Next Next Chelsea Manager? | Ah sh*t here we go again | Premier League and McDonald's Hall of Famer Lampard in charge (temporarily?)

The reality chelsea have right now is that not a single manager in the world can keep that whole squad happy. With everyone fit and Nkunku there next season, I would put their best XI as

Kepa

James
Fofana
T. Silva
Chilwell

Kante
Fernandez
Kovacic

Sterling
Nkunku
Felix

Which means you would be leaving out

Mendy
Cucurella
Badiashile
Chalobah
Koulibaly
Mount
Zakaria
Loftus-Cheek
Chukwuemeka
Pulisic
Mudryk
Madueke
Havertz
Fofana

Which of these players can they even sell?

It's such a random collection of players, whoever comes in is going to have to be ruthless.

Not forgetting the players on loan like Hudson-Odoi, Lukaku, Bakayoko etc who will almost certainly be coming back.

That is literally what happened with RDM. He was given the job full time and sacked 4 months later.

Damn, somehow I completely forgot that you guys gave Bobby Di the job on a permanent basis! It's hard not to when momentum builds to such an extent, as was the case with Solskjaer tbf.

 Brilliant. English Ole back to save them from relegation.

Hope they get Enrique or Nagelsmann. Don't think either is as good as some claim. Especially Enrique who has shown nothing outside of what he did in Barcelona almost a decade ago. They might be better off going the Ancelotti/Zidane route, not necesarily master tacticians or managers that will develop young players but two guys that command respect in the dressing room and have shown an ability to win despite not necessarily having a specific system. A young manager like Amorim or De Zerbi would probably face the same fate AVB and Potter faced because of their lack of respect within the dressing room.

Couldn't tie Ole's laces, mate. :)

Danny Murphy has spent the last two years on Talksport arguing Chelsea would’ve still won the CL if Frank hadn’t have been sacked, so I’ve got no reason to think this won’t go spectacularly

They sacked Lampard and got in Tuchel, who did a little too well for his own good by winning the champions league. So they bin him off and go

Tuchel > Potter > Lampard

That’s not a decline, that’s falling down the stairs on roller skates

I just saw on SSN. 'Chelsea in advanced talks with Lampard'. I couldn't believe what my eyes were telling me.

What the hell?!

If the leaks about the dressing room are accurate regarding Potter, bringing in Lampard sounds like suicide. Especially after what was said about him by Everton players and him being quite matey with them.

Chelsea having Luis Enrique right there and going with Lampard ffs, can't make this up
Could just be that Luis Enrique doesn't want to come during the same (wouldn't make sense as they are still in CL), but who knows. Getting Lampard on interim is hilarious though.

Why would Lampard, arguably the clubs biggest legend as a player, go back to a job he already failed in once, on an interim basis?

It’s going to be Nagelsmann or Enrique in the summer. This is not a case of choosing Lampard over those two other guys.

Because no one in real life cares about these ridiculous standards of managerial work set on the Caf. If they were as smart as your average Caf poster they'd see Lampard has no redeemable qualities.

Is Boehly in full on banter mode at this point.:lol:

even as a temp it’s hilarious.

Chelsea got 80 million Euros from the Champions League last season (we lost in the quarter finals). I reckon we could get 80 million Euros for for those 4 players.
I think in 'normal' circumstances and sold across a couple of summers, they could probably fetch more than that, but with wages (perhaps Chelsea's contracts aren't as badly negotiated as United's but they're likely still on a ''fair wedge')and other clubs knowing Chelsea will are desperate as much as anything just to get wages off their books for FFP and to bring down those ridiculous 1st team squad numbers, do you think you'll get much of a transfer fee for any of them?

Lampard?? Why?? Don't they ever learn? I'll never get why Solskjaer gets so much stick, while clowns like this get gig after gig. Doesn't make any sense.

One of the least talented managers ever and keeps landing on his feet

I don't think its all that bad. He's a club man, I think he has the respect of the players ?

I don’t actually hate this. I’m surprised Lampard even wants to do this.

I can't see many negatives from Frank's POV. He just had a bad spell with Everton. Any slight upturn in results or atmosphere around the club would be considered a success. He can't possibly do any worse than Potter was doing. Any decent showing puts him back in the frame for other jobs that may not have come around had he sat out after Everton.

Frank has always been a smart guy and I feel this is a good decision from him.

I can see the logic as interim although I do understand the banter element it will cause.

My worry is if he does have a proper bounce the crowd will pressure the board into giving him the gig full time. When it comes to non "club men" our fanbase is ruthless but for club legends the total opposite, Jose and Lampard's sacking caused absolute outrage even though it was 100000% the correct decision both times.

We'd get 80 million euros for that lot. We turned down 45 for Gallagher in the close season.

Why not? What's there to lose from his perspective? Worst case scenario he gets knocked out of the CL by Madrid and takes Chelsea from 11th to 13th. Best case scenario he flukes the Champions League and Boehly gives him the job permanently.
