Fallen Muppet. Lest we never forget
Good news
If it takes the form of funding the western freight route, freeing up space around OT and allowing more passenger services across town then it might mean a win/win for the city and United. If it just means making pious statements about urban regeneration and going on about over restrictive planning regulations it means bugger all (or worse)Will be interesting to see what form this championing takes.
Would probably 1.5x to 2x what we make right now.How much revenue do they think we'll make?
How is it possible for the club to finance this? With the current finances properly in the sh*tter.. Probably going to cost at least £1bn. Is there a financial genius present who can explain it to me in a simple way?

Government backing has no involvement in the stadium itself. It’s on Trafford Wharf et al regeneration where they’ll put their monies. It doesn’t have to come from the clubs finances plus with government backing and no doubt a sponsorship on the stadium it will help massively
Great news...though I might not live long enough to see it.
I won't be around to see this project.
But in my view, it is absolutely vital for the long term future of Manchester United.
And hopefully by that time, we will be back at the very top.
What are the timelines?
Building a new stadium on surrounding land would likely last six years and cost more than £2 billion ($2.5 billion) and is the option favoured by co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe and the project task force, which includes Mayor of Manchester Andy Burnham and former club captain Gary Neville.
For the whole thing you're talking probably 10 years +What are the timelines?

She'll cut all benefits to the sick to fund it probably while ignoring the tax evaders. She's scum. Will be interesting to see what form this championing takes.
It actually ties in with her ‘growth’ plan. She'll cut all benefits to the sick to fund it probably while ignoring the tax evaders. She's scum.
They still need to spend on infrastructure and in terms of Govermment spending it's fairly small beer in comparisonI’d be interested to see how much research has been done into how much money this will generate for the economy.
The NHS is an absolute shit-show currently, along with other services in this country. Surely tax payer’s money would be better spent on them.
Loads of rival fans purposely being obtuse and pretending like we are asking for funding for the stadium itself when it has been said cleared up that the government is only funding the regeneration of the area.Love how some people online are up in arms and want to club to foot the bill for the stadium and all the surrounding infrastructure
Looking forward to my probably one after next visit back to the UK and seeing the new stadium in situ.
The govt wont put money into the Utd ground. The land around it maybe.
There would be Bedlam from all the other teams if that happend.
There is supposed to be a (enter number here) 'black hole' in the countries finances as well. The new ground funding from the govt not going to happen.

To be fair, some media are spouting this nonsense as well which is causing this. I saw a clip of an LBC presenter claiming tax payers money will be used to build Utd a new stadium.Loads of rival fans purposely being obtuse and pretending like we are asking for funding for the stadium itself when it has been said cleared up that the government is only funding the regeneration of the area.
Just bitterness from everyone but we move, it's time to have the best and biggest stadium by far in the country.

Increase in ticket prices... Spurs tickets are the most expensive in the PL, I believe, coincidence they have a new stadium? I understand they make 4-5 million per home game. Plus money from concerts, NFL etcHow is it possible for the club to finance this? With the current finances properly in the sh*tter.. Probably going to cost at least £1bn. Its great news. Spurs were held up at every opportunity by transport concerns and stubborn businesses blocking sale of land. Whole thing was help up years by Archway steel who made kebab machines and refused to relocate until spurs got a compulsory order from the court. This really is great news. It’s hard to explain how impactful it is on local government when a senior politician in central government essentially says something has to happen. It’s more than just about getting funding in, though that’s part of it. What’s more important is that every decision that could hold things up is now streamlined. It’s like you’re driving from one end of the city to another, but every light on the way has been turned to green.
If they cant build a new stadium in 2 years once they are given the green light to start, then something is wrong. Get enough teams on it and it could probably be built in even less time. Look how they are thrown up once a new country is offered the WC. Think West Ham and Arsenal stadiums were about 2 years to build and that was in London with all its traffic, etc.Its great news. With the government and local authority behind us, solutions will be green light immediately without court.
The transport concerns were valid in the case of Spurs, I used to live fairly close to the area and even on non-match days the traffic and congestion was horrendosIts great news. The West Ham stadium took 3 years, Emirates was 2, Wembley took 4, but you also need to bear in mind that the workforce is very different now, there is an acute shortage in the construction industry in part because of a certain vote in 2016If they cant build a new stadium in 2 years once they are given the green light to start, then something is wrong.
