Would it not be possible to use the leverage of the stadium deal to force the Glazers out?
Someone has quite possibly already suggested this, but I’d love for the bricks from Old Trafford to be laid as the walkway up to the new stadium.
The only way to get rid of the Glazers is by making them exorbitantly richer.Would it not be possible to use the leverage of the stadium deal to force the Glazers out?

Let‘s tell Trump there‘s a trade deficit with Manchester, UK.The only way to get rid of the Glazers is by making them exorbitantly richer.
Based on this it looks like the stadium can squeeze in just about and keep the actual freight terminal in place but the freight yard will have to move.
But as you say, it's difficult to tell.
But we must assume it's the case, otherwise they wouldn't be so confident of building it in 5 years.
It could take 10 years to move the freight terminal. The new one in St Helen's hasn't even started construction.
It's not going to take 10 years, that wildly exaggerated.
Yeah your probably right but if enough people were to put it to the higher ups, you just never know.
If I ever get the chance to come from the other side of the world to see a game I know the first thing I'd do is go for a
walk on the hallowed turf if it still existed.Don't forget it is the theatre of dreams.
Looking at the design, most of that walkway up to the stadium will be where Old Trafford is now.

I don't live quite so far but I'd love that too.
I'd would be great if they could maintain the turf through demolition and then keep it maintained like a decent pitch for kids to play on.
There's lots of room for creativity here I think.
You could have statues, the dugouts, goalposts etc all lining the walkway to the stadium.
The old tunnel is the oldest part of the stadium so that should be kept somewhere also.
To me the dugouts are iconic so would be nice if they were kept as a spot to rest.
They could be incorporated into the plaza/fan zone areas maybe.

Both of you with brilliant ideas. But sadly, I have zero hope that any of these things will happen.
For the guy to be so blasé about removing the measly £40k pot for former players, I just don’t see these types of things even crossing his mind and I doubt he’s got a team around him who’ll even mention it.
So when they said 5 years, does that mean that within the next five years they expect to break ground, or that they expect the stadium to be complete by 2030?
Or maybe even keep the pitch there but divide it up to smaller 5 aside pitches for people to play in? I dunno, just an idea. Both of you with brilliant ideas. But sadly, I have zero hope that any of these things will happen.

The stadium build will require another equity injection from INEOS or perhaps from another investor, maybe institutional money. The Glazers will be diluted when the cash injection comes in. The reason the Glazers gave up operational control was because they didn’t want to inject the capital required to run the club, much less build a new stadium. The reason they remained shareholders was that they didn’t get the valuation they wanted for the club. 69% of a 4.5b valuation is less than 49% of a 10b valuation…Would it not be possible to use the leverage of the stadium deal to force the Glazers out?
I think the new design looks so modern/ futuristic that anything from the old stadium will look far too out of place and will just be moved to the museum for museum tours. If he wants to attract tourists and wants fans to spend more time and money there, then these types of things are vital.
Haha yeah it didn’t quite read as intended, the point was that the hostility and abuse was part of the experience, which overall was magicalI mean if you truly do find it magical to have bags of urine thrown on you by strangers you do you but I expect it's not for everyone.
The land is probably too valuable.
Maybe they could keep the goals and penalty spot.

I think the statues just lined down the centre of the plaza will be as far as mementos go. Maybe a new statue to go along with them, a 90’s trio or similar statue.

Yeah looks like, it'll be a sad day fo rme when they finally demolish OT. It's such a shame that at least part of it can't live on in some capacity.

Can't say I've been to an outdoor sports event with a closed roofIt was closed when we played AC Milan in preseason under Ole, and it was a horrible sweaty breathless experience. Zero fresh air.

They won't worry about the grass growing. Pretty much as soon as OT's empty the grow lights roll out onto the pitch. The current OT stands are tall enough to mean there's too much shade to rely on sunlight.Wouldn't that be an indoor sports event then?
I've never experienced it either but I've heard it's a bit shit.
With the transparent roof on the new stadium presumably for the benefit of the grass. A roof would make it like a green house.
They're targeting opening it in 2030. Reality wise who knows between getting to go ahead and inevitable delays. How long would it take to build this stadium and are we going to share with City while the stadium is under renovation?
Why would we share with City? The stadium is being built next to OT. We will be able to play at OT until the new stadium is ready. How long would it take to build this stadium and are we going to share with City while the stadium is under renovation?
