NFL Dynasty League

Florida man is out. The others who aren't engaged have been given private messages letting them they need to up their activity. The people who we expand with have asked to join and would by definition be engaged.

I wasn’t referring to him (RIP @Florida Man, love you man despite the vote).

I have committed to this league for the long term, and want others to at least do the bare minimum of responding to trade offers.

This particular example is tricky though (not to side track the discussion though, obviously I fully agree building activity is key). For example sometimes I receive trade offers straight on the website which if I am not interested in, will typically ignore. On the other hand if someone supplements it by messaging me on here to discuss it, or messages me about a trade in general, then I’ll always respond.

Expansion sounds neat. I play in a 14 team dynasty and it works well. However my team would be massively punished over others as I have built on depth rather than just the starting lineup. I think there would need to be compensation based on where players were drafted etc

i mean you should still just hit reject on the website. its not hard
Not saying I shouldn’t … but also doesn’t signify I’m inactive. It should be wholly apparent that given how frequently I post on these threads that most likely if I haven’t said anything I am not keen! But yes. I will do better good sir.

Also folks - we are looking at moving to a more modern provider with a solid app and interface.

I've had good experience with fleaflicker and there is also sleepr.

Speak up if you have suggestions.

I think this would also significantly impact teams who have already traded key players in order to acquire draft picks and young players who they are hoping will improve down the line. They would lose out quite a bit.

Very keen. I don’t know if it’s possible, but I would really like it if somehow we can retain the stats of these 3 seasons. It’s nice having that and would be sad to lose it entirely.

Thinking out loud.

20 player roster before draft.

3 new teams, 60 players required.

60/12 = 5

We should cut five players each as normal before the draft. Then the expansion draft happens. Then the normal draft, with the two new teams getting the first two picks in each round.

Then we reduce fees for a couple seasons to account for them needing time to grow. Job done.

Thats a priority, I think it can be easily done

Never mind the numbers are all off here. Totally depends on whether someone directly takes over Florida man's team or its amalgamated into the expansion pool.

Just don’t think that works unfortunately. It would be at least 2-3 years before they are remotely competitive. The calibre of players I’ll be cutting from my roster are likely to be those who would likely get 0 points next year. There might be people keen to join but to keep interest over that period of time when your team will be that shit … I know I personally wouldn’t bother.

I honestly think the fairest way of expanding is something like:

- Retain only a small number of players. Talking 3-5.
- Reduced entrance fees for new expansion teams.
- Expansion teams get first spots in the draft.
- Compensation to the most successful dynasty teams to date recognising they lose most out of this (not sure what).

In effect, you are basically redrafting but have the opportunity to keep your key players, are rewarded if you’ve done well in the last 3 years to reflect your work is now undone to an extent, and some perks for expansion teams to get started. Obviously, this annoyingly would eliminate the point of the dynasty so far as largely redrafting which would be annoying. Struggling to see another way though.

you need to retain the vast majority of your team. in my original idea the most players any team loses is 3. thats what makes it a dynasty league.
I don’t see how anyone would want to join under these circumstances. I certainly wouldn’t. It would take years to be competitive and that’s if you’re lucky.

It's true that we have to find a balance between not punishing good teams like Altos who've been built up but you're right we also can't give these guys terrible rosters either. This is an ongoing discussion so continue to post ideas.

Yeah that's fair - it's why I mentioned reduced fees for a bit.

How many is that? We only need an extra 40-players if FM's team is cannibalised.

Might be better that instead of protections you have to offer up X QBs; Y RB/WR; Z TE etc.

@Eboue let me know if you're going through with the expansion and if there are places left.

Also don't mind working with a bad roster if it's compensated through draft picks or something like that.

Going to start some convos in a bit - can send you through link to the current league, charter etc.

Love it.

Sleeper gets my vote but anything is better than the current provider.

I'm fundamentally happy with the concept of expansion teams. The idea of keeping a basic roster, and then making all of the remainder of the players available is basically fine as far as I'm concerned, but there needs to be some compensation for where I've focused, as best I can, on younger players that I hope come good or draft picks. I may not be as badly affected as Alto, whose WR core is going to be ravaged, but nevertheless there's two or three young prospects that I'd have to make available that were expensive picks in the first place.

0% chance anyone takes florida mans roster as is
Yeah I don’t have any room to talk shit, but I was looking over that roster and…it’s rough. Aside from my favorites amongst my younger players I at least have some draft picks coming in.

Someone in my other dynasty just dropped Calvin Ridley :wenger:

Does the league need new players? :D
Hahaha

Thing is, they have silly position caps. I have AJ Brown; Jamarr Chase; CeeDee; Justin Jefferson; Devonta; Elijah

I'm planning on dropping Elijah but bugger all FAAB left

I am in love with any RB stack in the two first rounds so Gibson/Mixon is just amazing.

Kupp is a hit too with capable QB play now. Don't like DJ Moore because of Darnold, Henderson great RB3 for any team, Moore and Marshall great late sleepers. Would've gotten someone like Penny or Hubbard as handcuff to a borderline RB1 rather than D. Johnson who might or might not feature in as RB3 behind Hyde and Robinson.

Don't really like your TEs, I'm usually targetting Jonnu or Higbee around those rounds. As for Prescott, good pick-up especially in the 6th, usually I'm waiting a bit more for Stafford, Tannehill or Hurts but nothing wrong with Dak.

Great team for a 14-team league.

Here's where my team is now heading into the final game of the season

9-3, tied for first, most points

October 11th, traded Dak and Crowder for Fournette and Matt Ryan

October 14th, traded Henderson and Cooper for Kupp and Wentz

October 25th, traded Gibson for Deebo

Current roster

QB: Hill, Wentz, Newton
RB: Mixon, Lenny, Perine, Jones, Buckhead
WR: Kupp, Deebo, Moore, Aiyuk, Gage
TE: Schultz
