NFL Dynasty League

Doesn't really matter too much. We're drafting really early as it is. We're not in a rush.

Yeah, so early that an injury or 2 is really going piss some of us off probably

Yeh exactly, and what if Zeke or Gordon hold out . Completely wasted 1st round picks.

Why on earth are we drafting so early??

Looking back, would you still have gone with Mahomes in the 3rd round instead of RB? Going early on TE and QB presents challenges. That being said, Mahomes and Kelce are by far ranked highest at their positions.

I think so. I basically could have had Kerryon Johnson and Baker Mayfield or Patrick Mahomes and Phillip Lindsay. I'm happy with the latter duo. I supplse I could have waited on QB even further but I wanted either Mayfield or Mahomes to pair with Beckham or Kelce

Kelce is in a tier of his own at his position, basically gives you WR1 upside where others will majorly struggle if they didn't take a top 3 TE. Don't know where he was picked but if he's available at the turn I'm picking him every day of the week.

I think going with Mahomes inside the first 3, maybe even 4 rounds is the wrong decision though. His TD percentage of 8.6% is freakishly good and quite simply not sustainable, even if he could stay around 6.0% (Rodgers' career percentage), that would be good but will come at a cost for his fantasy value. The difference between Mahomes and, let's say someone like Dak or Trubisky who are currently #15 and #17 QBs or something like that, is the difference between getting an Aaron Jones/maybe even Leonard Fournette, and the likes of Lindsay and Carson - too big for my liking. If you really want a top QB, you could still wait a few extra rounds and grab Mayfield, Watson, even Ryan who will almost certainly present close to the value Mahomes is getting you.

I really like Mahomes but I won't have many shares of him considering where he's currently going in drafts. I even expect his price to go up when the more casual fans start drafting.

Feck, really wanted Hunter Henry. Went with Edelman instead as the run on TEs hadn't started yet (Henry, Engram and OJ Howard all still available). @JJ12 @Organic Potatoes If I went with Henry for my 5th pick, would you have picked Edelman for either your 5th or 6th pick?

I wouldn't have there's a number of young WR's I fancy for break out years that I'm looking at later on.

I am obvs a massive fan of Jules though.

I took Kelce at 2.8, 20th overall. Ertz went 25th and Kittle went 27th. Took Mahomes at 3.5, 29th overall. I came into the draft not planning to take him or any QB in the first 5 rounds but when it came to my pick in was considering a running back only. I already had Beckham in the first so didnt want to double up with Cooks or Thielen and the running back options didnt impress me. Josh Jacobs, Damien Williams, Kerryon Johnson have about 16 good games combined in the NFL so I decided to take Mahomes with the plan to pick up a middle tier QB later. Then I can trade Mahomes when someone gets desperate down the line and in the meantime enjoy the double points any time Kelce catches a touchdown. I definitely wouldnt have picked him there if this wasnt dynasty format.

Fair enough, at a certain point you've got to pick the value that is presented to you. I think Jacobs walks into 300 touches in that Raiders backfield but he has yet to prove whether he can handle the workload since he didn't do that in college (neither did guys like Kamara though). Damien Williams is already injured so not looking good either. I think there are a few RBs currently going WAY too low but yeah, it's not nice feeling like you have to reach for them.

Kelce at 20 is crazy value by the way, wow.

We've also seen a lot of QBs go early, maybe due to this being dynasty.

Mahomes 29
Watson 38
Goff 40
Luck 46
Rodgers 52
Mayfield 56
Surprised Goff went so high and ahead of a few others - depends if he continues his trajectory I guess.

I'm still thinking that I am going to wait on QB until the 8th / 9th round if I can. Reckon there is still enough value available, whereas there are specific young players that I want to grab now that I don't want to miss out in the next 6th / 7th rounds.

I'm counting on the Rams offense to be on fire again this season. Also he's only 24 years old.
He kinda struggled after their bye last season with Gurley and Kupp out (I remember one particularly ugly game against the Bears). I think he's a decent QB who benefits from a fantastic head coach - no guarantees it stays that way. Agree that he's still young though but his current Dynasty ECR is QB8, which seems about correct to me.

I’ll be honest, I didn’t watch too many NFL games last year let alone pay attention to the Rams so I wasn’t aware he had his struggles. I’ll put it down to youth if anything and it’s not like the NFC west is a strong division.
