Yaaas Broncos!
I see no downside to this to be honest.
There were eight teams in for Watson before the massagegate story broke.
"Dolphins, Jets, Panthers, Broncos, 49ers, Patriots, Bears and Washington were all interested in a deal for Watson. The Dolphins were prepared to part with Tua Tagovailoa and the No. 3 pick that they instead dealt to the San Francisco 49ers. And that was just a starting point"
Hard to see any value in trading for him at this point, especially with the potential of a criminal trial looming.
The only downside at $3M is we won’t do a ‘best mullet in the west’ campaign with Minshew.I see no downside to this to be honest.

As much as I love the build up to the draft and reading all the hype about players I’m not really familiar with I really hate the absolute myriad mock drafts from every asshole who can halfway call themselves a journalist as if they have the first clue.
Just seen one predicting Denver getting Fields at #9.
Bugger off.

Think the first round starts at 1am – but there will be (endless) build up shows before that! What time does it start UK time? Doubt I will be able to stay up but might try... it’s like 2am or so right?
Why do millions of people try to predict the outcome of football games every weekend?I am so fed up with looking at mock drafts from everyone not just journalists. I don't get why anyone would want to see their mock draft "look what i got" Who the feck cares ?
You went down a list of names most of whom you haven't a notion who they are and randomly picked some out bravo
It’s totally unthinkable, never gonna happen, I refuse to allow myself to hope for anything........Fields to the Broncos at #9 is not unthinkable either.

..... But could it? Dammit!
Question.
Like watching NFL but don't look for/follow all the off fields ins and outs.
Why are the teams proposed trades (for picks) so public? Seems odd as I'd assumed they'd want to keep secret.
I have hardened on the idea that Miami screwed up if the trade down costs us Pitts and Chase. Especially Pitts.
Sure it's nice to have an extra first, but we always have shit tonnes of picks and it seldom makes any difference. Last year our extra first rounder turned into a backup corner.
At some point you have to prioritise quality over quantity
Why do millions of people try to predict the outcome of football games every weekend?
Because it's fun. It's fun to watch tape of talented football players you haven't seen before that are entering the league. It's fun to make up your own scenarios of who goes where and what could happen tonight. And no, most of those people don't have a clue what NFL teams are gonna do because of trades and so on, but a lot of them do have a good view on what are a team's most pressing needs and which player will go in which range of picks.
Fields to the Broncos at #9 is not unthinkable either. Neither is Jones falling to the middle of the first round if the Niners don't pick him. All the potential different outcomes is actually what makes it fun to think about the draft.

Oh yes no doubt. I start to struggle at the bottom of the first round, can't be bothered doing more than that tbfThats fair enough but when you are getting down to the last few rounds the vast majority of people are surely picking random names
Many are just inferred from the relative needs of the teams and the draft/trade capital of the team trading up. And those guesses are often right because they’re so obvious, like Darnold being traded eventually. You can also adjust for the GMs who have different styles, same as soccer clubs have different transfer and academy development styles. You know who will be more aggressive with seeking trades up and who trades down for more picks.Question.

I feel like the hype behind Pitts is a bit over the top and Chase sat out last year so who knows what he will end up like where ever he lands.
The Fish should be able to land either Waddle or Smith at 9 or Elijah Moore at 18 . Any of them would be good business for Tua.
Some people have Waddle over everyone at WR. Nothing wrong with Chase or Smith, as they project to be pro-bowl caliber #1 ’X’ WRs. But ‘Tyreek Hill’ types only come along every so often. If we miss out on the top two guys i'd prefer Smith over Waddle. Sure Waddles pace will cause issues but he is still a slot guy. Smith runs fantastic routes and despite his size should score many TDs at the next level

That said, your best hope is Atlanta lowers the asking price to DEN or NE relative to what San Fran paid for #3 and I wouldn’t be confident of that happening because there’s other trade up spots for them starting at #6.
Nah, Jefferson wasn’t the best WR on his own team. That was Chase. At 19 years old he easily brought home the Biletnikoff in a year when Jeudy, Ruggs, Lamb, and Jefferson were all playing. He weighs 30-40 pounds more than Smith at near the same height but is still faster.I have the same feeling that I had with Jefferson last year. Jefferson was the best receiver in college and the best receiver in the draft, Smith is the best receiver and analysts are trying to be way too cute about this.

I don’t think they’re being cute at all.

Waddle was outpacing Smith last season statistically before his injury. He is almost as fast as Ruggs but a much better overall receiver. And I disagree, I think that he was the best route runner with great hands and pretty good speed, his skills were the most obviously translatable. But lets say that you argument about the award is correct then Smith is the better receiver why would people bring Waddle.

I’m wary of others tiring of this debate, so I’ll just stop here with my silly player comps:Smith has better career stats, his average catches have more depth and he has higher market shares. On thing that I believe is important here is that Smith has significantly more volume which means that his production is more reliable but market share is also a good way to predict who is better when you are judging too receivers with stats that are relatively close. Now Smith weight is an issue with stronger NFL corners, Chase's size and lack of separation could be an issue too, hopefully he isn't a faster Treadwell, while Waddle low usage should put a question mark over his head.

I like that.I’m wary of others tiring of this debate, so I’ll just stop here with my silly player comps:
Chase: CeeDee on steroids, or Anquan Boldin with wheels
Waddle: Tyreek Hill and Steve Smith somehow made a baby but raised it with anger management courses
Smith: Marvin Harrison cloned himself with the help of a miracle from Tony Dungy and supplemented it with DNA from OBJ and Jerry Rice
DJ is good because he doesn’t pretend to be an expert scout; he just relies on what he hears.I've almost completely skipped the mock drafts this year. Load of clickbait shite. But there will still be '2022 early mocks' on Sunday morning.... with future top 5 picks going in the 4th round.
I say almost completely because I still glance at Daniel Jeremiah's
I'm convinced we're not taking Jones at 3. In fact, I've convinced myself we're getting Fields.I've resigned myself to the fact we are getting Jones at 3...
I read a piece by Simms saying that he felt the closest player Jones was like was Drew Brees – but for some reason I just cannot get excited by this pick.
All the 'journalists' seem to go endlessly back and forth on who we will pick, so still have a hope we will get Lance...but Jones has to be the clear favourite for Shanahan.
