Match 7 - Olympique K Stand Knut vs Dynamo DanNistelrooy

K Stand Knut

Tactics

This game is going to be won, by us, using both flanks, where we are far stronger. DN has very good wingers but they are one dimensional. Down our left, we have Coentrao and Eduardo who will pin Capel and El Mohammedy in their own half. With Capel being played out of position, I am confident that he will not be as effective as he could be as he will only want to cut inside to use his strongest foot. On the opposite flank, Jovetic will undoubtedly do the same and cut inside, which will allow Asamoah to double on him with either the full-back or the spare CB. The overall effect of both DN's wingers cutting inside is to nullify their own striker as less crosses will be put into the box for Derdiyok to attack.

We will also win the game with our midfield 3. DN's three will be comfortable on the ball, when they have it but my three are more than comfortable and capable of defending without the ball. DN's problems are going to come when they don't have the ball. They will not be able to cope with our movement, energy and passing and the key in all of this is that they have no player who is anywhere near capable of dealing with Pastore, which will leave him to pull the strings in the final third.

Add to this, playing Rodwell at CB, where he is unproven at any level of senior football, Bendtner will be able to take some of the chances created from out wide or through the middle.

Tactics

The tactics I would deploy against K Stand’s team would be to keep hold of possession. Kuzmanović will play the holding midfield role allowing the wonderfully talented duo of Pjanic and Wilshere to roam and at their own will to cause a nightmare for Asamoah who looks like he will be leading midfield defensive duties alone.

I feel my team has a real balance which will give us the edge in this first round. My star man going forward, Jovetic, will line up against the relatively inexperienced right back Vrsaljko whom I expect to be given a torrid time.

Coentrao on the opposite flank will most certainly provide a threat down my right flank. However, I feel he would be too occupied with defending the inevitable attacks from my Capel/Elmohamady combination. Though strong going forward, Coentrao has weaknesses defensively and I would look for Capel/Elmohamady to exploit this.

Defensively I have full confidence in Rodwell and Howedes being able to handle the unpredictable Bendtner. K Stand’s star man, Pastore is obvious the natural threat in this team, but by utilising Kuzmanovic we intend to nullify this threat, a Song on Rooney esque move. Pastore and Eriksen are wonderful on the ball. But they will need to put in a defensive shift against Wilshere/Pjanic/ Kuzmanović to save the inevitable domination from my midfield.

So basically our plan would be for Wilshere, Pjanic, Kuzmanović to control the midfield and dominate possession. Derdiyok will be a nuisance up top and provide room for my more creative players. Inevitably you have to fancy one of Pjanic, Wilshere or Jovetic to provide that bit of magic that unlocks his defence.

u play bendtner so further up the pitch, he looks like opponent GK

I'm up against the winner of this in the next round, better not say too much. :nervous:

and K stand players look so much bigger. its like men vs kids.

Quick bit on the players

Forster - Quick off his line, agile and above all, an absolute beast in goal, Forster has the potential to be a future England number one. Won promotion with Norwich last year, before looking likely to win the league with Celtic, he looks set for a bright future in the game

Schmelzer – Left back for the side that has just won the German league who also boast the tightest defensive in the division. Schmelzer has had a fantastic season on a personal note as well having made his breakthrough in the national side. Tough in the tackle and highly composed on the ball, Schmelzer is probably one of the most in form left backs currently.

Howedes – Vice captain for the surprise package in the champions league, Howedes is a commanding centre half. His absence in the recent tie against Man Utd was incredibly noticeable, and his organisational skills will be a great asset to our side.

Rodwell – Complementing Howedes will be young Jack Rodwell. Questions may be asked as to why centre half, but this is his natural position, and with a great ability to read, as well as distribute accurately means our two centre halves form a formidable partnership.

Elmohammedy – at right back comes a player who, on form, can be devastating down the right flank. Quick enough to get up and down, he easily turns defense into attack. Tailed off recently, but having already won 42 caps for his country his experience will be invaluable

Kuzmanovic – our holding midfielder, the ‘cog’ of our team. Everyone great side needs one; Kuzmanovic is our man. A great reader of the game and strong in the challenge, he allows our creative players to do their thing whilst shielding our back four expertly

Wilshere – Our box to box central midfielder. At the tender age of just 19, it speaks volume that Capello has already tried to build the national side around him. Pure class on the ball, terrier like in the midfield, I’m pretty sure Barcelona have been going after the wrong Arsenal centre midfielder..

