Nfl 2010-2011

Yeah, my preferred winner is the Packers too now.

They have overcome injuries etc and I like Rodgers as a player more than anything else.

I'm seeing a packers steelers superbowl

prob steelers winning it with the packers o-line and the way the steelers blitz

the defense get carved up by an average QB.

The average QB now has 4 postseason wins in just his second season. How many did Peyton or Brady have at the same stage of their careers?

Comfortably outplayed Brady 2day, has beaten the Pats twice, the Steelers and Colts just this season. How many other QBs have done that over the past few years? Sanchez has a long way to go but too many are far too critical of him.

Don't rule Sanchez out yet.

4 post season wins in just second season is impressive and is by no means 'mediocre'

It's a team game though, innit? I'm not trying to say anything bad about Sanchez because he gets more abuse than he deserves (and I hear a ton of it being in the area), but you have to admit his supporting cast has been rather good the past 2 years. There are a good number of QBs who could have beaten those teams if they had the supporting cast on offense and defense that Sanchez has.

Any elite receiver would be. It always amazed me how guys like Irvin and Rice would always find a way to get open no matter who covered them, even double coverage. I remember Irvin making 12 catches and 2 scores against Deion and company in the 95 championship game (94 season) and Deion getting away with that arm guard that stopped Irvin from probably a third score.

by pushing off!

Sanchez is not a great QB. He'll probably end up like a Jim Plunkett or Phil Simms which is a good career. He's certainly not in the Brady/Manning/Brees/Rodgers/Rivers category.

He's fortunate to be on the opposite side of a great defense. I can't begin to imagine what Manning would achieve with that great defense and balanced running game. FFS, even Romo and Cutler would look great with that Jets squad.

Flacco has four career post-season wins, all on the road, in three years - is he great too?

Dilfer won a Super Bowl - is he great too?

Swap Eli for Rivers and the Giants still win that Super Bowl and probably are in the playoffs this year. Because he's that much better than Eli. Worth at least 1-2 wins per year alone. Put Rivers with the Jets and you're talking a potential dynasty.

Huge test for Sanchez in Pittsburgh with the Steelers dominat against the run. I think big ben will get his third ring this year. Pretty impressive for someone who is never mentioned amongst the Manning/Brees/Brady

Ben R reminds me of Aikman - both supremely talented players but shackled in balanced offensive schemes so one never gets to truly see just how good they could be, statistically. Granted Ben R throws more than Aikman such is the current era of the NFL. But both are winners which is ultimately how QBs are measured.

Aikman received more praise than Ben but was often left out of the discussion as the top QB in the 90s with the likes of Favre, Young and Elway around. Many point to his statistics without knowing a damn about how the game was played in Dallas.

And the early nomination for Most Spastic Post-Game Outburst goes to Bart Scott.

Granted this isn't the first spastic moment from Bart Scott (see many of his interviews, and his famous flag throwing incident against the Patriots in 2007).

I think Aikman isn't looked at in the same light, because of how loaded some of Cowboys teams in the 90s were...Offensively, Emmit Smith and Michael Irvin, just to name two, and some absolute studs in defense too.

He was obviously respected enough though...got into the HOF very easily, with plenty of support from the voters.

Hmm... Montana had Clark, Craig, Rathman, Rice, Taylor, the best OL in the 80s, the likes of Lott, Haley, and others on defense... but go on.

QBs are often only as good as the talent surrounding them.

Or do you really think Steve Walsh would have won a SB let alone three?

Obviously no QB is going to win a SB on his own, but Aikman played in a loaded team, and a system that called on him to usually manage games, not win games. He was a very brave guy(the number of concussions that guy had, and this from a Skins fan), but he just doesn't have as many signature games, which highlight his individual brilliance.

That's not his fault, he did what he was asked to do brilliantly...but when it comes to judging brilliance, people look at things differently.

I don't think it's a slight on him to not consider him amongst the very elite(as I said, he's a 1st ballot HOFer so he hasn't exactly been disrespected or ignored)

Indeed.

Why did all the cool teams in the NFC have to play each other? Now only the Packers are worth pulling for IMO.

I hear you. Unfortunately, they walked the walk defensively after all the talk so he can say what he wants. I watched parts of the game for a second time today and their coverage was really good, it wasn’t just Revis and Butthead either. All the defensive backs and linebackers played a part in flooding zones and getting contact on the receivers. I have not seen Brady go through several reads, pat the ball, go through his reads again and then get hit or be forced to dump it off like that for quite a while. It reminded me of some of the Zach Thomas and Jason Taylor Dolphin games.

there was one play where brady had the ball in the pocket for what must have been 8-9 seconds without having to move (great protection) but couldn't find a single open back except for the check down receiver when it was 3rd and long. amazing d

Brett Favre files retirement papers

One more win and this becomes the sweetest week for the Bears since 1986.

go packers

the only team that I can see that has a change of beating hte steel curtain

His draft stock wasn't as high as it could have been due to his questionable attitude. I had heard he felt he was the shit at Vanderbilt (granted he probably was).

Hows ma team Pittsburgh doing these days? Saw them beat some cruddy Baltimore team.

They are taking on the New York Jets this Sunday in the AFC Championship game. Winner goes to the Superbowl to face either the Green Bay Packers (your spiritual team imo) or the Chicago Bears, who will play just before the Jets and Steelers (odd that you like them, considering).

Do you mean the new york yankees?

That is good though, I will be able to watch them live on TV if they reach the superbowl.

Explain to me why it's odd I like the Steelers and why the Green Bay Packers should be my team, Dwayne?

I will bookmark that page.

 No, the New York Jets. They play in green and white, not pinstripes.

After your iphone was nicked I thought you maybe wouldn't like a team called the Steelers as it sounds like stealers i.e. thieves. The Packers gag is usually pretty self-explanatory on this side of the pond.

Aha. I get your stealers gag now.

Green Bay Packers...cheese heads...hmm.. green and yellow... Something about being gay?

I have a good friend who lives in Wisconsin and supports the Green Bay Packers. He sent me a cheese head hat for Christmas. It seems like a pretty gay state.

Just out of interest, and un-NFL related, but is the wisconsin accent the same as the band camp girl out of American Pie and do wisconsinites over use the term 'this one time'?

I couldn't tell you as I've never been. The 'this one time bit' sounds pretty accurate, though.

I thought her accent was more Minnesota than Wisconsin but what the hell
