2020 too. Seems a bit of a stretch to introduce 2 new leagues to the same market - although assuming they wont run alongside the NFL.

It looks like they are trying to gain NFL fans leaving or boycotting the league because they are, well, thick and don't understand the protests.

Was disappointed that the Vegas Arena football team wasn't still there for my mates stag do next year though!

Struggling to see how the Rams are overrated.
Indeed, they were excellent last year, have had an extra offseason with their new coach and added quality players on both sides of the ball. Given Seattle's demise, Arizona's current state and the Niners probably not being ready yet, they're the safest bet to win their division.

The only downside I see is that Gurley probably won't have another 19-TD season.

Don’t disagree - but don’t think he will need to. Their defence should be insanely good.

On the flip side though, nothing is guaranteed as there are question marks.

Will the free agency signings fit in the system and team dynamic?

Will Goff be able to play better if teams game plan Gurley out?

Will the Rams be able to do it now that teams know them, their style, and are known to be a good team whereas last year were a bit of a surprise?

Then again, despite all that, if certainly isn’t overrating by saying that with their team etc. they should be SB contenders this year!

The problem with the NFC South and North is they are all good and can all take wins and losses off each other. That could work in the 49ers favour.

Which AFC and NFC division they are playing will also be key.

The north has the AFC east - outside of the patriots, the jets, dolphins and bills are trash. Then has NFC West.

South has AFC north, and NFC east.

West faces the NFC north and AFC West.

The north and south perhaps the easier schedule based on that.

So can the Seahawks and Cardinals, if they truly bounce back with Johnson.

For me cardinals have too many issues, even with Johnson.

I think so as well, but some obviously think differently. Seahawks still look like the second best team in that division to me.

Seahawks ready to trade Earl Thomas for a 2nd round pick.

Wake up Gute!
Nope. Dallas offered a second this week and it got rejected. He's reporting to camp now as well, don't think a trade is impossible now but honestly wouldn't be shocked if he signs a new deal in a few weeks if he gets back to his usual level. Stupid thing is I bet an extension would have already been sorted out if he hadn't held out, gave extensions to Duane Brown and Tyler Lockett already.