Pjanic – our midfield playmaker. Dangerous on the ball, this man has an eye for goal as well as the ability to pick a killer through ball. He will also be our main set piece taker, and his deliveries are normally bang on the money.

Capel – an exciting wide player and Spanish international before injury. Capel offers an excellent delivery into the box, and has the trickery to beat his man to devastating effect. Another young man with plenty of experience. Capel will be the man to provide the team with width and together with Elmohamady will provide danger down right flank.

Jovetic – sound technically and great close control dribbling, Jovetic is the ideal man to have on the other flank of Capel. He offers something completely different, and with much more of a goal threat as well. Likes to beat his man and get his shot or cross off, his delivery is key to our target mans goal tally.

Derdiyok – Tall, strong and powerful, Derdiyok was the ideal front man for us to lead the line. Excellent heading abilities so is deadly from set plays, his strong frame allows him to hold the ball up for our more creative influences to get involved. This ability is invaluable to our team.

your midfield looks most impressive but i am not sure about the def

I went for Knut but I've never seen Asamoah play so deep and I'm not sure how good he'd be at it, especially with so little help from Pastore.

I like Pastore, Eriksen and Asamoah but there's no balance there at all. Dan's team is more balanced and also has quality itself.

The Players -
Nikolay MIHAYLOV (GK) - a proven international for Bulgaria and number one choice for current Dutch Champions and league leaders, FC Twente. Never given a chance at Liverpool despite having a safe pair of hands, being excellent in the air and commanding his area.

Sime VRSALJKO (RB) - an athletic defender who is equally comfortable anywhere across the back four as he is playing right back for my XI. Has the ability to be an outstanding defender whilst offering more than an added number to the attacking lines. Loves to get forward and provide assists for any forwards. Likely to be called up to the Croatia national team in the near future despite being only 19 years old.

Dejan LOVREN (RCB) - another young, exciting prospect from Croatia. At his strongest at centre back but more than comfortable at right back as well should he be pulled out there. Established himself as a first choice regular at Dinamo Zagreb before a move to Olympique Lyonnais in January 2010. Strong in the air, comfortable on the ball and fit as a fiddle.

Mamadou SAKHO (LCB) - an absolute beast of a centre back, who will compliment LOVREN perfectly. Established himself in the PSG first XI over the past few seasons having made nearly 100 appearances for them at the age of 21, and has recently pushed his way in to the international set up with France. Formidable in the air and will dominate most forwards whether in the air or on the floor.

Fabio COENTRAO (LB) - quite simply an outstanding full-back. Will spend most of his time pinning any wingers and full-backs in their own half as they worry about his attacking prowess. Established as first choice left back for both his club, Benfica and his national team, Portugal. Previous winner of Breakthrough Player of the Year and likened to Figo despite being a full-back. Has 12 caps and 4 assists for Portugal as well as 20 goals and 15 assists at club level. Phenomenal shot from distance and likes to test the keeper whenever possible.

Kwadwo ASAMOAH (MC) - a key man in the middle of my team with the attributes to influence all areas of the game. Solid defensively, comfortable on the ball and creative to boot. Will perform a Carrick (against Schalke) style role for the team whereby he will be responsible for breaking up opposition attacks, retaining possession and being the fulcrum for starting our own attacks. Has established himself as the lynchpin in the midfield of both Udinese and the Ghana and was voted most promising player of Ghana in 2010.

Christian ERIKSEN (MC) - six weeks younger than Wilshere and already established in a starting berth for a very promising Ajax team as well as having double figure caps for his native Denmark. Youngest player at the 2010 World Cup and named Danish Talent of the Year 2010. Will be used in a slightly more creative role than Asamoah but is more than capable to offer support in the defensive duties. A genuine all-round midfielder. Another great hitter of long shots to trouble the keeper.

Javier PASTORE (AMC) - the undoubted standout talent of my team and a star in the making. A prodigious talent who not assists goals as well as contributing his fair share - 24 goals and 14 assists in 103 appearances so far at the tender age of 21. Will play just behind my front-man but will pop up all over the pitch as tries to unlock the defences. Can also hit a mean shot from distance AND hit the target.

