RGIII has a career passing percentage of 65% whereas Tebow is 48%.
65% is pretty damn good...same as Tom Brady in fact! Accuracy wasn't an issue. His frailty and lack of progression was (Checking down, finding secondary options, recognizing what the opposition was giving him....)
RGIII got a raw deal from Gruden.
Obviously, he didn't do himself any favors by not putting his head down and working hard, but have you seen the level of support Cousins has gotten...now compare that to what happened with RGIII.
Lifelong Skins fan and I'll never forget that rookie season - he was brilliant. I still think, RGIII can go on to have a decent career in the NFL - Tebow is fecking shit, he simply can't throw.
Before I agree with you that Tebow is shit, can we establish that neither of us is ever going to win this debate?
Now then: Ofcourse Tebow is shit but so is RG3: His rookie season when he had good numbers, everything was built around him. The plays were extremely simple. The field was spread out wide so all he needed to was go through his checkdowns and if noone was open he would take off. At the end pof that season defenses had figured it out and his numbers went down drastically. He then tore his ACL and he lost his mobility and far worse, his own character let him down. He didn't want to get better, his former teammates called him names in the media. (nothing too offensive but clear enough to know they didn't like him).
Last August (yes, 2015) he called himself the best QB in the NFL ...come on. and the problem is not that he thinks it because he needs that attitude to compete but to say it out loud when he's been messing up for 3 years straight.
My point is simply as a back-up which TJ Yates will be as well (as per original discussion) I rather have the guy who will support the starter and can run a couple of plays than RGIII with his mesed-up attitude
