NFL Thread 2014-2015

Wohooo Vikings! I didn't like the Barr pick, but it's growing on me. I absolutely LOVED the Bridgewater pick. I wanted us to take him at 8 tbh. Filled two massive needs. No second rounder now, but we still have two third rounders for tomorrow. Might use one of the higher picks to trade back into the second to grab someone if Darth Spielman sees anyone he likes. Loved how this ended up. Keep it up, Vikes!

Other things I liked:

- Green Bay picking Clinton-Dix.
- Cowboys not messing up and taking a safe player
- Browns get maybe the best corner and Manziel. I don't love Manziel like many do, but I think he excited the fanbase there. And they need it.
- Panthers taking Benjamin. Cam must be happy!
- CJ Mosley is a great fit in Baltimore I think

Things I hated:

- Lions taking a tight end. Why? How about a cornerback?
- Ja'Wuan at 19 is a reach to me. Smith at 26 as well, although less so than Ja'Wuan.
- Bortles at 3. I think he'll get thrown into the fire.

Pats have done a good job on defense so far but I hope we turn our attention to WR. Need to improve that position.

NFC teams best drafts

Nice thing about these articles is that they are not afraid to go back more than 10 years. Seen too many of these sort of lists where the writer(s) tend to think that if it did not happen in the last few years it is not worth talking about.

I am shocked the Jags went for Bortles. I hope he doesn't end up being a Gabbert 2.0. Felt sure they was going to go for Mack.

Bortles behind that offensive line might already be set up for failure and picking him that high could set the Jags back seasons if he doesn't work out because of the cap hit. In short, that's a typical Jags move. My Rams added Aaron Donald to Robert Quinn, RIP every quarterback ever in the NFC west.

Washington got:

  • Robert Griffin III (#2 pick, 2012)
St. Louis got:

  • Michael Brockers (#14 pick, 2012, via additional trade with Cowboys)
  • Janoris Jenkins (#39 pick, 2012)
  • Isaiah Pead (#50 pick, 2012, via additional trade with Bears)
  • Rokevious Watkins (#150 pick, 2012, via additional trade with Bears), released in 2013
  • Alec Ogletree (#30 pick, 2013, via additional trade with Falcons)
  • Stedman Bailey (#92 pick, 2013, via additional trade with Falcons)
  • Zac Stacy (#160 pick, 2013, via additional trade with Texans)*
  • Greg Robinson (#2 pick, 2014, via Washington)

Worst trade ever?

I suppose that's the end of Mallett's time in New England. Is this new guy any good? Surprised they moved for a QB in the 2nd round when other positions are a more pressing concern.

I'm hoping they do trade for Mallett because while its good they're looking beyond Brady's tenure, they really do need some help in some other positions. Smart move giving the Jags their 3rd round pick for a 4th and 6th round pick.

Draft day as a Pats fan is guaranteed face palm. Didn't like their first 2 days that much. Would've loved the Easley pick, if we got atleast 1-2 starters on day 2. Not even one WR taken so far in the deepest WR draft in a decade.

Is there a reason he fell so far? From the film I've seen of him, he looks decent.

Got too cocky in the personal interviews. Main selling point about him were his intangibles and he lost a good part of it because of that.

The Rams drafted Michael Sam. Good to see. He apparently had an amazingly bad combine and has some deficiencies(size for position, etc), but I hope he does well. Every decision made about him though will invite comment though.

Pats drafted only 1WR?! In the 7th round?!! Ffs Bill.
