As long as he doesn't express any of his own opinions.could actually do a good job, i think. would draw the youtube type audience and freshen it up with a bit pf polishing.
Chapman is the obvious candidate in terms of being the motd2 host, at the bbc a while, and 'next in line.' Would be a little more of the same, but if the BBC wanted to get creative, Crouch would be an interesting choice
Dion Dublin too I think would be good as a host.
Agree with your positive comments on him. But I don't think he stands alone ahead of other possible candidates on other broadcasters. There are others with similar or greater experience who know the game well and can strike the right tone in presentation and rapport that Lineker and Lynam mastered over the years. There are also a few names who have been suggested who don't have that knowledge and ability. So I think it depends on the outcome.Yeah exactly, I mean he's the obvious stand out candidate, he's done a superb job on MOTD2 - if you're talking about the best candidate, it's clearly him. Politics might be the wrong term but surely it's his to turn down unless they want to make a certain statement with the appointment.
Philomena Cunk please
Please no, not Clare Balding.Left field maybe, but Clare Balding would be good. Excellent sports presenter. You need someone to read links and say "A good result for Brighton, after they took an early lead, Alan" it isn't rocket science.
Anyone associated in any way with Football Focus these last few years should be ruled out. That programme is awful. Makes latter years Soccer AM look Oscar worthy.
She's well known, she's high profile, she will bring a gravitas to the show.
Genuinely thought Huw Edwards was about to pop up.The only man for the job. Has a background in sports reporting, a BBC veteran of 30+ years, at home on live broadcasts, no skeletons in his closet*
* apart from shooting a guest and punching the BBC commissioning editor
John Lennon was very popular to be fair.If it's not Mark Chapman it will be because of politics.