Eduardo SALVIO (AMR) - currently on loan at Benfica from Atlectico Madrid. An excellent strike ratio of 25 goals in 105 senior appearances so far. Will provide width and creativity for the team as well as providing support up front and will undoubtedly cause any defenders problems with his close dribbling skills and low centre of gravity. Will aim to pin full-backs in their own half as well as running at them at any given opportunity.

Carlos Eduardo (AML) - another flamboyant but exceptional wide player capable of clever footwork, rapid turns and dangerous crosses from the left wing. Starred in the 2007 Copa Libertadores where he reached the Final with Gremio and earned himself a move to Hoffenheim. After scoring 18 goals in 80 games in Germany, Rubin Kazan spotted his precocious talent and stumped up €20m for his services.

Nicklas BENDTNER (ST) - my lone striker but with one of the best shots to goals ratios in Europe, a deserved member of the team. With the creativity behind him and the amount of chances my players will put on a plate for him, he will score goals. Has played nearly 40 times for Denmark scoring 12 goals. He has also hit over 50 goals during his club career despite being limited to a bit part player for Arsenal. Strong in the air and equally so with the ball at his feet will allow BENDTNER to be an ideal target man who can more than capably hold the ball up.

i blame this word Olympique near K stand teams name. general people just hate french.

Me too, not sure where that came from. I certainly didn't ask for it.

I'll be doing some kind of outburst and blaming that, if I lose. Although, I'll do the gracious thing and claim it pushed me to victory if I win.

instead of searching for excuses. do smth. regroup. get bendtner out of the goal. he is in constant offside. all second half to play.

How exactly is dans team gonna win this game.

K stand knut is getting stick for bendtner, but surley he is 10 times better than derdiyok!!

Where exactly does dan get his balance from. Kuzmanovic is a rubbish DM. They have nobody to contain pastore. Every time he gets the ball he will cause mayhem.

Rodwell is not even a proven central defender and he is playing alongside el mohammady who want give him to much cover.

Seriously guys when you give this some taught its a no contest

May i add that capel on the right is pretty much useless and their only threat is jovetic down the left who will be cutting inside into asamoah who will be given the job to double up on him

C'mon lads, get behing K Stand here, his team is superior

The second half has just begun.

Pastore has dropped a little deeper to get on the ball more and influence the game. Bendtner has stopped holding the opposing keepers hand and will be on hand more now to put the ball in the net.

Come on Olympique!!!

In the mean time Coentrao has pinned back capel who is basically playing as a right back and El mohammady has been tied into knots by the apparently underrated Carlos Eduardo.

btw, who exactly is gonna get goals for dans team??

Pjanic will have a few shots from distance. Jovetic is a threat but the rest....

Wilshire is many things but a goalscorer he is not!

Capel is not prolific either and playing on his weaker side will not help

Derdijok  living is sakho's back pocket

This team is supposed to keep possession and create chances...for who?

go k stand go k stand!!!

by the way MalteseRedDevil, dude chill dude its just a game

Sorry, i've been out but last time i checked i was 16-8 up... I feel the votes are getting swung now by a few people's big gobs and i and my assistant (who is in the newbies) haven't been here to defend my team

Ha nah each to their own. Maltese Red - i believe that most games are won in midfield. Which team do you think would win the midfield battle? I may be bias but looking at my midfield of Kuzmanovic, Wilshere and Pjanic i think youve got a bit of everything in there. Eriksen from what i know is lightweight and more of an attacking playmaker. He and Pastore will provide no defensive fight in that midfield battle. Are you expecting Asamoah to battle alone? From what I've seen of him (though admittedly only in the world cup) he is pretty limited.

I admit that Derdiyok is my weak link (no worse than Bendter though), but he is there to occupy defenders and leave the space for Jovetic/Pjanic/Wilshere to tear into the defense. I don't know where the criticism of Capel has come from. Before his injury there was hype around him, got a Spain call-up and was linked to Europe's elite

Good battle though, 2 good teams.

Fair enough, i may have gone a bit over the top with my criticism. i expected it to be a close contest. I was just shocked by how the early voting had gone and made a desperate attempt to turn the tide

Asamoah isn't there to battle surely? He's the Carrick of the team, shield the back line, distribute to the attackers. Pastore has the license to attack more than Eriksen in the formation. Seems a good midfield to me.
